actually, no this wont happen. the moon gets farter from earth each year, but only by centemeters i think. the only way that would happen is if the moon was knocked over by a strong force.

what would happen is the earth would be first knocked out of orbit and crumble and turn to dust then buy gravity pulls and magnetic feidls would spinn the dust slowing forimg into a flat disk (bunch more things)...then buy gravity would form to a solid ball and start to heat and create another sun.

I saw this on the Discovery Channel... that ACTUALY happened, minus the modern cities and whatnot.

Scientists believe a few billion years ago a chunk of rock somewhat bigger than the moon did crash into the earth, peeling back the crust and plunging right into the earths mantle.

after that, there was a rebounding drop of mass which was ejected with just enough force to keep it within orbit... and what did it create?
