The longest gap was from late in 2001 to February 2008. We had an awesome party this past August 5 with a big turn out. Hopefully more of the 54 Dance Party's will follow.

So true! People actually KNEW how to dance back then & got dressed up to go out! No people put a tank top & some jeans to go to a club!! Thank you for posting & helping me to relive an awesome time!

  • 1977. Written/produced by Gloria Jones. Gloria was Marc Bolan's girlfriend at the time of his death in 1977. She had a son with Marc Bolan and they called him Rolan.

  • If you were sitting down when this was played, then there was something seriously wrong with you!!The ultimate disco toon!

  • OMG,was 14 when this came out could not get into any clubs. He ripped the ish off this song loved it then still love it.Go Gonzalez makes u wanna dance all night. My brother & sisters lived in studio 54

  • OMG,was 14 when this came out could not get into any clubs. He ripped the ish off this song loved it then still love it.Go Gonzalez makes u wanna dance all night.

  • I love this video, it reminds of the old days, I never knew what Gonzalez looked liked.

He looks good and feminine; I like that very much in a man!

  • What a great tune!!!co written and co produced by Gloria 'Tainted Love' Jones and her brother, the late great 'Big' Richard Jones, both of which were in turn helped in their musical careers by the late great Marc Bolan.

As far as I know there are three versions of the song the original 1976 EMI 7" single mix and the 7 and 12" mix which came out in 1979 on the Sidewalk label.

Not sure if there ever was a 12" EMI mix at all, nver seen a copy yet,but would love to get one if it does exist.

  • Waoow !!! First time I see this promo video GREAT

  • I haven't heard this jam in years. Thanks for sharing.

  • Regards and love to the brilliant Lenny Zakatek and all the other ex members of the great band....

  • I love this.

  • Found out from Wikipedia that the lead singer on this 1 was none other than Lenny Zakatek, usually associated with Alan Parsons. Hit #26 pop, #46 soul in Billboard. How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • no wonder why disco died

  • This is everything that disco was! funky baseline, catchy guitar riffs, orchestral instruments layered on a conga drum rythym and spandex and lame outfits. When the music scene was about looking good, feeling good and having a great time. Too bad we can't bring those days back!

  • This version is great, but I love the S.A.W. version more.

  • woohoo!!! damn!!! hardout rememba this from back in the day..awesome..

  • every day i see less and less dresses on women,,,more pants,,more pantsuits,,jumpsuits,,skinny pants,,,,,less frilly atire,,,,,too bad,,,,,women even walk like men now,,,,,what happened,,,

  • Haha I love this! here I am 56 years and feeling like I am 21 again...and believe me "I haven't stopped dancing" since..There is and will never be music like the fabulous 70's...This music brings me back to a much happier time...I will always cherish the memories of this phenomenal music to reflect on the way the world was back in the day! So proud to have been in this era and wouldn't change it for the world.. Great music, good friend and awesome times..

    Thank you for sharing

  • @2009Denisem I agree...I haven't stopped dancin yet...

Oh yeah girl, I loved this song :)

    It's Alright Alright Alright Alright!

I don't think I wud want 2 B w/someone who doesn't know all the great things there were back then and from Motown.

    Our history in the 50's 60's 70's 80's is very valuable 2 ME :)

  • @2009Denisem Ah this bring back memories of happy days, and it was a time when we were young, carefree, innocent and a simpler time, where's that time machine when you want one.

  • @2009Denisem .....you are so right! 57 yrs young here and still dancin'

  • @porkie1953 Let's Dance!! Its Alright, alright alright!!!! :-)

  • @2009Denisem The first time I heard this was when I got the Studio 54 Soundtrack and I loved it ever since. I was born in 1979 when this song came out so I can't say I remember it hahaha! But thanks to youtube and other sites I've learned to love and dance to this and other disco tunes from that time...DISCO NEVER DIED, IT JUST REINVENTED ITSELF AND ITS STILL OUT THERE IN MANY OTHER FORMS :)

  • @leoguy1979 Yes, you are right DISCO will never die!!! Ahhhh STUDIO 54, The Loft, Paradise Garage.. Yes those were the days my friend!! MEMORIES!!! Miss those days indeed.. Peace!

  • @2009Denisem This music was beautiul. These were much happier times. These day we are all tarined to be followers n not think for ourselfs. We are brainwash into thinking the times are great. BUt who are they fooling. I wish Iwas born in those days.

  • Fantastic, brings back my childhood. Thanks for adding this!!

  • I was just 12 years when this song was being on radio broadcasting many times everyday. I remember that in High School one girl used to bring a Panasonic radio cassette player and just the teacher left the clasroom and he or she was far away, my girl classmate pressed "Play" and 8 or 10 buddies jump to front of the blackboard and they started to dance as crazies. Those were the days!!!!.

  • So maaany memories with Uncle Toffa...RIP...I love u and you will always live foreva thru this song

  • Great song ! Written by Gloria Jones of Marc Bolan fame ! She was producing them at the time .On one CD this track was actually credited to Jones / Bolan !!! ( Blame it on the boogie compialation )

  • One of my favorite songs to dance to back in the disco era.

  • haha they all look so happy

  • @Victorian105

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

  • Video GOLD!!! :D

  • nothing comes close to 1978 ,,,girls in dresses,,guys in jackets,,,everyone dancing ,,and dressed to the nines,,,,,30 years ,,,nothing even close,,,girls all look like tatooted ladies in the circus,,pants,,,etc,,,,guys go out dressed like shit,,,nobody dances,,,just wiggle,,,we all look like a bunch of watusi in the bush,,,some progress,,,,oh yeh ,,rap,,,

  • yep, you said it, totally agree with you. Dancing was everything, what times we had.

  • @nastylefthook1 a big AMEN!!!! I totally agree...Miss those days indeed! Thanks!

  • @nastylefthook1 Sho' you right...That's why I am overdressed to EVERYTHING I go to :)

We used to wear nylons, bras, and look very "pretty"

I know for a fact that many youth don't even want to bathe these days :(

Thank God my 21-yr-old son doesn't like tatooed girls either...I may be cool, but I'M NOT GETTING a tattoo...Men look sexy to me tatt'd up...A "GUY" thang... but leave my skin alone :)

  • @nastylefthook1 Also...what I told myy neices...You see a lady and she is in a suit...then you see an agly tattoo...nothing "cute" or femenine...

Suddenly you give yourself a different "jaded" idea of the lady...even tho' you don't know her...

Life is hard enuf w//o U makin people get a preconceived notion about you, ya see what I'm sayin?

  • @nastylefthook1 Im with you, buddy!

  • @nastylefthook1 I agree 100% that todays music sucks and that disco is excellent. They wont ever make anything better, I can assure you. But Ive gotta disagree 100% when it comes to looks. go down to South Beach on a Saturday night and then try to tell me the girls dont look good !!

  • @nastylefthook1 fyi the ladies now are only about 1000% hotter than in the 70's

  • @nastylefthook1 It's okay, you can have the dresses and jackets. I'll take the knowledge of how to correctly punctuate my sentences!

  • @DominicFear With your reputation, one would have thought you more mature than that.

  • @nastylefthook1 fantastic times. were did they go, and why so fast!

  • its a lovely song!!

  • Thanks a lot for beautiful memories I have with this song.

No one but a million thanks.

    Thanks.

  • No one on America's got talent can ever beat the natural talent that arose from the niteclubs of NYC and around the world.

  • My goodness, what a lively tune. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention that Lenny Zakatek is an extremely gorgeous man!

  • cheers.i used to dance to this at clouds in preston back then.

  • omg, clouds in preston. what happened to those days??

  • Absolutely amazing! THANKS.

  • Yes wish the clock could turn back to 1979!!!

  • AMEN!

  • girls slip on those candies and hit the dance floor...

the intense aspect of most songs during this era is that most make references to not stopping dancing/not stopping the music...its as if they all knew that this form of disco would only be around for a few years...

I on the other hand "havent stopped dancing yet"...even if "they take away the music"...

thanks for posting this awesome retro vid...

  • Love it Disco will always live on!!

  • Everytime I listen to this song I feel the urge to jump and dance til I drop exhausted! Great song.

As Mike said there were a few extended versions.. Does anybody have the 12" with the long long intro (it was magic)

  • yes on youtube there's the long 12" version
