Also, the 2000hp viper is impressive and does prove that there is no replacement for displacement. however, at 8.4L the viper really doesnt have a practical application with that much hp- it's a dyno queen
Also note that the BMW s14(2L) and the s38(3.8L) have been known to make 1400hp- using 50-80% less displacement

If you don't realize technology and car price point go hand in hand, then you should read up on it. The M5 was $85k in '03 and the SRT8 is $50k, today. VANOS/OHC/individual throttle bodies don't come cheap.
A replacement S62 is 5x's the cost of the SRT 6.1. Please don't say that GM/Ford/Chrysler don't have the engineering capability to build what BMW does, because the fact is that their price point doesn't allow it.

I wouldn't say that the Americans do EVERYTHING better than the rest, but they're catching up quickly. The fit and finish in American cars is still lacking, but is quickly improving. The two areas where the M5 surpasses the SRT in this case are fit and finish and handling. And that's worth an extra money to some. But to those who don't care, or just like going fast in a straight line, the 300C SRT8 is a good car. Of course, cars like the C6 and ACR obliterate their German rivals.
and now go to a track, you will see why BMW IS THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE.

It’s funny how everybody says that a 300C is a piece of shit. Virtually all the videos here on youtube show it holding its own. As for how it performs at the track, from what I hear, it does pretty well for a car its size. Yeah, it’s American, but let’s face it… it is a badass car (especially when you consider the price). I definitely wouldn’t mind owning one. You are entitled to your opinion, but don’t bash a car without first doing your research.

@Onlythestrong231 are you serious? a 760Li and s63 AMG do pretty well for their sizes. the 300 is just a silly excuse to put a big engine put "srt-8" on it and have a bunch of people who are all about "american muscle" go buy it. its a sad car. i see alot of black people buying a 300 and putting 22's on it. you want a real car buy real luxury and power, not the 300. just my opinion, but there is really no way that the 300 can hold its own.

@e38bmw89 When you look at price to performance ratio the SRT8 is not bad at all. Not everyone can afford an AMG. Not everyone can go into a dealership and buy a new M5. You are acting like the 300 and the “real luxury” cars you refer to are priced equally. Of course there is a difference in performance when you look at the very best that BMW and Mercedes has to offer. But to say that a SRT8 is a sad car that can’t hold its own is just fucked up. And is it sad because black people drive it?

@e38bmw89 A fully loaded 760Li cost almost 3 times as much a SRT8; of course it’s a superior car. But when did I ever directly compare a 760 or AMG to a 300? All I stated in my original post was that a 300 SRT8 is a badass car and people shouldn’t bash it.
Not one professional car website or magazine deems the 300 SRT8 as a sad car. In fact, they get many favorable reviews across the board. Just go and read and stop talking shit you racist fuck.

Srt8 is alright but not drivers car, it goes very well in straight line @ at corners all the 1.9t weight comes in one of the tyres and that's no good. Other than that it's all good. Checkout my video on CRAZY CHRYSLER.

ok everyone who is saying that mopar is trash is retarted. first of all lets look at the price difference between the two cars. srt8 is around $50 fully loaded while the new M5 is around $85-$90..... if you take that price differential and put it into performance for the srt8, there wont be many cars that can compete with it, let alone the M5. now dont get me wrong i love the M5 its an amazing car but there is no need to hate on the srt8 its just a different type of car and a different price

@dicap456 the difference is take them both to a road course even if the srt8 has 200 more horsepower and youll see when the straights end why the bmw was $69.000 msrp when first released, the bmw is a race car that is street legal, where the srt8 is a straight line muscle car.

M5 is faster... comes down to driver, as its racing stick vs. auto. First two takes should also be discredited because its a well known fact that aftermarket intakes will lose power on the M5.

@krugerwr .... FYI the E39 bmw M5 if purchased new in germany came an optional 500,000 km warranty. There were conditions of course but no other car in history has ever had a warranty like that offered.

I wouldn't say that the Americans do EVERYTHING better than the rest, but they're catching up quickly. The fit and finish in American cars is still lacking, but is quickly improving. The two areas where the M5 surpasses the SRT in this case are fit and finish and handling. And that's worth an extra money to some. But to those who don't care, or just like going fast in a straight line, the 300C SRT8 is a good car. Of course, cars like the C6 and ACR obliterate their German rivals.
