  • do you use A4 or 8.5x11?

  • the comment below me is actually an elephant in disguise.

  • Godly

  • This is a good plane.

If you can, can you answer some questions about the boomerang II?

    1. I can't get it to stall all the time

    2. when it does, it turns back over and dies.

my ceiling isn't that high, so how do i get it to stall at a shorter elevation?

  • @eatingfoodstuff

    1. The throw is really critical. You can throw the plane a little steeper or add a bit more up elevator. Also crimp the leading edge of the nose down a little.

    2. I usually find this caused by too much up elevator. Back off there or crimp the nose a little. Try different launch angles.

Practice throwing while sitting on the floor or standing on your knees. I had the good fortune to work on my throw in a television studio, but this will work.

  • So u specialize in aerospace science?

  • @gus9r9r your right because my airplane had one little crinkle and when i flew it it hit the wall it dosnt come back

  • omg is so............ retarted thumbs up if yours didnt fly

  • how do you throw the airplane and it does not come back

  • How do you throw the airplane

  • Could you explain more clear how to make the plane fly in a tighter circle; my house is kind of small

  • @eatingfoodstuff

Bend the rear of the wing upwards a little bit. That's called up elevator. Since the plane "climbs" in a circle, that will make the circle smaller.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy hi i need a little bit of help on tucking the edges into the pockets at 4:04

  • I coudnt do most folds

  • how to subscribe

  • wow its like the rtm (return to me) from that paper airplane book

  • crap i hate fakes like u u stupid science airplane dude!

  • doesent work btw ur hand is blocking too -_-

  • i can't see at the 3:54

    because of his hand!!

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks man

  • At 2:25 "That's how we get it in there!" HA!!!

  • ughhhhhh i did what he did but the stupid plane dose no want to work >:\

  • @XxyshouldunoxX make it agian i tryed it my first time and didnt work but then i tried it agian and try throwing it a little fast

  • thanks ik kan het nu uit mijn hoofd

  • Your r the greatest

  • i love you

  • perfectionist!

  • What is the plane that your the most proud of in this time

  • And is this the same size paper you use for all your amazing planes

  • @Ash543212

Almost everything I make is from that size. The Tumble Wing and The Follow Foil are exceptions. I'm working on breaking the world record for distance with a piece of A4 paper.

  • Thanks I'm a big fan if what you do man

  • What kind of paper and size is it because ever time I try to make but it doesn't end up like how you did yours

  • @Ash543212

I use American letter size which is 8.5 inches by 11 inches. If you're starting with A4, simply remove 22mm from the bottom of the sheet before you begin folding.

  • wow imagine

  • bale callampaaa

  • I did it I don't come back it's crap

  • @TheRetardedgeek

Care adjusting is the key. It's not a video game. It's not magic. You're making a flying machine. It will take patience.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy

Paper airplane guy dont listen to the bad comments because they might be unexpirenced or just cant make the plane I can make it fine and it does come back to me xD you guys JUST HAVE TO HAVE PATIENCE.....looking forward for more videos xD

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy

oh and can u make a video showing how to make the flapping paper airplane looks cool and fun to make.

  • this is the worst paper airplane EVER. if you do a fraction of a mistake its ruined. the video was crapy to. some parts i had to rewind and pause just so i could keep up, to put it short the paper air plane guy SUCKS crap.

  • @gus9r9r

The Paper Airplane Guy got the plane to fly.

  • Damn you go to fast!!

  • Back in '98 my older brother bought a book that you wrote called "Return to the Fold" Collins Garwood Yang. He showed me this airplane and gave me the book. I figured out how to do this in Junior High, later on trying to impress my instructors. It never happened. It wasn't up until now at the age of 22 that I impressed a couple of math professors at my college ;-) This is my all time favorite airplane btw ;-)

  • @felixduhcat89

Wow. You and about 10 other people managed to find that book. McGraw Hill figured out how to not market the book to anyone. It was poorly edited and typeset. Tons of errors in the publishing. Fantastic Flight has some of the planes (my designs) from that forgotten effort. Thay Yang has published other paper airplane books. Don Garwood had done a book on learning how to play the guitar. I'm not sure if I managed to end his publishing career with that effort.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy Well he bought it at the Caltech Bookstore. I can only imagine how they got to ordering the books. And now that I come to think about it, I don't think I have seen that book anywhere in bookstores back in the 90's or 00's as far as my memory can recall. It looks like on Amazon it costs around $92. I'll have to look into Fantastic Flight though, I'm sure to get it! They are neat designs. You've done a great job at them btw. It's a great hobby.

  • You should make a vid. on how to fly it.

  • great!!! i'm 12 and i can fold this. that's rather easy

  • it doesn't fly like yours

  • I made one but it wont come back to papa!!

  • hÊy_Í_fÊël_sô_l0Nély_tõDáy

  • its not that hard...

    gosh!

  • peice of crap hell a hard

  • so faking hard gosh

    \

  • Anyone who did the boomerang throw perfectly? Post how you throw here.

  • 24 people cant fold paper.

  • No one cares for the last part so y r u shoing it

  • troll, it doesent work

  • This vid sucks. Small but crucial points and instructions are indirect and hidden by hands. Don't show your face because we don't care what you like. Be clear and slow but you can't do that because you are a bad tutorial maker. You never say that the paper is portrait style, you skip it and fold in have a second leaving no time to make thismwithout pausing every millisecond. P.S. You suck.

  • @xemonkey .............haters gonna hate.

  • i cant freaking fit it in there

  • everyone knows the swash fold.

  • do you use a rectangular paper or a square like paper?

  • @NintendoLinkGamer 8.5 "x 11" rectangle

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy is that letter size?

  • @spacexplorer100 American Letter Size. If you cut 22mm off the bottom of A4 paper you get the same ratio as 8.5 x 11 inches, which is US letter size.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy ordinary rectangle works?

  • @TheHaz2020 Ordinary if you live in the US: 8.5 x 11 inches. If you live in the Europe, chances are you'll need to remove 22mm from the bottom of a sheet of A4.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy i live in malaysia

  • @TheHaz2020 A4 is your paper size. You'll need to remove 22mm from the bottom of the page before starting. Cheers.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy ok thanks

  • 21 peoples airoplanes flew straight..

  • @macclatte That's the first step in getting it to circle. Try throwing leaned over more and/or adding more wing droop. Adjusting is very important.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy whats a wing droop

  • @TheNotoriousV The wings should have a downward sweep as they leave the body of the plane. Most airplanes (paper and full size) have an upward sweep. The downward sweep helps the plane stay in banked turn. An upward sweep makes the plane rock back to neutral.

  • whay wont it WORK?!! THUMBS UP IF YOU THINK THIS PLANE SUUUCKSSS!!!!

  • @dylanolson107 how about thumbs up if try hards should take a chill pill

  • i tried it, threw it like im supposed to, and it didnt work :( ill have to retry tomorrow!

  • Thanx man... it really works, except i need space because i used A4 and didn't cut 22mm going to make a new one with 8.5 x 11 :)

  • how come i've never heard of you? You should have a show or something!

  • size

the removing 22 mm from the bottom is it a landscape bottom or a portrait bottom?

  • @zap139 Portrait. Most letters and memos get printed with a short side of the paper on top.

  • its to hard i need step by step

  • AWESOME MAN!!!!!!!!

  • if I make a video of me trying to make the plane could you tell me what I'm wrong

    P.S your videos rock~~

  • @boitoy5

    Sure.

  • this plane is hard as shit to make. i cant get it

  • im trying so mutch but is not working. i have already tried like 35 times but evry time i throw it its not working pleas help me i cant find where im doing it wrong.

ps: sorry for my bad english :)

  • @daichibeaterman

is already okay i didnt see that you need to cut 22m of a a4 so ty

  • wat size paper do u use

  • @gashco321 8.5 x 11 inch. If you only have access to A4, you can remove 22mm from the bottom and get the correct ratio for folding my planes.

  • I tried making this, and now I feel retarted, I lost you at the pocket. Lol!

  • hey paper airplane guy can u make a tutorial on the long distance plane like 50 -100ft and more

  • @berggoldberd619

All of the planes in my book, The Gliding Flight, flew 60 feet across the television studio. That was the minimum requirement for being included in the book. Those planes are all posted in the subscription part of my website, and of course, in my book. Many of those planes have flown 100 feet or more. I'm currently working on a couple of designs I hope will be record breakers. Of course, they'll go on my website after I break the records.

  • So,you want me to to make a youtube video about it?

  • @rishi5154

Whatever floats your boat. I'm curious, as I'm sure others are, what your strategy might be for making the plane boomerang back. As you can tell from the comments here, making instructions clear enough for others to successfully follow can be tricky work.

  • When i try to fly it is does barrel rolls in every direction. It doesnt come back to me. Pls help me !! This looks heaps cool

  • @hicooper123

Without seeing a picture of what you've done to the plane, it's impossible to diagnose. Off hand, I'd say you may have too much wing droop on one side of the plane. One side of the plane should mirror the other. Likewise, if the winglets are not parallel, you'll get really weird flights. Keep at it. It's worth the effort.

  • lost at pocket

  • this airplane is hard to make and your going way too fast for me (i wish i was good as good as you)

  • Well,I had made up my own version of a boomerang plane which can be done in few steps and is very easy to make.

  • @rishi5154 Bring it on.

  • im stuck on the part where you tuck in the flaps

  • Is the plane suppose to be quite thick at the nose area? Because mine tore a little on the nose! I folded it with a regular A4/print sized paper

  • does the thickness of the paper matter? I'm using regular printer paer (8.5 x 11 of course)

  • @minhaitran Most paper used in copier machines is about 20lb stock. I've used 24lb stock with good results. Any beefier than that, and wing thickness changes enough to really alter the flight. I chose 20lb paper for almost all of my designs because that's what's most readily available.

  • Your Awsome! Your So Epic, and cool i love makeing airplanes now cause of you! =D

  • when i fly it, it seems to use more space and makes a giant circle trail.

how do you make the circle range smaller?

  • @edmondfang01

    Add up elevator.

  • @Cartoonsfantasycyx I Can't find that size of paper at bookstores :( Where can I find that sized paper?

  • @Cartoonsfantasycyx Michael's Arts and Crafts Store

  • the fist one i made was good second one didn't come back or loop and so did all the others.what did i do wrong

  • What size of paper should we use in order to make this plane?

  • @Cartoonsfantasycyx This paper is 8.5 x 11 inches. If you're starting with A4, simply remove 22mm from the bottom to get the correct width to height ratio for all of my planes.

  • @Cartoonsfantasycyx Where can i find that size of paper? I can't find it at my nearby bookstores.

  • @Cartoonsfantasycyx American letter size is widely available everywhere in the US. Outside the US, A4 is widely available. By removing 22mm from the bottom of an A4 sheet, you can make the correct size sheet for my airplanes to work.

  • can we use A4 paper?

  • @john0178 Only if you remove 22mm from the bottom first.

  • Mine doesnt work =(

  • @comdeycrew007 Overall symmetry is really important. Step one: get it to fly straight. Step two: get it to loop. Step three: work on throwing at a banked attitude.

The plane is doing a sideways loop to circle back.

  • mine doesnt circle or loop whats wrong

  • @endlessiphone239 See my answer @ comdeycrew007

  • @endlessiphone239 Check the answer for comdeycrew007 below...

  • Yeaaah mine works thanks

  • the master in paper planes, love your inventions,

  • Mine doesn't circle or loop at all. I had to rip of 20mm because it was A4 and the result looked a lot like yours. It must be something with the throwing

  • Where are your books available? You have the absolute best planes I have ever seen. I hate cut and paste planes, and so far your books are the best for avoiding those designs.

  • @Ammondude You can click through from my website, ThePaperAirplaneGuy, or you can search Amazon for The Gliding Flight or Fantastic Flight. I'm probably at your local book seller or library.

  • @Ammondude Amazon or through my website. Google the paper airplane guy.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy Thanks man love the book.

  • @Ammondude Have you checked out the new website? The Paper Airplane Guy dot com.

  • @JohnMCollins1 Yeah. Great site.

  • @JohnMCollins1 Yeah, it's a great site. Like the design. A few more tutorials would be cool.

  • thanks

  • is this a square? or a4

  • @LegoScout09

    Neither. 8.5 x 11. See below.

  • what size should the paper be?

  • @M4hd11

8.5x11 inches. If you're using A4, remove 22mm from the bottom of the page to get the correct size.

  • Actually,my friend likes to make this plane.

  • aren't you the guy from the makerfair?

  • @xXChipmunkMeXx That's me. And I'll be at Hiller Aviation on Saturday for 3 longer shows. hiller.org for directions and show times.

  • I made this 3 times and all of them curves then gose straight. Why?

  • hey!! I made it, but it doesn't work D= what can I do??

  • I made it... but it just goes straight. It doesn't curve at all.

  • @thehornsholdthehalo

Did you release the plane leaned to one side? You need to do that to get it to make a circle. Also, try adding up elevator.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy I finally got it to work... but then my little sister destroyed it. But thanks for the help anyway.

  • gotta say thats pretty cool but when your folding creases, use your nail on your thumb and run it across where you want to fold crease or any other type of fold.

    AWSOME PLANE!!!! :D

  • How come whenever I throw it, it slighty curves, but then it doesn't come back to me. I'm using A4 size paper.

  • @MankeyFaec

Try removing 22mm from the bottom of the paper before you start folding. The wings are probably wider than the plane in the video, so you may need to add more curve to the leading edge, next to the fuselage. I don't have any experience with this plane folded from A4.

  • Comment removed

  • could you show the one plane that flies withe the card (not tumbling wing)!

    that one is awesome!

  • @karlfreitag1

See the answer below. End of July, all your questions will be answered.

  • Hey john this plain is awesome :) i got the ITunes app and its great but i cant make out some of them because i cant see the points were your folding at.But its still great oh can you make a video of how to make a super canard i want to make one soo bad. Thanks for this video mine works great i need more room it doesn't turn tight enough ill tweak it alittle bit.

  • @hellsrage619

I've got new video coming on all the planes. It should all be up on my site by the end of July. The delays have been painful for everyone involved.

You're right... it's all about the adjusting.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy Sounds great i love paper airplanes, their a great way to pass time and fun to fly.

  • hey john does it really matter if the paper is a little bit thicker than normal? i was just wondering

  • @pr0ph33r

It's possible that the paper will tear at the nose, where the most layers come together. The plane will also fly faster because it's lifting more weight.

  • hayy i really liked your plane,, and i wasted like 25 papers trying to do it :S and it still does not boomerang, how ever i need to know. 1)is that paper your using an A4 sheet. 2)Well this one is hard to explain but, at 2:50 after you make the crease (please pause the video at 2:50 (the end of the crease at your right hand side)), your crease stops before the edge of the paper, while mine stops after the edge, at the side of the paper, is that okay or this makes it not balance..

  • @3all0000sha

I only use US letter size paper. You can remove 22mm from the bottom of A4 to get the correct ratio. I've not folded this particular plane with A4. It should, theoretically, work; but there will be some cosmetic differences. I would think the wing tips would look different. The wings would be longer looking. You might need to add larger winglets. The better solution is to remove 22mm from the bottom of the page before you start folding.

  • Comment removed

  • it hit me in the eye

  • he is the best paper air plane person

  • mine flew straight smoothly.

  • this plane needs accuracy to work well.Right?

  • @rishi5154 Any flying machine needs accuracy to work well. This needs folding accuracy and attention to the adjusting details. Insist on the best from yourself and you'll get the best from the plane.

  • Comment removed

  • this is super hard

  • ok,i tried that with a regular A4 paper and as u can imagine it didnt happened so i removed 22mm and start over but it just cant turn back to me...everything that needs to be parallel is parallel and everything is symmetrical and it just flies straight(good flight though)... any suggestions?

  • actually i made it fly like a boomerang from my last try to make that plane and when i throw it it goes one of the ways but it doesnt go that way enough... so the plane is not comming right where I am and is landing like 1m away from me..do u know the reason?

  • @lxX50CentXxl Add some up elevator so that it will loop when you throw it straight. Getting it to boomerang back to you is like doing a loop sideways. The negative dihedral allows the plane to stay leaned over, and the up elevator will cause it to climb in a circle back to you. Make sure you're throwing the plane leaned over.

  • @ThePaperAirplaneGuy should i add only one elevator and is there a difference on which side i make it ? and just to add,the plane returns sometime with a loop but noth sideways but vertical...

  • @lxX50CentXxl Always add up elevator to both wings in a symmetrical way. I've seen this behavior before-- the plane almost seems to be stuck in upside down flight mode. Usually it means you've done a very good job of making the plane and a little up elevator will shift the balanced forces back to your favor.
