hmmm if u actualy read what i sead it says, "for people with a 360 ellite thers plenty room for it" MEANING you wont have 2 change disc as the hard drive on the ellite will be big enuf to install.
I don't think all it requires is an installation. Only games that have "extra content" require an installation from the extra disc to play upon the first disc (like Forza 3). But Final Fantasy 13s extra discs aren't "extra content," but is a continuation of the story from the previous disc.
It don't, but it makes it allot quieter and loads faster. plus you dont have to keep changing disks, you just keep disk 1 in the drive and load from the HDD.

My god, this generation is so fucking lazy , First it's the "long loading times" and now it is disc swapping.
The longest loading time I have see for this generation was 30 seconds and that's only because the game was huge. That's nothing. I remember when simple games had 2 minute loading screens. I also remember when most huge games had two discs like Resident Evil 1-4 and Final Fantasy 7-8.

Only reason why im getting it for the PS3 is so 1. I Don't have to disc swap 2. Most places like gamestop who have multiple discs of game stack them or put them in envelopes scratchin the disk. and 3. As you can tell, when it comes to RPG games that originally voiced the game in japanese i'd like it to stay in japanese because already watching the english voice acting for the game actually doesnt make me wanna play it

For FF13 there will be more for PS3 than for Xbox360 i assume.
There will probably be VO for PS3 version and extra stuff compared to Xbox360 since the graphics will take a lot of capacity.
Thats for one reason why some games arent on xbox360. Some games that are being re-released for PS3 will also have extra stuff like Tales of Vesperia.
VO is voice over. Currently a lot of English versions of JRPG all had Japanese VO cutout because of limited spaces on DVD's.
FF13 director did say people would like to play the game in original japanese VO as well in the English version. But the final works is unknown because everything on the xbox360 ver is compressed whereas PS3 isnt.
So there either might be Jap VO for PS3 or not. Depends on how SE decides.
I dont like english voice actors much for anime or for games.
English voice actors lacks emotion and flexibility. Japanese voice actors however fully embody themselves into the character and thats what make them so much better.
Most of the time english VO is very monotoned, single theme, not emotional, lack epic, lack flexibility, lacks everything.
there is always an annoying voice in Japanese character creation, just like an anime.
Yet annoying but cute.
Overall, i would still choose japanese voice acting over english. IMO its done with more finess and emotions. Sometimes english seems kinda dull and lack the popular "bancho" (badass) attitudes.

it doesn't matter if it takes 4 dvd's or more. it's not like your going to have to keep swapping discs every time you put in the game. you had to swap discs for ff7 8 and 9. It'll be cool to see artwork on the discs, but im going to pick it up on ps3 because playing a long game like this will give me the 3 red rings on xbox

Also the fact that games like TOV and Eternal Sonata have extra content on the ps3 has nothing to do with the fact that the blu-ray has more disc capacity but rather to give consumers, who have already bought the game for Xbox 360, a reason to rebuy it.
Im not saying the extra content is related to blu-ray or anything. The fact im stating is that all the RPG that are getting re-released for PS3 have extra contents because these games are all originally tied to the PS franchise instead of xbox360.
Xbox360 has loads of RPG but none of them got any marvelous sales. In fact all of them have low sales compared to the PS3. Xbox360 got better sales in Japan and other parts in Asia, but anywhere else the sales was poor.
@yuna238 Lost Odyssey also has 4 DVDs and it's a Xbox 360 exclusive. The Last Remnant is 2 DVDs and is also an exclusive.
RPGs are normally massive games and that's why they use a lot of disc space, not the fact that they have been designed for a particular system (there is no Final Fantasy on the PSX that has less than 3 CDs).

You can go look at the reviews of the game on google. Xbox360 will have compression data while PS3 isnt. So compression data might influence the quality.
I looked at Gamespot long time ago and they reported FF13 PS3 will have Jap VO which xbox360 doesnt. But im not sure right now since things might have change.
@yuna238 the xbox 360 will have like a major compression because the demo that came with the advent children complete was like 5gb in size so the real game could take all of the ps3's disc space while xbox 360 would have like 5 discs even with major compression.
the xbox 360 has like 8.5 GBs and it would actually be 7GBs in eac disk cuz more that 1Gb goes to security and anti-piracy protections and that kind of stuff. while the ps3's blu ray disc has like 50Gbs of space.
for this whole multiple disc issue, FFXIII will probably only have one disc for the ps3 and have multiple for the 360 if they want to keep the two experiences for each console identical. personally i don't mind multiple discs, but i'll probably be picking this up for my ps3.

Of course this year PS3 exclusives look better than the Xbox ones since the PS3 had BIG NEW TITLES like uncharted 2 and the xbox 360 had ODST and L4D2 wich ran on older engines (ODST used Halo 3 engine ffs), but if you look at last year, the best looking exclusive was GOW2 hands down.

I dont know about all of you but I for one am excited it will be on the 360! I was a ps2 owner, I didnt buy the Xbox, but when I figured out the price of the ps3 vs the number of exlusives I wanted (mgs4) I figured ide have to sacrifice my final fantasy. The only way I was going to get a playstation was for a FF7 remake, but now that this is for 360 maybe if they do remake it it will also be for 360! Im happy about it!
thats a bit of an exaggeration, if final fantasy 13 is one single layer bluray disc which is 25GB of data, i would only require 3 or 4, and for dual layer about 5 or 6, because dual layer bluray is 50GB, so please stop over exagerrating
sorry but guess what it's already been confirmed today by Kitase that Final Fantasy 13 for the 360 will ship on 3 discs and just to let you know that 3 dvd discs does equal 1 blu-ray disc because each dvd disc holds 8.54 GB so if you put 8.54 times 3 that equals 25.62 GB in total so yes 3 dvd's does equal 1 blu-ray disc so no one is exagerrating
nope not at all. a lot of ps3 owners were saying that FF13 for 360 was gonna be on 5 to 6 discs but they were dead wrong and from what it seems FF13 isn't as big as lost odyssey because lost odyssey was on 4 discs and that game took up about 35 to 40 GB so lost odyssey is the biggest RPG of all times
but what differentiates Final Fantasy and Lost Odyssey is that Final Fantasy games, traditionally have been amazing experiences for each new installment. Lost Odyssey somewhat does not interest me. Even though I am not a big Final Fantasy fan. But 3 discs is somewhat nostalgic as many PS1 or other console games required multiple discs, and they were considered some of the greatest games of all time. Sony fanboys are hypocrites by the way. I don't think all it requires is an installation. Only games that have "extra content" require an installation from the extra disc to play upon the first disc (like Forza 3). But Final Fantasy 13s extra discs aren't "extra content," but is a continuation of the story from the previous disc.

It don't, but it makes it allot quieter and loads faster. plus you dont have to keep changing disks, you just keep disk 1 in the drive and load from the HDD.

My god, this generation is so fucking lazy , First it's the "long loading times" and now it is disc swapping.
The longest loading time I have see for this generation was 30 seconds and that's only because the game was huge. That's nothing. I remember when simple games had 2 minute loading screens. I also remember when most huge games had two discs like Resident Evil 1-4 and Final Fantasy 7-8.

Only reason why im getting it for the PS3 is so 1. I Don't have to disc swap 2. Most places like gamestop who have multiple discs of game stack them or put them in envelopes scratchin the disk. and 3. As you can tell, when it comes to RPG games that originally voiced the game in japanese i'd like it to stay in japanese because already watching the english voice acting for the game actually doesnt make me wanna play it

For FF13 there will be more for PS3 than for Xbox360 i assume.
There will probably be VO for PS3 version and extra stuff compared to Xbox360 since the graphics will take a lot of capacity.
Thats for one reason why some games arent on xbox360. Some games that are being re-released for PS3 will also have extra stuff like Tales of Vesperia.

VO is voice over. Currently a lot of English versions of JRPG all had Japanese VO cutout because of limited spaces on DVD's.
FF13 director did say people would like to play the game in original japanese VO as well in the English version. But the final works is unknown because everything on the xbox360 ver is compressed whereas PS3 isnt.
So there either might be Jap VO for PS3 or not. Depends on how SE decides.

English voice actors lacks emotion and flexibility. Japanese voice actors however fully embody themselves into the character and thats what make them so much better.
Most of the time english VO is very monotoned, single theme, not emotional, lack epic, lack flexibility, lacks everything.

Yet annoying but cute.
Overall, i would still choose japanese voice acting over english. IMO its done with more finess and emotions. Sometimes english seems kinda dull and lack the popular "bancho" (badass) attitudes.

it doesn't matter if it takes 4 dvd's or more. it's not like your going to have to keep swapping discs every time you put in the game. you had to swap discs for ff7 8 and 9. It'll be cool to see artwork on the discs, but im going to pick it up on ps3 because playing a long game like this will give me the 3 red rings on xbox

it has to have 3 or 5 DVD dual layer because FF13 is originally for PS3 and xbox360 has to accomodate for the massive graphical data.
Also I heard xbox360 does not get all the extras that ps3 gets like the Japanese VO.

If you have sources to prove otherwise feel free to post them.
Also the fact that games like TOV and Eternal Sonata have extra content on the ps3 has nothing to do with the fact that the blu-ray has more disc capacity but rather to give consumers, who have already bought the game for Xbox 360, a reason to rebuy it.

Im not saying the extra content is related to blu-ray or anything. The fact im stating is that all the RPG that are getting re-released for PS3 have extra contents because these games are all originally tied to the PS franchise instead of xbox360.
Xbox360 has loads of RPG but none of them got any marvelous sales. In fact all of them have low sales compared to the PS3. Xbox360 got better sales in Japan and other parts in Asia, but anywhere else the sales was poor.

@yuna238 Lost Odyssey also has 4 DVDs and it's a Xbox 360 exclusive. The Last Remnant is 2 DVDs and is also an exclusive.
RPGs are normally massive games and that's why they use a lot of disc space, not the fact that they have been designed for a particular system (there is no Final Fantasy on the PSX that has less than 3 CDs).

You can go look at the reviews of the game on google. Xbox360 will have compression data while PS3 isnt. So compression data might influence the quality.
I looked at Gamespot long time ago and they reported FF13 PS3 will have Jap VO which xbox360 doesnt. But im not sure right now since things might have change.

@yuna238 the xbox 360 will have like a major compression because the demo that came with the advent children complete was like 5gb in size so the real game could take all of the ps3's disc space while xbox 360 would have like 5 discs even with major compression.
the xbox 360 has like 8.5 GBs and it would actually be 7GBs in eac disk cuz more that 1Gb goes to security and anti-piracy protections and that kind of stuff. while the ps3's blu ray disc has like 50Gbs of space.

If you are gonna compare Lost odyssey on xbox360, than that comparison can be with PS2 since FF games never had more than one DVD on PS2.
Xbox360 also have RPG games only on 1 dvd. The muiltiple disc depends on the detail and amount of content the game have.
Long RPG or big games like Forza 3 have multiple disc.

for this whole multiple disc issue, FFXIII will probably only have one disc for the ps3 and have multiple for the 360 if they want to keep the two experiences for each console identical. personally i don't mind multiple discs, but i'll probably be picking this up for my ps3.

Of course this year PS3 exclusives look better than the Xbox ones since the PS3 had BIG NEW TITLES like uncharted 2 and the xbox 360 had ODST and L4D2 wich ran on older engines (ODST used Halo 3 engine ffs), but if you look at last year, the best looking exclusive was GOW2 hands down.
There is a wrong idea floating around that the PS3 is a MUCH more powerful machine than the 360, just read a real hardware comparison review and you'll see what I mean.

I said look on any gaming site, star ocean will not be made for ps3, not that one atleast, the last remnant doesnt have a release, the ps3 has not even 10 exclusives scheduled for 2010, and not even 5 worth buying, the 360 has over 10 popular titles and 25+ more exclusives. Not to mention Square has come out with numerous RPGs ALREADY that they did not work with Sony on because Sony didnt think they were worth the money, like Star Ocean: The Last Hope and The Last Remnant (which is supposed to come out for ps3 but still hasnt) And they were both great RPGs, Star Ocean proved that the 360 can do RPGs as good as any system, and when Final Fantasy announced VII would be on the ps1 nintendo fans were upset about it, but it ended up being the best selling FF to date.

Well you see, from the time of the ps3's release the 360 has still outsold them by a long shot, its not due to releasing at the same time its due to the 360 having cheaper prices, and many MANY more games. The ps3 has like 2 worth while exclusives, why the 360 has 50+ and mostly all games that are on the ps3, thats why people buy the 360. And that argument stated no reason on why it should be released ps3 only, instead u said i was right on the sales part and gave more reason for the 360 release

Umm why would it be better Lone? Have you seen the sales records for ps3 vs 360? The 360 has 5 times the consumers than ps3, if they released it exclusively it wouldnt make near the money that it will with both consols. Its not like they cant make a good story because its on 2 consols you moron. And as for graphics, the ps3 will have a little bit better graphics than the 360 as always, but who gives a shit, RPG fans are happy about it so dont cry

I dont know about all of you but I for one am excited it will be on the 360! I was a ps2 owner, I didnt buy the Xbox, but when I figured out the price of the ps3 vs the number of exlusives I wanted (mgs4) I figured ide have to sacrifice my final fantasy. The only way I was going to get a playstation was for a FF7 remake, but now that this is for 360 maybe if they do remake it it will also be for 360! Im happy about it!

Sunnuva...The main reason I bought a PS3 was because I was positive that Final Fantasy would be an exclusive.
Oh well, At least I got a blu-ray player out of it, because the few exclusive titles sure as hell don't make up for the 500 bucks I paid for it.

thats a bit of an exaggeration, if final fantasy 13 is one single layer bluray disc which is 25GB of data, i would only require 3 or 4, and for dual layer about 5 or 6, because dual layer bluray is 50GB, so please stop over exagerrating

sorry but guess what it's already been confirmed today by Kitase that Final Fantasy 13 for the 360 will ship on 3 discs and just to let you know that 3 dvd discs does equal 1 blu-ray disc because each dvd disc holds 8.54 GB so if you put 8.54 times 3 that equals 25.62 GB in total so yes 3 dvd's does equal 1 blu-ray disc so no one is exagerrating

nope not at all. a lot of ps3 owners were saying that FF13 for 360 was gonna be on 5 to 6 discs but they were dead wrong and from what it seems FF13 isn't as big as lost odyssey because lost odyssey was on 4 discs and that game took up about 35 to 40 GB so lost odyssey is the biggest RPG of all times

but what differentiates Final Fantasy and Lost Odyssey is that Final Fantasy games, traditionally have been amazing experiences for each new installment. Lost Odyssey somewhat does not interest me. Even though I am not a big Final Fantasy fan. But 3 discs is somewhat nostalgic as many PS1 or other console games required multiple discs, and they were considered some of the greatest games of all time. Sony fanboys are hypocrites by the way. As well as some Microsoft fanboys.

almost every game on the ps3 uses single layer but the only games that uses dual layer are metal gear solid 4 , god of war 3 and final fantasy versus 13 and that's it.

Wada is an hypocrite. And there's no surprise that Kitase and Nomura hates him. When FFXIII, Versus and KHIII are relased expect Kitase and Nomura to leave S-E. Many thinks it will give a new fresh blood inside of S-E if these guys leave but if they leave Nomura will for sure take his team with him. There have been rumors about joining Sony when it comes to Nomura and Kitase.

Compare Wada to Hajime Satomi of Sega Sammy. I would take Wada any day rather than that piece of shit Satomi. Wada may have said no creativity for their games, but some of their "Creative" games were terrible. At least Wada does not destroy the reputation of the company, or is not a high ranking Yakuza member (supposedly Satomi is)!!!
