They need to get a serious DAW in here like ProTools, who wants to pay like $2000 for cubase and fucking reaper! im not dissing the Neko its a great machine but they really need to get some pro audio software in there!
Almost all of those DAWs do the very same thing. It's mostly a case of a different way to do the same thing. ProTools is what it is, mostly because it was one of the first and grew a lot faster than the others. Because of this, most people in the business are familiar with it...and as such, it's a standard in the studio, as standardizations allow a common ground in workmanship. But, to dismiss the other DAWs as "unprofessional" is stupid.
Platinum producer and Timbaland's follower and competitor Mark Holiday, is also use Open Labs products. He use "MiKo", and sounds really revolutionary like Danjahands. They all use that stuff.
But what model of Open Labs products is the best for original hip-hop producers? I mean Classic? Like Skott Storch or for example?
That thing is powerful but how he gon say you aint serious about music if you just got a laptop? I'm very serous bout mine and I got a macbook pro logic8 and a gang of sounds. Im just as capable of producing hit music as any other system.
i gotta agree with on that one! ive used the mv-8000, dont get it messed up, the mv is superb considering that i am an mpc man.. but the neko is so true to what i do with everything i use in the studio.. i wrote what i wanted the choir to sing in the neko and the choir sang it!! the choir im talking about is the vocals i played on the keyboard!! this is so efficient that it consolidates the 5 keyboards i have into 1!! and i still use my mpc 2000 !! and it aint gonna slow up my process..
interesting to hear that he uses an external MIDI sequencer.
too bad that OpenLabs doesn't run the VST's in Linux like the receptor. I like to avoid Microsoft or Apple completely when it comes to music, and stability
This thing is way more than just a computer with a keyboard.i think the Neko has three hard drives in it.what does that mean?you can put well over a millon sounds in one unit and not carry around twenty different keyboards or racks around. I can load all of my Triton Studio sounds in this thing.Plus you can run Protools,Cubase or any softsynth. in this thing.Look up Open Labs and check it out.
Plus when you load all of those vsts in your computer it just slows it down.I think it is well worth it to have as many sounds in one unit as possible. That way all I would need is my MPC 4000 and the Neko to do a session. You can seq. with the Neko or the Meko but I still prefer the MPC.Thing thing is bad.Timbo used it to make Sexy back, his new album and some stuff for Nelly Furtado.Lil Jon uses it too.The equip. will not make u a star but if you know how to use it it can save u a lot of time.
yeah, if i was using VSTi's and software i would go straight for the Neko cause it is a whole studio in one and i would rather get it than a ROMpler cause you can add as much sounds and synths as you want.
But im more into sampling and i dont think this machine is better for that purpose than the MV-8800.
that's true why didn't he mention spm that how i no him from

This is just a computer build in a keyboard right?
I would like to know what makes it special except the fresh look. Why dont just get a big midi-keyboard with a padcontroller and faders?
