  • i found it to sound better with the capo on the 5th fret, thats just me

  • Good but I agree with the Dropped D brigade :)

  • Thanks !

  • love your username X) dylan fans unite!

  • Better with a dropped D tuning

  • thank u dude, i can play too anymore

  • why not use dropped D tuning? Have a look at jonndalton and see how it should be done properly

  • Strum pattern? o.o

  • @IzzyXChibi try DD UU DU

  • @DRAGANKI

haha, this was so long ago n.n''

thanks! i think i figured it out shortly after i commented

i'm not horrible at guitar anymore :p

  • what i have trouble with is playing the same way while singing, when i sing my hand just refuses to play like it's supposed to and i end up playing in a simpler and not as good sounding way.Really bugs me tbh

  • very nice

  • mmm you are quite an attractive man ^_^ and good at teaching guitar

  • although an old video i just watched this today, really great job, i love bob dylan and at 16 people truly enjoy it when i play this song, thanks a lot for this video and happy play : ) !!

  • if i could just be half the songwriter bob dylan is.

  • Bob actually use a drop d tuning. And it sounds awesome!

  • youre a shitty teacher

  • could use the rythm... chords i can get in any tab website. thanks for the effort, though

  • @SuperDexi13

He can definitely sing. I found this tutorial useful.

I don't see any tutorials on your channel.

    Nut up or shut up.

  • @IzzyXChibi: I didn't say I could sing or play better than he does so why does the fact that I don't have any tutorials matter?

  • is it D d udu ?

  • Really like the song version but there is NO help or mention of the strum pattern.

Asked question about this and received NO reply.............NOT really very helpful !!!

  • Trying to figure out the strumming exactly. What are you doing with your right hand?

  • this is more a cover than a lesson - you should explain a bit more. Sill good tho - thumbs up!!

  • how to play it without capo?

  • @bibalogan tune your guitar one tone up

  • i need a capo dammit

  • Eccelent teaching and performance. You made the Guitarplaying comprehendable. Thank You. :-)

  • Gay voice

  • Best on the tube!

  • you need to speak about what your right hand is doing

  • im not too familiar with chords at all...do you have tabs or numbers for the fingers on the chords that you play?

  • @crazyhooligan253 chordbook com/guitarchords.php

  • Is it just me or does the strumming get a lot faster (when playing along to the original recording) when he hits the verse "take me disappearing through the smoke rings of my mind"?

  • your video is very easy to learn this song tanks!

  • the byrds did thos first. . , . . . just saying

  • @dnggy hmmm... you dont know anything about music history right? Bob wrote this song, but hes manager: Albert Grossman did sell a copy of bob performing this with rambling jack elliot and thats the byrds version. Its aviable on Bob Dylans Bootleg nr7 No Direction Home soundtrack. Disc 1 track 14. Learn your history before exprecision yourself.

  • @dnggy i read in a beatles book that bob dylan wote it, always played it live, but never really released it so the byrds make a recording of it. so you are wrong.

  • @erfegg .

Dylan recorded it first., on Bringing it ALL Back Home.

  • @dnggy your an idiot

  • Dude you are my savior, i finally learned these songs nad it took me like 3mins great job

  • not exactly singing it like dylan, but good nonetheless

  • I bet you get a big boncon when you see how many hits this has had -more than any song by the alarm , runrig or jethro tull - and well deserved I'd say.

  • great thx !!!!!!

  • hey amazin stuff.. just one problem with the strumming..r u plucking any single notes in it??

  • NIce traing video. Well done. This really make this song sound so much better than just playing the chords without your dynamics.

  • lol your vocals are so gay dude. Good otherwise.

  • @jimih64 yeah because gay is dangerous, i mean come on, men that likes men instead of women? shit im scared shitless. get lost.

  • @Angloth lololol nice try? I have nothing against gay people, but this guy doesn't deserve to sing Dylan if he's gonna sing it like a fucking douche.

  • @jimih64 well fuck you, who are you to decide who can sing dylan or not? hes obviously an avid fan, and youre a homophobe douchebag, so once again, get lost.

  • @Angloth Hahahaha homophobe? You're a fucking tool.

  • @jimih64 as i recall, youre first statement invollved a homophobic statement, now i dont know about you, but in my book that counts for homophobia, so please go and end your own existence

  • @Angloth lol you're a fucking douche. Saying something is "gay" doesn't make anyone a homophobe. It's the assholes like you who love to pull the male on male ass love card at every chance that sustains homophobia, just as the pulling of the race card sustains racism. Lighten the fuck up and clean the shit out of your diaper, you annoying little bitch.

  • @jimih64 you dont know anything about me so dont draw any fucking conclusions. It's a lame, unintelligent and thougtless way of expression and im not going to accept it. Fuck off

  • @Angloth lolololololol

  • what's the chords if without the capo 1?

  • @XxBoonLiong77xX They would be G# instead of A, C# instead of D, and F# instead of G. Which could be sort of a nightmare, honestly.

  • Great. Bobs songs somehow sound better when some else covers 'em. Learned a lot from your cover thanks.

  • Nice sound and playing!

    Very instructive too!

  • The c'apo depends on the tone of voice of who sings, if your tone is low you put the capo on the first fret, and if your voice tone is equal to the voice of Bob Dylan you must put the capo on 3rd fret anyway.. like you vid, I would be glad if you could watch my cover ' watch?v=wWLg3jvXwkE ' Thanks a lot

  • same guitar as me (L)

  • This was one of the only songs I could play, a long time ago(the song had just come out) I may have to get a guitar and try again!!

  • starkidcomix is the strum pattern D-D-D-U? and is he hitting the 4th or 5th string first as the base note?

  • thanks man i had some other chords that worked but it didnt have that really really happy factor

  • man this is awesome! big time dylan fan!

  • your voice is really gay....

  • @mypalsatan

Fuck off kid! he probably sings better than you plus dylan had a high voice that make him gay?

  • @BestMattBeast

All I said is he had an effeminate voice geez....

I think that's an accurate assessment. You don't need to be so pugnacious you know.

  • great u tell us the chords but there absolutley no explanation on how to strum or antthing at all. wow good song but dont put lesson on ur video if u dont even teach it...

  • @MuskyKeekers well if you cant pick up on how to strum by yourself then you fucking suck at life, its really simple, he teaches itjust fine.

  • Great.

  • Kid. this is one of the best versions of the song i've ever heard. I'm a long time listener of Dylan (20 Years) and i'm very critical of the covers. Tambourine man is my favorite of his songs. You know what you're doing man.

  • you dont even explain how to use the variation

  • omfg this is the greatest song I've ever heard and I think I can play it even tho i am still a noob!! I never heard this song until now wtf was I missing!!! omg I wish I grew up in the 60's and 70's and all that instead of the gay as 80's and 90's!!!

  • @MClown69 haha man this is exactly how I felt when I discovered Dylan yrs ago.

  • ...same chords that dylan plays.....a little bit different strumming..but it sounds realy great....i like your version

    greetz

  • yea whats the strum pattern?

  • fantastic.

  • What kind of guitar is that? Sounds so great!

  • Looks like a Lyon/Washburn

  • where the Em is gone!!! keep going man u did a great job!! music is not made to be perfect!!

  • dude could atleast fcking explain the strumming pattern????

  • your good at the guitar. Good. No not good. GREAT job

  • @aarshow No, just good...

  • I think you did a great job. I tried your version when I started playing the guitar a year ago and it was challenging. Now it looks like I should take another stab at it.

  • This is very very bad. Almost as bad as my singing. My opinion of course.

  • your opinion sucks ass

  • 5% is explanation and 95% is u playing the whole song

  • He never said it was for noobs :)

  • Good job, thanks

  • Not only did you play the entire song incorrectly, you also cant sing worth a damn.

  • I think it sounds great :) good job :)

  • F all these fags that throw down bad comments. It sounds awesome to me

  • good boy eat ur vegys

  • cant sing

  • nice video! what's your guitar's model?

  • what is the strum patteern for this?...please help me

  • down down up up down

  • I try not to make negative comments on youtube videos, because it's pointless, but this really blows.

  • absolutely great version love it!! im subbin!! :)

  • Great,well done

  • Your guitar sounds nice.

  • cool. i've seen a different progression, it involved using an e-minor for half a bar near the end of each phrase in the melody.

  • This is an awesome instructional video. You rock, howtoplaydylan!

  • does anyone know what the strumming pattern is?

  • ok,if u have the capo on the first fret, then put ur first finger on the 2nd fret on the A string, and ur ring finder on the 3rd fret of the B string.

  • Can someone tell me the fingering for this G chord? Thanks.

  • it's really easy. you only use 2 fingers

    G020030

  • Excellent strumming, perfectly in time, i'll come followin you.

  • Wow, we dont care about the chords, we care about the strumming! Dont make a lesson if you dont add this..

  • just listen

  • just listen to it...and if you can't figure it out on your own, then do me and the mankind the favor not to play guitar because then you suck at it.

  • You dont start of being a real talent :)

  • word.

  • Very polished - Good job.

  • What is the strumming pattern for this song?

  • Wicked mate. Love it

  • and its dropped from e to D

wit 2nd fret on low e string held down when u play the A

  • u sing realy well 2

  • Buudy, This is amazing. Its the coolest. Its pure JOY. Thanks man. Thanks a lot for sharing the song. Please share the guitar tabs if you don't mind.

    ~Anand

  • what is the strumming for this song

    bass chord bass c h o r d

down down down up down up

  • Hmmm what guitar he is playing? Yamaha or Ibanez

  • takamine

  • This is the best lesson ive seen. Thank you.

  • Good lesson!!! can you do more Dylan songs lessons?

    Thanks

    Koen from Belgium

  • 3 Chords and the Truth....awesome!

  • hey! Your version is very good .. really talented .... please try out the "I want you" I think it will be a good song

  • The most important for this song is a drop D tuning (6th string tuned down from E to D). Try this and you will have a much fuller sound for all 3 chords. Play G with open D on 6th string, play A chord and with thomb on 6th string play F#.

  • I've never tried it like that. Great comment.

  • You're welcome. Dylan's "It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding" also uses drop D tuning, with different chords (F and G) and a scale pattern down on the 5th string (notes) from open A then up to C, B, b-flat, A. Also "Love Minus Zero, No Limit" with capo in second position, drop 6th string down from E to C and play C chord. The G-chord in the song is then played with 6th and 5th strings at 4th fret, and 4th, 3rd, 2nd strings open, 1st string at 3rd fret. This provides a lot of responance to chords.

  • what is the fingering of the g chord?

  • can someone explain the strumming here....?

  • Well played bro. Thanks for sharing.. :-)

  • That was brilliant

  • Nice video! Helped a lot!

But what is the strumming pattern?

  • dont whine when u sing dylan

  • actually Bob usually capoed on 2nd fret ,playing the song in E,check Bob out ,,,right here on you tube

  • so fuck you

  • spread the word brother.

  • SHIT i have been playin' for 2 months and still not compin -.-

  • Good instructional vid the hard part is getting it into progression and the strumming

  • Do you mute the High E string (the thin one) when you play your Variation of G?

  • very good voice!!! good job!

  • I learned how to play this with you help easily. Your strumming pattern is difficult for a beginner. Strumming on the off beat. I am still working on it. i also have a g-series Takamine. Great guitars.

  • I've got the same guitare. Takamine G-Series. :)

    Great guitar

  • What you guys there, reading this comment, suggest me to get the rythim pathern? I have difficult getting rythims.

  • Really liked this but why don't people give you the strum pattern?--I'm a moron and find it difficult to work them out

  • again... great stuff fella! glad i happened upon your music tonight... tiz music to my NOW soba ears!

  • you have the same guitar as me!

  • Awesome! Thanks man! I love this song and this was a great vid!

  • not easier its exactly the same but you get the D on the 6th string to make the d-chord sound more full. i think dylan sometimes plays the last line of verse/chorus G/b - A - D - G/b - Em - A - D...well notice the Em.. just one little thing, could leave it out just as well.

  • yes, you should play in D tune. its much easier!

  • the song is in drop D!

  • Can someone please tell me how to play th A chord...? thanks

  • awesome playing..

  • I disagree, the fact is WE ALL KNOW THE CHORDS, and if we didn't, we could just look them up on any old guitar tab website and we'd have them then!! And the difficulty in this song lies not in the chords but in getting the strumming right. The later is what should be paid attention to in a video where we have the facility to see and hear what his right hand is doing. For everything else, we can just get off any old guitar website so why bother?!

How instructors keep missing this is beyond me.

  • Agree'd. There is no reason to just show us playing the song if it is a how to video.

  • how do you play an A? i have everthing down other then that...

  • just barre the 4 highest (highest sounding) strings on the 2nd fret but only play the 4 middle strings

  • I think if ur a beginner you should try to find the strumming yourself,, even if it doesnt sound sxactly like Bob Dylan u at least made it ut own version.. U will gain a lot in the long run by doing it urself..

  • I would think the strumming would be the easiest thing to do. Just mute the strings and go with him till you get the beat. And always move your foot to the beat.

  • to all you people who want to know the strumming pattern you can play around with it until it sounds right. with strumming you can play it a little different and it will still sound like the song so it`s not the most important thing and it will make you a better guitarist if you learn how to strum for yourself

  • Yes very true, I am only a beginner but I always listen to the songs I play and try to find a strumming pattern that I like best.

  • Thanks from France

  • very nice but could you explain the strumming.

  • haha dude who was complaining about strum pattern i was thinking the same thing thais aggravating

  • why the fuck can't ANY of ye instructors explain the strumming pattern, ye ALWAYS seem to neglect this (which is the hard element of the song for the beginners!), ughhh very frustrating...

  • I think its because its a great exercise for what is a basic skill to be acquired. I am struggling with this as well, but correct it as I go. Watching the videos help and listening always assists in the detection of errors.

  • Its great exercise if you have the patience to be wrong all the time, but its just frustrating when you sit there forever getting it wrong.

  • It can be frustrating, but as you go along it becomes easier. You won't get it wrong forever.

  • agreed, as a beginner this would really help, but then these people are posting the info for free , out of thier own time.

  • bannerman, grow up, why would anyone take the effort to transcribe an entire strumming pattern, he showed you the chords, and to the rest of you, stop being so bloody lazy and work it out yourselfs, hell, you dont even have to do that, can you not see him strumming it? jeez !

  • I can also see him forming chords. So why not leave that out in this "how to" video too. I don't know if you should "grow up", but you could at least have a valid point before criticizing others. There is no reason to consider the chords any more or less important than the strumming pattern to someone trying to learn to play the song.

  • My earlier comment was directed at SirMetaKnight6

  • That doesn't even make sense, be a bit more clear.

  • your really good i like your version but i need more work on how to strum

  • I can't get the strumming right, how exactly does it go?

  • i do (G)down down up down up down up

    (A) down down (D)down down up down up down up

    it sounds right to me
