  • Grunts do the killing and the dying

Yet they rarely speak of their deeds

You may pass an old grunt everyday

And never know what he has done

But he knows what duty means

Has paid the cost in pain and loss

He smiles at your whining idealism

    And smiles with subtle disdain

  • nice video man !! lol nice song ! hehe

  • nice work. I am surprised our current involvement in the middle east doesnt spark the deep criticism as in the viet-nam days, the difference may be with the draft situation. Spirit one of the finest bands ever, and hope some day there will be a movie made about the life and times of the band with Randy California.

    PEACE!

  • Good marriage of visual and audio. Can't see a divorce anytime soon though.

GREAT mournful tune. Used to think it was The Doors, note the line, "Somebody tell my father, I died", is a ringer for Morrison. The keys recall Manzarek, too.

  • MY TAXES ASS

  • cool song, first heard it in 68 or 69 as a child, I like how that even though you are against the war you just let the video and images speak for themselves, no added comment except at the end. good job.

  • Spirit is an excellent group. Songs such as this one are timeless. Thanks for the comments. I felt the song was more than enough comment on the video tour. Thank you for seeing my vision as well.

  • you re very bright with a lot of talent

the bush administration would have loved this tape to promote the war and would have been effective since most tv commecials all relate to 60 s music . i m a democrat against the war but admit this video would have changed my mind about the war positive

keep up the good work your talent is a gift

  • Thank you, Mickey. I am also an anti-war activist, and a veteran. I am not against the soldiers, but against the politicians who are too cowardly to do their own fighting, choosing instead to send young kids to do their dirty work. Than you for the nice comments.

  • Wow, great song, and the topic you decided to choose.... phenomenal. I applaude this video, not that I hold any influence upon you kind folks in cyber world.

  • All comments are influential, actually. Thank you for the nice comments.

  • Thanks.

  • I love the video. Another example of your special touch. How about using 99 Red Balloons by Nana. There is war references in it. If anyone could do it, it is you. The english version would work better. Maybe listen to the song and see what you think. Thanks and take care.

  • Thanks for the suggection. I don't have a copy of the song in my library of music, but I'll find it. I like the song. Thanks again.

  • love the song! do you know any more songs by spirit?

  • Most definitely! I have the CD's Spirit, The Family the Plays Together and the Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus. I'm a huge Spirit fan. I am looking for another subjet to put their music to.

  • The war is still a viable and powerful subject.. Spirit was popular when we were protesting a different war.. I had this 45 and slap wore in out.. had Uncle Jack on the back.. on the war.. Fresh garbage and Natures way would work.. mostly thanks for putting up Mechanical World..

  • Once again, you've managed to put together a mighty impressive collection of footage!

  • Thank you Prev. I'm trying to get another one together. Any suggestions?

  • Have you considered Edwin Starr's classic, "WAR!"...?

I've tried working on that one, off and on, for nearly a year now.

But, for one reason or another, it's a project that keeps getting "shelved".

Maybe you'd have better luck with it.

  • An excellent suggestion. I'd have to agree, it would be a difficult one. I'll have to think on this one. Thanks.

  • Nice effects.

  • Thanks. It was fun doing this one.
