The most important for this song is a drop D tuning (6th string tuned down from E to D). Try this and you will have a much fuller sound for all 3 chords. Play G with open D on 6th string, play A chord and with thomb on 6th string play F#.

Dylan's "It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding" also uses drop D tuning, with different chords (F and G) and a scale pattern down on the 5th string (notes) from open A then up to C, B, b-flat, A. Also "Love Minus Zero, No Limit" with capo in second position, drop 6th string down from E to C and play C chord. The G-chord in the song is then played with 6th and 5th strings at 4th fret, and 4th, 3rd, 2nd strings open, 1st string at 3rd fret. This provides a lot of responance to chords.

I disagree,the fact is WE ALL KNOW THE CHORDS, and if we didn't, we could just look them up on any old guitar tab website and we'd have them then!! And the difficulty in this song lies not in the chords but in getting the strumming right. The later is what should be paid attention to in a video where we have the facility to see and hear what his right hand is doing. For everything else, we can just get off any old guitar website so why bother?!

I think its because its a great exercise for what is a basic skill to be acquired. I am struggling with this as well, but correct it as I go. Watching the videos help and listening always assists in the detection of errors.
