Oh hai! Have you ever tried - fast abs magic (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my buddy got really defined 6 pack abs and lost a lot of fat with it.

  • Hello there! Have you ever tried - fast abs magic (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my sister got ripped Six pack abs and lost lots of belly fat with it.

  • Been working out for 8 weeks or so, measured 13.3% last wednesday.

    Feels good man.

  • I am always at 10%, but when competition comes for body building, I go down to 2-3% its great, but I wouldnt recommend it to everybody, you walk around like a zombie and you are always tired haha

  • Well, a healthy body fat percent for a man is between 13 and 17 percent. Athletic persons who are training for competition, can sometimes have a body fat percentage of below 12 and even 10 percent. This is not the average, however.

  • It is NOT healthy to have really low fat levels. This idea is very hazardous.

Top level athlete's who maintain that low of a body fat percentage are not healthy studies have proven this and the athletes know it.

Humans need fat to be healthy. Not a lot, but some. People who are underweight suffer just as many health complications as those who are overweight.

Side note: using BMI is not a great indicator of body fat percentage.

  • Hey steve, what do you recommend on maintaining muscle mass during the stomach flu? I can't seem to find my apetite. I can only drink liquids, such as gatorade to replenish the electrolytes. Any tips?

  • @SuperGtellez That's very difficult. All you can do it get well and then start eating and training again. But don't worry, it comes back fast.

  • @SuperGtellez oooh. I've been there. Steve's right. Best thing for you is r/r.

  • is 20% body fat bad for a male age 18 215Ibs 71in/180.3cm? I dont look particulary attractive but is it at least considered in the "healthy" range. I'm starting to work out so I just wanted to know so I could set some goals

  • @Spankydaham924 15% or less is considered healthy for a male.

  • I got mine checked at gym today and it's 20%, it's always been below 25%, I've had it done before. I'm 18 and female and was shocked because I don't have a fit toned body. I have some muscle on me but I have little waist definition and hip width, it doesn't look fit or attractive to me. I thought I'd look attractive if I had a body fat % of 20!

  • DOn't forget to explain that some people are genetic gods lol. Some people out there can work out moderately but have such good production and balance of their hormones and still look at feel great. This is why i believe doctors should always check their patients t3 and t4 levels, and get them on synthroid, even if their levels are in the low average.

  • I have an omron body fat analyzer, two days ago it said 23 percent, yesterday it said almost 26 and then today it said almost 25 ??? How can this be acurate, I do it at the same time every day and it is hard to know if I have gained or lost with these results. Frustrating really, I am working so hard and see muscle definition but the analyzer is so here or there with numbers I wanna scream.

  • ha ha im 14, i just checked it at a gym...

  • Weight: Between 142-145

    Height: 5'11

    Age 26

    Male

Here are my stats...You have 8% body fat.

You have 11.4 Pounds of fat and 131.6 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water).

Its hard to see my abs...few reasons...

    A) I didn't shave

    B) No tan

    C) I was fat

  • if you got a lil gut and test at 12 percent it's actually acurate abs come out at 8 percent or lower not at 12

  • @pavy415 the proven fact is anything 8 - 12% body fat will show your abs depending on your abs size and how well developed they are

  • @AmericanGMS I will agree on you that some people look ripped at 12, 11 and 10 percent body fat but those are special cases for the majority of people they need to drop at 8 or lower to see them.

  • @pavy415 well im at 17% body fat right now and i can see my abs but not alot but i can still see that their there

  • @pavy415 lol.. thats hilarious..

8% BF% to get visible abs? u srs??

Most people can see them at 15%.. haha you're the prime example of people he talked about in the first few secs of this video.. :D

  • @damlurker well I ment a full set of 6 pack abs not just bearly be able to see them I should of said that clearer

  • @AmericanGMS mine r pretty small so they aren't defined to be big.

  • Omg wtf. I am 14, fucking only 100pounds and metabilsm is through the roof. I eat 5 times a day now, and Im still skinny as hell. And even if I try working out, I cant develope my muscles enough.

  • @Leok450

How much are you sleeping? My friend had this problem and solved it by working out 2x hard and resting 2x hard. It helped him a lot. Don't worry man as long as you keep at it I GUARANTEE you will see gains, you just have to perservere through the frustration, trust me I know?

  • @Bookstop1337 Lol yeah I get like 9 hours of sleep sometimes an extra 30 minutes too. Damn highschool starts early.

  • @Leok450

Hmm, I know this isn't what you want to hear but if you're resting that much it seems like the problem is with your workouts or diet. Find someone at your gym and ask them if you could train with them, or find a guy at your school who's huge and eat whatever he eats and workout however he does. Talk to people around you with tons of experience and start building your own wealth of knowledge. Just keep at it man!

  • @Leok450 carb up

start off the day with carbs and end the day with carbs

2 minute noodles for breakfast and before bed and you'll gain weight no matter who you are without having to eat 97727727872 pounds of protien

thats not the proper way to do it but it works regardless

  • @Leok450

sorry for replying to an 8 month old comment, but imo the best way for skinny people to gain muscle mass would be to lift heavy. compound excercises such as deadlifts, bench press, squats, and other lifts that use multiple muscles groups seem to trigger protein synthesis more intensly than something like a bicep curl. dont worry, your metabolism slows down naturally with age so in a few years it'll be at a point where you can pack on muscle. at 14, your still 'growing up' ;)

  • Great explaination, thanks!

  • Hey Steve what it the lowest body percentage a man can get to without throwing his body functions out of whack or compromising his immune system?

  • @FitnessGuru1988 Like women, it's less a function of body fat levels and more a function of what your body fat WAS and how much EFFORT is needed to get and maintain the body fat level.

  • The level doesn't mean you're healthy or not.

For example, i'm at 7% and i'm very fit and fine (160 pounds 6 feet). Probably many people would stay better with a 9-10-15%, other instead could have a lower % without problem. It depends.

If i were 22% i would be fat (not much, but definitly not slim) for example, not healthier than now

  • I am a female college track runner at 21% body fat. This guy is dead on.

  • @SheaBierman Yes, I know! LOL! Thanks again! Keep up the good work.

  • Steve, THANK YOU for your videos.I have a major concern.I am a female 5.5'' tall, 115lbs body weight, with 16.4% of body fat.Muscle and bone both are 12.7% of body weight. My dietitian said i need to gain body fat bc is low and this way i would avoid serious health problems in the future.I walk 6 days a week for 1 hour, thats all i do for exercise. How do you see this situation? It feels gaining 10 lbs i would look overweight but yet i need to be healthy. What is the best for my health and looks?thx

  • @battams1 Thanks you!

  • hey steve what's you body fat percentage??

  • @paulioj101 Don't know. But if I wanted it lower wopuld just do a bit more cardio.

  • @BodyPerformanceTV you need to be more specific when you say that though because people assume that you mean you need to jump on the treadmill an extra half hour when you dont need to. just any kind of activity that elevates your heart rate up a little bit and gets you active to burn a few more calories. even things like cleaning the house burn extra calories.

  • Im 140

    5'11

    17

and My BMI is around 18

    is this good?

  • @mlgsentinel67 18 is good but the BMI scale is not the best to determine if you're in good shape because it doesn't take into consideration muscle mass.

Theres also more great info on my BlogTalkRadio show. Go there search & Steve Turano. The show can also be downloaded from iTunes. The most recent shows can also be heard on my website home page (at the bottom) once they upload. Tell a friend! ~Steve

  • @BodyPerformanceTV

5'10" 140 lbs and 2% Bodyfat, tested on electronic machine and with calculations like waist, neck etc, both show 2% bodyfat and I look like a Pure Mesomorph, I guess I got some God genes on my back, hahah :D

  • @MaNTePsE impossible.Neither electrical impedence or callipers are accurate anyway.Theres more than 2 % error for both so possibly your 4 %

  • @billysue2

I am just mentioning the results of Both electrical callipers and old school measurment, both show 2% and is propably REALLY close to it, there is no way to much discrepancy on the results of both test, and I don;t consume many calories, only protein and I train dead hard. case closed.

  • @MaNTePsE as ive said, both are inaccurate ,especiallY electrical impedence at least to a few percent.Only a lab could measure you more accurately and even they contain errors. The only men even near 2 % are elite bodybuilders for a few days per year.If you ate only protein youd be dead years ago,its impossible.

  • @billysue2

You are totally missing the concept and the bare truth. I said I consume low calories, I emphasize on protein, not that I never eat carbs or fat, that is not humanly possible anyway. The measures can't be both totally innacurate.. Trust me, if you are an ecto or mesomorph and eat less than 2k calories per day it is possibly, it's not even that hard, Considering you've got a fat-burning body,

  • @MaNTePsE we arent discussiong a concept, its a claim you made .You also said you ate only protein, now you say you also eat carbs and fat which is obvious anyway. The measures dont have to be totally innaccurate, just 2 or 3% out and your claim would be believeable if very rare for a non pro bodybuilder. There a handful of athletes under 5% in the world ,so it must be pretty hard.If you ate less than 2k cals a day ,you cant be doing any training, its another impossibility.

  • @billysue2

Clearly the answer is a fail, I have been doing low intense workout for yeark eating only 1.2k to 1.8k calories per day... It's 2% whether you like it as an answer or NOT... Waist size is 27.3 inches for a 5'10" guy 140 lbs. I can prove that you can work also hard eating only like 1.5k calories. Now that would be hard to watch cause you're propably on the 20-26% BF level. Go whine against another fat individual. I am not worshipping you're agresiveness nor your poor knowledge.

  • Air Jordan in his prime 2% Bodyfat!

  • @EpTommy18 mike was nothing like 2%.Basketball players wouldnt be low as a group. There probably like a handful of male bodybuilders in history who ever reached 2 %.Theres no accurate measurement anyway so precise figures are unreliable

  • im a wrestler and im

    5'2

    119 lbs

7% bodyfat well was im feeling a little bit fatter off season

  • Usually agree with this guy, but you do not need to be an athlete or do tons of cardiovascular work to be in the 5-12% range....Its all done with diet . I went from 16% to 8% and I never did ANY cardio

  • Ja, it sounds like a lot. But i'm actually quite thin.

    - and sorry if it is misspelled, but i am from DK.

  • is 23% body fat, alot for a kid in the age of 13?

  • It's a bit high. 15% or less would be better.

  • @TheLaserBurner think about it, 23% means almost a quarter of your body is fat

  • i hold 8% from lacrosse all year round 5'11 155 lb its great I get to eat more than 3000 calories a day and stay lean.

  • I am weighing myself on a TANITA body fat monitor, this moth I "lost" 4% of fat, I was 23.5 now 19.5, but my waist size is the same!. how can that be?

  • @GabrielNotTheAngel those scales don't do shit, they measure BMI, better off using a measuring tape

  • Steve,

    become a beachbody coach!!

  • Comment removed

  • what is better for burning fat/calories; jump roping or running?

  • Running by far!

  • Age: 24

    height: 5'11 - 6

    Body fat: %10

I used to be around 4-5% before I started bodybuilding and eating lots of calories

  • Creatine will not burn fat.

  • you were not 4% maybe 5.

  • Could make a movie of how to measure body fast if you have no machines.

  • Could someone tell me if this is a bad size to be?

    I'm 18

5'11 and weight 175 pounds give or take a few.

  • this doesnt seem like a really bad size, its probably healthy but you need to ask yourself if its 175 of mainly fat or theres a sizeable portion of lean tissue there. Dont read into BMI and weight charts its all horseshit , look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself if you look in good shape. My best advice is sell your car , start using public transport. Buses and trains are shit, they are usually badly located and the extra hour of walking each day does wonders for your body fat.

  • Hey thanks alot man for the advice.

People tell me i'm in great shape, i look fairly slim and my arms and back are pretty toned up. I always used the exscuse that im heavy boned lol!

  • Its horrible you will probably die soon

  • im 19

5'11 and weight 161 ur alright

    im lik3 10% b0dyfat

  • yes, you're going to die with those stats...

  • age:15

    weight:8st 56kg

    height:roughly 5"6

    Sports: Rugby and soccer

    BOdyfatlevel:between 11and 13 per cent

  • Not really. That's really good.

  • I got to 7% and can't get any lower....would it even be healthy to get any lower? 19 Year old male.

  • 6-8% is perfect for six pack abs and killer definition of muscle. It's highly unhealthy if you go under 6%

  • I'm 8% but I want to get to about 2-4%. I was 2.5% in high school when I was doing cross country

  • the body needs 3% BF to live, no way you were 2.5%

  • Yes I was 2.5%. Yes it's unhealthy as I was told. I was also 20 pounds underweight.

  • Actually it's 2-4 percent. so he could have been 2.5%.

  • you can achieve this stadium for a short period. arnold was below 3% in his competitions, and stallone for rocky 3 was below 3% too

  • yes and no.

Bodybuilders go under 6% all the time...they stay around 3.5-5%

This is only seasonal though so your partially right. under 3% is dangerous! Its like a cars engine trying to run without any kubrication, it wont work!

plus Freakishly low BF% will allow you to get sick more frequently, not too mention it is extremely hard to maintain yearly!

  • I don't think you need to be as active as a collegiate biker, runner, swimmer or wrestler to achieve 12% body fat or lower. I have seen plenty of people with nice six packs that are not nearly as active as a collegiate athletes. Don't get me wrong... they are not coach potatoes, they just EAT HEALTHY and stay active. You don't have to be insanely active, just make sure your eating properly and stay active enough that your consistently burning more calories than you consume. (calorie deficit)

  • 11st

    age:17

    height:5'9

    body fat: 9.1%

  • Stop biking and boxing for cardio. They're not the best. Start walking & jogging. Calculate your TOTAL daily calories. Low fat can still make and keep you fat.

  • i don't know what the hells happening with me. I changed my diet to lower fat, cycle 10 miles a day, box 2 times a week and 3 days at the gym. My BMI is 25.3 and my Body Fat is 22.7 - the same as it was exactly a month ago. WTF

    12st (76.5kg)

    Age 39

    Height 5' 8.4"

From the uk. Measured in Boots chemist on same machine over a month. It says on the ticket for Body Fat:

    16.1% Excellant

    22.4% Good

    25.6% Average

    32.1% Poor

i am not muscley but i have solid legs and arms. HELP please!

  • you can't help that..... your a LIAR

  • What is your calorie intake like? Are you tracking what you eat? Regardless if it's "low fat" or not, you will still need to create a deficit, and stay consistent with this deficit throughout the weekend. Also, if you do the same type of cardio for too long, your body will grow used to it (Hence why you'll see chubby looking instructors at gym classes, but they have crazy endurance/stamina.)

    just my opinion.

  • Sorry, but that's not how it works.

  • CReatine - NO Protein - Yes. Excess protein will be converted to fat. We just don't need that much protein to build muscle. Normal eating gives us more than enough.

  • Sir, the point of protein powders, mostly Whey, is to give almost instant repair, and enerdy to your muscles, before bed before a workout and 1 hour after, all times when you need to repair, or give energy, also i recomend Bcaa.

  • does creatine help losing fat??

  • yes, but only use it if you don't mind retaining water

  • does that mean my face will also get swallowed?

  • hey man grat vide i was looking for something like this but i have a question i wanna lose weight but i also want to get muscle i started using creatine and pretein can that affect me from losing weight??

  • Skip the protein powder, keep weight training and add 20-30 mintues of cardio 3 times a week. Then give it 2 months.

  • I wanna lose body fat to under 10 percentage im on this high protein low carbs diet. Would this diet help me achieve the goal that im aiming. I do go to the gym 4 times a week intense weight training. I do take protein supplement as well . what are yr thoughts on that?

  • Im 18stone and 5foot 10 i enjoy being fat because i can eat more and at the same time burn alot more calories by moving which also builds muscle mass.

  • So what percentage do you need for a six pack?

  • about 6% or less than that if you'r a guy

  • you need 10% or less for a guy

  • I'm 23.5% bodyfat and I'm beginning to notice mine, so I guess it's person specific.

  • If you are 23.5 you shouldn't see too much. Are you sucking it in and flexing?

    Pics.

  • i'm 18, 5'11 and i'm roughly 160 to 165 is that a good weight? and i hit the gym 3 days a week

  • mmm ya thats good. depends on what those 160-165 lbs are.. it seems a little light.. but then again if ur just lean muslce then its all good. If not i would try and gain some muscle. Either way ur not overweight, its just a matter of what ur muscle to fat ratio and body shape are, and most importantly how you feel about them.

  • Thanks! Remember, height and weight are important but body composition is more important. So if somebody is 6'1 and fairly musclar at 185 lbs that's good! But if they're fat and out of shape that's not a good weight.

  • I've tried to search for a chart on google if any to see what an average would be for my age(24),height(5'10") and weight(150).Do you know of a site I can check for both Male and Female?I appreciate it.

  • hey steve, first of all i love all your videos, but ive been wondering whats my average weight since im 17 and im 6'1 feet weighing 185

  • You're doing better than me lol.. I'm the same age and same height @ 200.. I was 215 but 180 is the normal weight

  • As with ALL statistics there are other factors involved. You certainly can be in great shape at 24%! Depending on your age and fitness level getting to 20% will take A LOT of effort and dicipline.

  • Cut off 22% for women and 15% for men sounds a bit low. I'm a female at 24% and in pretty good shape, even have some ab definition. I'd like to be 20% ideally but I certainly don't consider myself to be out of shape because I'm above 22%.

  • Absolutely. DO NOT use BMI to determine if you're overweight. It doesn't take muscle mass into the calculations. MY BMI is 30 and I have a tight six pack!

  • is it possible to be overweight without actually being overweight.

as in weighing more then the BMI for 5"10 and not looking overweight

  • Great job.

  • Exercise is important but it doesn't burn as many calories as people think. And they don't exersice as consistently as they think. People aren't accurate in the amount of calories they're eating OR they don't eat that amount consistently. Make sure you're eating 1500 calories a day. Eat that amount consistently. No or very little snacking. When you're hungry &bnot sure what to eat, eat fruit.. Drink liquids qith no calories. 6. Exercise consistently. Be accurate, consistent and patient.

  • I'm working out seven days a week. I would be famished every day if I ate just 1500 calories.

I dropped my body fat in three months from 16.5% to currently 12.5% to 13%. During this period my daily average intake was between 1900 and 2400 calories.

  • Steve,

I'm an 18 yr old guy and I work out 6 days a week in the gym doing intense weight lifting and I'm starting to do interval cardio, however, I am still around 14 - 15% body fat and I eat a very strict high protein low fat, moderate carb diet and I am having a terribly hard time getting down to my desired 8 - 10% what can i do?

  • Im 27% right now and im aiming for 15% but im worried about skin sagging.

I started at 34%, do you think i will have saggy skin if i get to my goals... im 27 male.... if this helps.

Great informative vid... keep up the good work

  • It's hard to tell. There are factors like how long you were heavy, how heavy you were, the elasticty of your skin. Keep doing what you're doing and when you get to your goal IF you have lose skin we can deal with it then. It might not happen so why worry just yet!

  • My pleasure!

  • This man knows his fitness. Kudos to Steve for posting this information for all to feed off. THANK YOU.

  • That's going to depend on height and age but a healthy man is about 15% body fat or less. So if somebody has a bit of a belly they are probably going to be higher than 15%. Don't worry too much about body fat. Just exercise and watch your snacking (do both consistently) and the fat will come off.

  • steve how much body fat do u have approximately when you have some fat on your abdominal area im really confused about this issue, how about 15% should i have a belly poppin out if im 15%

  • Most scales are accurate to 3-4%.

  • How accurate are Tanita or other body fat scales?

  • They're just not very muscular or in shape. That's why guys like you and me workout.

  • The test might not be accurate.

  • steve, how come some skinny people out there have a lot of belly fat that makes their body look unproportional(or pregnant)?my brother has some extra fat around his stomache but his arms/shoulders/legs etc. look small.. how does this happen?

  • Im 23.4% but my Abs are almost showing through and obliques almost, im at 205lbs hows that possible? I thought Abs dnt show through till around 13%? I thought I was around 17 to 18% obvously not according to this test..

  • TY!

  • awesome

  • Using a DEXA scan or water immersion are the best. But most are accurate to within 2-3%. The trick is to use the SAME method all the time. So even if the numbers are not perfectly accurate you can see in they're going up or down.

  • I have used different Body fat calculators, but they show different results! Which one should I trust?

  • hi steve, i used to have abdominal fat, but i don have it now. i workout 5-6 days a week. i even have a sixpack abs. my trouble is the lower abdomen of mine protrudes like a pot as if it is filled with gas. Can you give me any suggestions.

  • Good question. It might just be the accuracy of the test. Most body fat tests are accurate to within 2-3% so youre reading is not going to be exact. Remember, if your strength stayed the same or went up you know you lost fat and not muscle regardless of what your test says!

  • ok on this i have got a question for you. I am 5'11 tall . weighted 80.6 KG body fat = 10.7% then after few weeks done it again at 76.1 KG body fat is 11.7% how does this work ?. I work out 6 days days a week weight training . with 3 days cardio.

    thank you

  • Fuck you!

  • (I'm talking to the spammer "5ch00lbond"

  • i have 3,9% and im not doing anything like swimming etc :D im way to thin

  • "i have 3,9% and im not doing anything like swimming etc :D im way to thin "

I have about 4% bodyfat as well. Many people say that's too thin. It's not TOO thin, maybe it doesn't look sexy to many people, but if you're in good condition, who the fuck has the right to say you're TOO thin? Maybe it LOOKS too thin, but that doesn't mean it's unhealthy.

Marathon runners, their bodyfat is -extremely- low. Are they unhealthy? Heck, they're prolly more healthy than 90% of the people.

  • Word, both of your guys probably look awesome. If you think you're way too thin, maybe you should just lift weekly, then you'd fill up just enough to be perfect. ;)

  • The best thing to do for weight loss is to decrease either the quantity of the foods you eat or increase the quality of the foods (meaning lower fat & sugar.) The main purpose is to take in fewer calories.

Next you need to either increase the intensity, the frequency, or the length of time of your cardio. Fewer calories and more cardio will burn more fat. BUT both must be consistent and you need to be patient.

  • im at 18% and i realy dont look fat with my shirt of but still i wanna get to 10 % thats my goal. i can only see the abbs under mychest the other ones are hiden under the fat around my belly button how do i get rid of it?

  • My pleasure.

  • For healthy people it's 15% or less for men and 22% or less for women.

  • I also read 22% for men,and 30% for women....this is from a United States Marine Corps recruiter when I was speaking to them about joining.

  • THX for the numbers. I was a little shocked when I heard that I have 23% (as male) because I always thought I was lean.

I definitly goin' to start training again ;-)

Thx for inspiration and sharing knowledge!

  • Dude it's not 15% for men and 22% for women it's 22% for men and 30% for women

  • dude, i think steve is right on this one.

  • I'm in my last year of harvard medical school so yeah I know what i'm talking about

  • funny thing is, i just looked up healthy body fat percentages and steve is right on the money. sorry mr harvard. fitness level is 21-24% for females and 14-17% for men. acceptable levels are as follows 25-31% for women and 18-25% for men look it up

  • lol i hope your never my doctor.

  • i dont care if you are in your last year at harvard or your fuckin 50th year at harvard, point is i bet steve has the literature to back up his statement. if you can show me proof that you are right, i will post an apology to you for all to see.

  • dude shut up damn if you knew anything you would know this guys ripped adn hes actualy an EXPERT on shit. Stop being a hater.

  • Something else that should be mentioned is that older people tend to accumulate fat internally, around their organs. This fat can affect your body fat percentage but not your appearance. So, a 40-year-old at 8% can look the same outwardly as a 20-year-old at 6%. It's also the reason that teenagers can achieve 3-4% and not necessarily be unhealthy. An adult at that level would probably be constantly cold and have a compromised immune system.

  • LOL
