And i dont mean that as an insult but I play all my quake games with graphics tune down so I can see my opponents easily.

If you played games in the 90's then graphics probably are not your main decider which game is better.

I am playing with full picmip (worst textures) and most other settings turned down as much as possible aswell. Plus the original game (Quake III Arena) is from 1999, UT3 is from 2007.

Seriously it's 2009, and it's Quake III. You can max everything and still get a ridiculous framerate.

It isn't for the framerate! People play quake not for the graphics, but the gameplay -- the effects etc. can be distracting when you're trying to focus on the enemy and the map. I personally do not play with that high a picmip, or with significantly reduced graphics, but that's just a preference.

It's a goddamn crying shame that Quake Live removes Q3A's blood and gore. Why is this? Is it because of the fact that some countries don't have the balls to allow explicit violence in their games?
