  • i have a few of the MR fx sabers, i think they are Anakin and Vader. they are lame compared to these. i am already having problems with them. I have considered taking them apart but cant find a good tutorial that doesnt involve damaging them. 2 questions.. Where do you begin to build a custom saber similar(but more simple and unique to myself)? and is your blade permanent or detachable? i have been looking to get a new LED so i can make both of mine detachable? any suggestions or links?

  • @theohiograssmen Hmm, that's a lot of question... good tuts to take apart MR/Hasbro FX sabers would be at the FX-sabers website. Tons of community help there!

Building a custom saber? Begin at thecustomsabershop . com ...

Blades are NOT permanent in the way that I do things, nor are they permanent in the way FX-Sabers folks & TCSS folks do them. 100% detachable!

    Good luck!

  • @greytale lol. thank ya kindly!

  • how much would you charge to make one ..??? its awesome i want one :) !!

  • @gothmaniow What about building your very OWN?! :) Do it... easily! With thecustomsabershop. :)

  • absolutely like it! very nice!

  • nice green light saber you got there at the like bar

  • Dude i have watched this video over 100 in a single DAY!!!! u are awesome dude and i think this is ur BEST video of all!!!!!!!!! congrats my friend!!!!! keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Virgin

  • @RedRaider8493 I bet you are too. And you're probably gay on top of it.

  • @RedRaider8493 Actually, I'm married, fool. She's kinda hot, too. Get your facts straight before pretending to have any authority over the internet, lol.

Also, let us know when you get a job--I'm sure you'll be plenty successful with your pretentious attitude... uh... "Red Raider". Sounds like you like 'that time of the month' to hit up women--good luck with that.

  • If you created that how come you don't know everything it does???

  • @katsurencho What the hell are you talking about...

  • LETS FIGHT

  • @DangerSandler hehehe, funny that you mention... there is a fight going on right now, actually.

The fight against Ultrasabers stealing my sound font work!

STOP SOUND FONT PIRACY! Sound artists need credit & remuneration for their work...

    --Novastar

  • i can see yours is as big as mine

  • @MrVinny2255 hahahahah use the Schwartz!

  • You made that? Wow! Wish I was that clever. I would love to be able to make a tricorder or a Type 2 phaser from Voyager. Well done.

  • @WABBITS8 I'm certain you, or anyone else could make such a prop, given the right amount of study, tools & experience.

I, for one, have NO background in electronics, LEDs and soldering--other than the experience I gained in simply deciding to learn one day + asking questions on forums, getting help, making mistakes, and taking some chances. :)

    --Novastar

  • HOLY SH**T! DONT SWING THAT THING AT ME!

  • he knows what episodes the sound is from? nuff said............

  • virgin

  • @nick47834 Wrong. Married.

    Sorry, guess again, sucka! LOL

  • @greytale Like my brother-in-law!

  • @greytale he's only projecting his insecurities in you.

  • @ShelbyJr Insecurities are one thing... inACCURACIES are yet another. :)

But you're right... these days--everyone's ready to judge everyone else "at glance" or on a whim. We all do it. In traffic when we're in a hurry. Maybe the way people dress or what color their skin is gains our negative judgements too...

The hardest fact of life we have to remember is: you can't sum up a human being's life... in a word or two. Not even in a sentence or two. Again--it's grossly inaccurate. :)

  • @bellcheese1982 Slightly early, but thank you.

  • can i buy one of these from you?

  • no offense ........ but you are such a nerd .... j/k i cant say that cause i love Star wars also

  • @BIoodrender Proper term for "my kind" would actually be "geek"... :)

Especially because I'm a martial artist, fencer, and sound designer as well. Also... don't miss my live staged combat performances called "Balance of Power"...

    --Nova

  • '' i kinda put a sithier sound on that.... just because i wanted to '' LOL what a character!

  • At 6:33 you can see a cat walking behind him lol

  • @2Nebojsa It's not "a" cat... it's MY cat. Clint! :) Big ol' chuuubbbeee booooiiiii!! hehehe

Well, technically it's my wife's cat, but... well... OUR cat, lol

  • That looks so real! Having one of those would be so much fun! Aspecially tricking my friends and/or other people into thinking it's a REAL lightsaber!

Yeah... I need to make one of those. Or buy one from someone else!

    Hmm... Are you selling...?

  • All I want is a Lightsaber that looks like this for my 18th birthday and/or graduation present. Please?

  • Seriously...Fucking...Awesome!

  • FANTASTIC NEVER MIND THE DIPWAD STUPID COMMENTS THERS ALWAYS JEALOUS DICKS,ANYWAY HOW DID YOU MAKE ITAND FOR ABOUT HOW MUCH?THANKYOU ENJOYED IT,B WELL YUR A NICE GUY

  • @knight1768 Hi there... hey, no worries, everyone has their opinions--I just don't think it's so hot when people's comments are flat-out inaccurate or simply coming from "hatred". Neither of those serve anyone to any extent... they just waste screen real-estate! :)

As to how I built it and how much... unfortunately it's a pretty long story--completely impossible to state in a single post, but you can learn more on FX-Sabers or also visit Plecterlabs.

    --Novastar

  • @greytale Holy Santa Clause Sh*t! I currently own a few of the FX lightsabers but wow does thing blow those away. I am completely serious here, would you build me one? I will wire money to you before you start. I am not joking. I guess I should ask first the cost. I live near Detroit MI again this is NO joke

  • nice music

  • The like bar is a lightsaber!

  • Star Wars geeks are the BEST geeks on this planet and I am proud to be one. :D

  • I like girls.

  • @parkairfreerunning So do I. Which is why I married one. :)

I also like staged combat, LED sabers, tricking, MA... and yup, even some free-running. Although... IDK... my opinion is... free-running is bollocks compared to tricking, staged combat and MA in general.

But, we all have our opinions & passions, which is why the world is such a sexy cool place.

  • @greytale We're getting into tricking this september. Check us out around then, an instructor is gonna teach us some crazy stuff man. Should have videos by October or so.

  • Dood.. You are legit.!

  • @ASerena2Remember Thank you, Serena!

  • 2:25 Jedi Knight Dark Forces II sound (Sight)

  • I wonder y i watched this video in the beginning and then i realized because ITS AWESOME!

  • turn dha fucking liht on .. i cant see

  • omg its so easy to mae 1 it requares 20 bucks go to target and buy a platic one tada easy and only reqares money and gas and a car

  • @pawzatron3 Ummmm... fail.

Fail, due to comparing a $300 hand-made, hand-designed, VERY bright, VERY durable prop made for staged combat... to a plastic, POS, non-durable, weakly lit toy, assembled by slave workers to corporate-America.

Yes... fail you have. Study & research better, you must.

    --Novastar

  • @pawzatron3 XD

  • damn.. u r good :o well done ;D

  • how much is an ultrasaber on average?

    what about a double bladed?

  • @NinjaGibsonSG Did you check the Ultrasabers site?

  • @greytale I did a while back I just didn't really remember. I believe I recall something around $600. Do you have a link?

  • Kitten is like: "I'll sleep somewhere else damnit..." @ 6:33

  • awesome

  • thumbs up if you wish u had a real lightsaber

  • I need to buy about 5 of these, a pound of extacy and have the best damn rave party ever.

  • @MrGlitchthis hahahahha... lol

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • omg i envy u dude. i want oneeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

  • 2:30 = force seeing from jedi knight :DDDDD

  • do u know were i could get one kinda like that on2

  • OMG!!!! very very cool!!!!!!!

  • send me one via airmail please !!!

  • @Sarge89able Why don't you try Ultrasabers, or individual sabersmiths? They can build a saber for you--for a price.

Sorry... I do not build these as a business. Maybe if I had the time... but--I don't. :(

  • nerdy but neat. I have never seen a full episode of star wars all the way through. and I am a HUGE sci-fi fan. I just fall asleep.

  • how do you make the actual blade?

  • @cjbartle & whoever else.

YES. That's exactially what I need to know! I'm trying to build my own, and I'm doing good... But I don't know what to make the blade out of. Anyone know?

  • @oOJoeCoolOo I've told many people... many times... the blade is made out of polycarbonate; a high-grade plastic.

Polycarbonate is to diamond as plastic is to glass... poly-c is basically what has (in the past) been referred to as "bullet proof glass". Which should actually be called bullet RESISTANT "glass", since it is not INvulnerable... but highly, highly resistant to damage.

  • @oOJoeCoolOo cuz i am about to start making lightsabers, and i need to know how to make a light up detachable blade

  • @cjbartle I've told many people... many times... the blade is made out of polycarbonate; a high-grade plastic.

  • KITTEH!!!

  • where i can buy this lightsaber????? price is not importat...

  • you touched it that means you have no hand now

  • May the Force be with you young son.

  • You look like Kyle Katarn :)

  • @fiddlersblack Hey, that's one of the characters I've actually HEARD of, hahahah!! I remember that character from both the "Jedi Knight II" and "Jedi Academy" games... which were absolutely amazing!

The vocal actor who voiced Katarn in "Academy" was pretty good too. Hmm... I always WISHED I could do *that* for a project or product someday. :) That would be DOPE.

    --Nova

  • @greytale

And Dark Forces and Dark Forces 2, aka Jedi Knight (1) :P

  • :D he went full jedi at @4:54 ...pretty awesome btw :)

  • @TheHck3r hahahah just as long as I don't go "full retard" I should be ok, lmao!!

Actually, in all seriousness, this is just me screwing around. The saber performances I've put together ~should~ be more impressive than this video... but they've been seen quite a bit less.

For anyone who cares, they're called "Balance of Power". Plenty of other ones too, although the saber fights are often "buried" in some kind of goofy & fun storyline...

  • @TheHck3r hahahahhahahahahahahahahha!!!!!!! ahahahha

  • @RammerDForce I still think I went "full retard", hahahahah :)

    (line from Tropic Thunder) :D

    --Nova

  • That's the best part! :D

  • how did you make it so real not the handel thats custom tho the blade

  • @ghillietutorials thats what i was wondering i dont like those ones you buy at walmart and the break easy when you fight with them let me know if he answers you inless he messages me then ill let you know if he did

  • virgin...

  • @dumerider14 INNNNNHHH!! Wrong answer... married!

But congratulations on making a jackass out of yourself, you do it pretty well. Such expertise is a... force... to be reckoned with...

  • 6:35 your cat wants to fight with you :D

  • ued be a cool jedi...seriously.

  • the sound at 2:27 is used for force sense in jedi knight: jedi academy

  • I can tell alot of work went into it. Amazing Job!

  • @tomsCOOLdancing Quite true, thanks for noticing! It WAS a lot of work, hehehe...

  • The sound is Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2, force sound, I think Force Sight. God I hate that I know that.

  • impressive, most impressive..

  • i thought it was HOW TO MAKE A LIGHTSABER!

  • @TheEli354 There's a lot to it. I have a 4-part video explaining how to solder & wire up a Crystal Focus board... but most people don't have the patience, skills, and understanding for such things...

  • This is awsome dude, good work!

  • the good thing is unlike every one else he actually has a light on it and didnt put it on the computer

  • @bearanales Right--this is an LED saber, it's most certainly NOT a graphical "rotoscoping" effect. Although there is a time & place for all sorts of CGI... this has never been something I've needed, as... my sabers have been (and pretty much always will be) for LIVE events, or even off-the-cuff film projects (such as "Gravy vs Nova")...

  • Impressive. . . . most impressive . . . .

  • This is nice man good job

  • How did you get it to fade when you turn it off?

What is the tube that has the green light made of?

How is the green light produced (leds?)?

  • @kikaro11 That's a lot of question, lol... the fade effect comes from the LED current driver portion of the Crystal Focus board. The tube or "blade" is polycarbonate. The light is indeed produced by a single, high-powered LED.

  • LOL now you need to sell those to police to beat people over the head with.... like in futurama...

  • you should sell these on amazon i would by it

  • can u make me one

  • @kidkiller217 I could, but... literally everyone asks me to do that. :) You'd be better off getting one from Ultrasabers, or building your own from thecustomsabershop, or looking into people who build them for a living.

I build mine for classes, demos, events, and to help further the technology / features for these crazy things... :)

    --Novastar

  • You really made that yourself?! VERY impressive! They need to be marketed!

  • @DredPiratWestley In many ways, these already are being marketed. Although I don't generally build sabers for other folks (unless as a gift)... there are many saber builders or designers that you can contact about them. Information on that is all over my videos and comments.

  • Very cool!

  • now THATS a LIGHTSABER!!!! put it up on ebay, i'll buy it.

  • so how tough is the lamp? i mean for making some clash testing and be sure to use it in cosplays or other parties?

  • @astral33 My live performances called "Balance of Power" would give you an idea as to how resistant the LEDs are to damage. When I started building these, it was specifically for the purpose of live performance and staged combat.

To be clear, these are unlike the "standard" toys you'd see in any store. Despite the overall RESULT or finished product appearing "the same" (a lightsaber).

    --Novastar

  • @greytale that is fortunate :)

and (cause i suck in electronics) if i wanted to order one from you with cyan-green lamp with a golden hilt and the simplest design, what would the cost be?

    :/

(you realize now how much i need one XD )

  • i have an anakin skywalker replica and the clashing sounds are pretty acurate but the huming noise when you wave it around sucks..can i put a diffrent sound chip like the one you have in my stock one?

  • @alorislg I'm afraid not... :( The stock MR board is pretty much unable to be modified in terms of sound output.

  • @alorislg awh alright thanks..im not a HUGE starwars fan but im all about getting the most realistic replica of anything i can get.lol but ive always admired lightsbers and the soundboards you use are the most realistic ive heard or seen..do u know where i can buy a custom saber like tha without haveing to solder or wire the chip in myself? i dont know much about wireing but id like to build my own hilt with a chip like that..thanks

  • @alorislg I recommend visiting the "home" for all things LED saber, called FX-sabers (website). From there, you'll find all sorts of interesting saber designers/builders. Off the top of my head, look up places like Vader's Vault, JQ Sabers, Genesis Sabers, and even Master Yoda (Michael, owner of FX-Sabers) himself.

Master Yoda (we all call him Yoda) builds pretty much the most INSANELY AWESOME "de facto" Graflex-style sabers ever. I have a vid on it, look it up, keywords "Yoda" & "FX".

  • @greytale sweet deal thanks for the info, and nice saber btw

  • do you have any videos on how to construct one? lol i designed one and i want to make it happen. please reply.

  • @cameronameri Gotcha back in PM (I think!)...

  • I. WANT. ONE.

  • W0W

  • how did you make the lightsaber, what did you need and can you change the color

  • NOVA! It's 2011 now and still no BOP III

    lol....is it still gonna happen?

  • @GeneralVeers100 Good point... & although I've said it before--some things here may make it possible in 2011 or 12. Famous last words though, huh? :)

The main limitation is simply having ABLE BODIES (enough of them, too) to accomplish this. I've done everything I can on my own (to a point) to have the show ready... but--as with all big things--I cannot do it alone.

It will take a team of people... and it will take some DEDICATION. This is in short supply in my area, it would appear.

  • @greytale Well, I suppose it's good you died then huh? Probably gives you more time to look around and work on things without have to memorize lines or coreograhp (although I sure you still have to do that.)

Maybe though...If things are in such short supply...you consider playing another part or simply bringing Master Nova back!?

    lol....just a thought.

  • star was :D:D

  • is there a way to get ligthsabers like urs without making cause that looks like a ligthsaber u can buy

  • ur my fucking hero! can you make me one?

  • @AaronFitton333 Try ordering from thecustomsabershop... :) That should help you.

  • i love these lightsabers they are awesome

  • so how sensitive is "pretty sensitive"? I have my lc set to 100 (it was originally set to 150) and it can still be a little stiff getting a clash esp. on harder surfaces.

  • @phil56201 hi Phil... well, firstly it depends on what version of CF you have a bit, and also on what the other parameters (hc, ls, hs, for example) are set to...

In general, you don't want to change "just" one, you will want to tweak ALL of the values in the direction you prefer (more sensitive or less).

Personally, I'd try "88" for parameter lc, and make some other relative adjustments to the other values.

    --Nova

  • @greytale

    I have CF 4.31

This is how I currently have it set up. Keeping the dead zone between high swing and low clash. Pretty good, but like I said, it doesn't seem to like harder surfaces as much as the MR boards do.

    hc=255

    lc=100

    hs=65

    ls=12

  • @phil56201 this is best for personal messages, so I'll hit you back there...

  • @AaronFitton333 Visit "thecustomsabershop"... that will be a great start for you. Although the saber shown in this video is not totally comprised of custom-machined parts.

    --Novastar

  • whats the music called you hear at the background?

  • siiiiiiiiiiick

  • how did you make it p.s nice saber

  • @brb224 I have several videos explaining things more in detail. Any way you slice it, it's quite a bit of work (to make a really nice one)... a lot of planning + soldering + wiring + metal work.

  • how did you get the saber

  • @brb224 I built it myself, and installed what is called a "Crystal Focus" sound & light driver board (by Plecterlabs).

  • ill buy one

  • btw how long you needed to make your own one?

  • Merry Christmas!

  • @FadhliEmoShitt and happy holidays + Merry Christmas to you as well!

  • is it normal that FX lightsabers are so light like that or did you chance something?

  • @pupskannake Please read the description. All of the sabers I have are built by me, I don't use the junk in the stores for anything other than the sound boards.

And in this case, the sound & light board is by Plecterlabs, and the sound "profiles" or fonts... are done by myself.

    --Novastar

  • @greytale wow. but how you did this? I mean the hilt eg looks more stable and also if you fight than a normal FX one. I got one since today and if I spin it fast I have the feeling it will brak fast or something *lol*

  • @pupskannake Right, the housing for the electronics (hilt) is a lot "smoother" for the sake of staged combat. Of course, this was done on purpose, heheh!

I don't know if you'd "break" a Force FX saber... but I certainly didn't trust them for my live performances nor events nor demos. Haven't looked back since. :) Best thing might be for you to visit thecustomsabershop and learn more about the LED saber after-market.

    --Novastar

  • @greytale oh jesus. its too complicated for me to make my own one (exspecial I am german lol)

    but thanks man :)
