  • beautiful amp!

  • Brother-the matamp is amazing. I've heard the 2000 but at 30 watts, it's pricey and will need miking up even at a loud jam.

I bought a mesa boogie mark 1 reissue, use it on 60 watts and put a jensen tornado jet 100 neodymium speaker. when dialled in correctly, it's possible to get the exact same tone.!

  • well must say you got it right thanks for reply kenny

  • Nice sound you have what echo are you using please its good

  • @kenny7245

I used de reverb of the Vibroking amp and adjusted a little with the audio functions of my video software.

  • I'm you typical headbanging bone head, but, since I got my epiphone Les Paul standard I looked at some iconic les Paul users and Peter Green came up, since then I've fallen in love with his sound!!! How can I get this sound my self?? Do I just flip my rhythm pick-up upside down?? Or is there more to it??

  • @SlashGnR54M

i'm afraid that is not enough. you will find info at Youtube by searching for "out of phase pickup"

  • @KeesDusink Sweet, thank you, i'll search into it :-)

  • @SlashGnR54M An out of phase neck pickup and a nice Fender amp such as a Deluxe Reverb or even a Supersonic 22 will get you close. Peter Green mostly used both pickups on his Les Paul, where the selector switch is in the middle.

  • That's a beautiful rendition. Love the smooth tones

  • you sound great and yourright green one of the best i have a 61 les paul get a great sound thanks for that one

  • It's probably a Matamp. However, he was keen to play fender, too. The thing is, he was a genius and Gary Moore once remarked how incredible he sounded out of a little Selmer-how it shook the room and sent his spine tingling. Peter was the master of that blues and a bright light with a guitar and any amp. His yearning and skills have never quite been equaled.

  • @SHEMAMAN Unfortunately Peter Green does not say much about that period. But I fully agree his touch and feel are unequaled. Nothing but respect for a great bluesman.

  • @SHEMAMAN Today, I had the opportunitie to play a few hours on the Matamp 2000. It definitely is THE amp of the typical PG sound. Without any complex handlings, all Peter Green sounds came straight out of it. The amp has not enough power for larger venues, So with pain in my heart I decided not to buy him, because its too expensive for use at home only.

  • you played really sweet, you've got the touch

  • i spoke to Matamp about this years ago. They insist the studio album track was recorded with a s2000 amp of theirs.

  • Great Job and a nice Les Paul too!

  • awsome kees your the man great job great song.

  • Lovely and soulful. Mr Green would be proud, I'm sure.

  • Yummy, nice touch, beautiful tone. Thanks for showing me how. Now, if only I would practise. For about 10 years...

  • Yummy, nice touch, beautiful tone. Thanks for showing me how. Now, if only I would practise.

  • Yummy

  • You look like you're really enjoying yourself, which makes watching and listioning to this so much better

  • Well done however it is a misconception that he played it on a Les Paul it was mainly played on a Strat despite all the footage of him playing/miming it are on the LP. Pete and Danny played the harmony parts with Jeremy Spencer playing slide.

  • @petesguitar

You may be right, however I personally saw Peter Green play Albatros on his 59 LP at two live concerts at that time. See also the BBC youtube vid of Fleetwood Mac playing Albatros. Later I indeed saw PG also play Albatros many times on a Strat. But, anyway, Peter Green was great on both.

About the other guitar parts you're right for sure. My challenge was to play them all by myself. So I recorded the slide part separately and mixed it in the backing track.

  • @KeesDusink It's cool that you got to see him. Personally when plying it live as the only guitar in the band I would try and approximate the slide parts using right hand tapping/bending while the double stop harmony is still ringing some times it was more successful than others :) . The thing about which guitar used is like Hendrix using Marshall amps live but mostly Fender or Vox in the studio!

Once again GOOD JOB :) well done.

  • @petesguitar

There's a somewhat recent interview with Peter Green showing off his guitar collection. He's quite adamant that Albatross was done on the Les Paul, with the slide parts done with his Strat.

  • @leeyoungun I had always thought that Peter played albatross on a Les Paul (because of the film footage of the band) but I remember Gary Moore saying that Greeny probably used a Strat so who knows? It would be interesting to find the Peter Green interview that you have mentioned on utube .

  • @TheHumbuckerboy

I am mistaken. Peter says it was a Strat for the "main theme of Albatross with the harmony parts played on the Les Paul"! Search for Peter Greens guitar collection or something like that...it's part 2 of the video, towards the end at around 7:44. It was part of the extras of the Man of The World DVD.

  • @leeyoungun No problems brother.I have now watched the utube clip in question so I have learnt something today! Many thanks.

  • @petesguitar Peter and Danny played the harmony guitars, Peter double tracked the bass and played the slide parts. Refer to the Peter Green Biography and the "Man Of The World" documentary for confirmation. But yes you are correct that it was on a Strat. He wrote most of the song on a plane and called it Albatross after the poem "The Ancient Mariner".

  • a timeless classic!...great tone and playing, im looking at getting one of Larry Corsers LP's, whats your opinion of them?....im also a big fan of Gary Moore! :)

  • @mkilner

I'm convinced Larry Corsa LP's are real good quality, but........tone... is a very personal thing. I recommend you to analyze carefully all his video's to discover the characteristics of this guitar.

  • Lekker hoor Kees ,*****.

  • die beste coverversion bis jetzt!

  • so simple..and so good, very good playing...

  • Great work Kees.

Are you bending 2 strings at a time, or just one and then get the effect from playing another string at the same time (just in Samba Pati)?

  • @yearofthecat2011

Hi, I bend 2 strings at a time, and while "unbending" I slide with my fingers one position backwards

  • @KeesDusink

Hey there! Amazing tone and playing! I thought those harmonies were overdubbed!

  • @blackmoreisgod

thanks. (it took me quiet some time to have full control over this)

  • Albatross one of his best. Love the Albatross in the back ground such a graceful bird.

  • Mellow soft classy Cool !!!
