I'd love to see an interview where Guthrie sat down and explained, in as much detail as he'd like, how the whole process of getting his sound went - from the concept to the speakers. I've heard some decent interviews with him, but he's always been pretty vague. Maybe he's been afraid of cons? He seems to be in pretty exclusive company as it is.

I was never blessed to see this band perform live. Being a lover of their music it's one of my biggest disappointments. I've never felt such raw emotion than when I see these old live feeds of this perfect group of performers. I cry with bliss.

People throw the word "brilliant" around a lot these days, but this band is one of the very, very few occasions in which the term is not only warranted, but, quite possibly, an understatement.

There are so many bands who have been either one-hit, one-album; or even no-hit wonders (pop idol, x factor etc) .... yet whilst all Cocteau Twins' albums are different I do not think they have made a duff track or a duff album.... ever!!!! I think Liz is still grieving over the loss of Jeff Buckley - as am I.

So sad about Jeff Buckley. I didn't like his original songs quite as much as his brilliant covers, but I firmly believe that his next album would've been amazing. I've often wondered where he would've taken us. I think he was well on his way to becoming the male equivalent of Liz Fraser.

And you're right about the Twins. Their albums are quite different. I have favorites, of course, but even their "worst" tracks are better than most other artists' "best."

Ah, this is where we differ. My fav' album of all time is 'Grace' by Jeff Buckley. At least it shows we are all individuals, which is important. I never judge or criticise someone who has a different 'take' on things - life is too short.

On Lullabies to Violaine, the Cocteaus play 'Winter Wonderland' and 'Frosty the Snowman'. How cool is that!!! Take care.

saw them at Glasgow barowlands '94. the sound and light were spot on. I was about 10 back at a standing venue.. the crowd was a sea of loving people.. and the band seemed to know it.. they played fantasticly.. Liz sung with gusto.. she sung "are you the right man for me? or are you to SICK for me?"

@skrason They were never known for their live performances until the very end. Milk and kisses was a great tour. Liz sang beautifully, they performed some classics like wax and wane and aloysius, their show featured drums (not drum machines), and mark clifford of seefeel lent his mixing talents. By the time they came to LA, I had just graduated from college ('96), and their show inaugurated a truly wonderful summer.

A great performance which, as the track is off the Milk & Kisses album, 1995, must be one of their last performances. It's a tradgedy that this band didn't continue. I have some memory loss from epilepsy, but when I listen to Cocteau Twins music it takes me back to a special time in my life. Whilst listening I'm literally stunned and stopped in my tracks. it's a combination of severl things, i think. liz has always been a highly emotive, in-the-moment singer. plus, she began to improvise her melodies (bordering on the scat jazz style) in a live setting after 'heaven or las vegas.' for some of us, it was fascinating. however, in a lot of these performances you can see that she's just nervous.
