  • Bringing Close Encounters back to LIFE!

  • Great job!

  • what is the voice u punched in at 1:35? beautiful!

  • Hey hal this is 1 of my favorites

  • Nice!!!!!!!!!!

  • @caseygeist1 Thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • to slow...... im sorry but i'm skipping this vid

  • @randomvid110 Skipping? Why is that? And why is it too slow? This is a VERSION, mate. If you don't like it, that's one thing. Still... writting a comment say "I'm skipping" is rude (to say the least). I do think there's creativity here! WELL DONE, Halun.

  • @cc1sportingtorver Thank you for defending my song. All the best.

  • remove the pop beat drum thingy and it'll be great

  • vendé vous vos musiques ou peut ont les trouver sur internet en grande surface sur cd en mp3 eçaetera...

  • pfhahaa...that I also have to try....extraterrestrisch good! ***** haha.

  • I like the doll on the keyboard

  • Thank you!

  • I just have the feeling a sequel wouldn't have the same feel as the original, it'd be made for the people of the current age to view and like, so instead of being more of an art film it'll be something just...less.

  • @Zeracan They would totally screw it up if they'd make a sequel. They'd probably think they'd need a new 5-tone melody and instead of something that has some mathematical logic, like the current one, they'll come up with something completely nonsensical and have the aliens kill people or something like that. They'll do everything no-one wants and nothing sensible.

  • hhhh

  • Nice work Hal. You get a lot of mileage out of the YPG. I know you have a Fantom as I have seen you playing it but these mid-range keyboards have so much power now. Great sound and the arranger sounds really natural. I will add the YPG to my gear lust list.

    -Sam

  • @newpro5657 Thanks. Yes the YPG is a very good value. It performs very nicely, especially when played with external speakers.

  • That was great!!! Hold on to that, you never know, they may make a new version or a sequel to the movie.

  • @BRUCE0591 Thanks. Great advice! I hope they do make a sequel. I liked the idea that they portrayed music as the truly universal language.

  • This is so awesome!! I love it!

  • @FanaticoSodaStereo Thanks much for your feedback.

  • There's already a Boston Pops version of CE3rd from the late 1970s.

  • @sorova Yes. And fortunately there's no similarity of his CE music theme to my song at all. As an interesting side note, John Williams took the most recognizable section of Disney's "When you wish upon a star" song and inserted it midway in his version of the full length music theme for the movie. Peace.

  • i love the seventies

  • @laneatlileden Thanks. Yes I think a lot of great music came out that decade.

  • awesome thnks for uploading

  • @caseygeist1 Thanks much for listening.

  • Amazing!

  • @mppagano Thanks. Glad you liked it.

  • What is the beat @ 0.49? I have the same exact piano. I also like the improv at 1.45

  • @MrPiano2458 I believe it's Style 45 Hip Hop. The bass sound at the beginning might have been109 Analogen but I'm not sure. Half of the fun is searching through all the voices and discovering what works. Good luck.

  • ♥*♥*♥*♥

  • @ChantHappy Merci beaucoup.

  • nice :)

  • @Risharddd Thank you.

  • bonjour halunlimited.je voudrait savoir si vous envisager de sortir plusieurs album de vos belle musique si c,est deja fait je voudrait les titres des album est sous quelle nom d,artiste.merci halumited pour vos chansons tré belles pour les oreilles.

  • @livigedown Merci beaucoup.

  • Nice video just got the electric piano last Thursday. Is that the fargo bass sound at the beginning? you should really do a tutorial of how to do the improv at 1:18 and at 1:37. I would really like to know how to play that . But keep up the great work!!

  • @MrPiano2458 I play almost everything just by ear. But you can blow up the image large enough to see the finger action pretty well. Thank you for commenting.

  • hey this song really works for us...do you have more stuff?

  • @goldraytwinflames Yes, just check the "uploads" section for other songs and there will be more posted (both originals and covers) in the coming weeks. Thank you for your interest.

  • comment acheter cette belle musique pour la metre dans mon mp3?

  • @livigedown Merci beaucoup. You can search YouTube for "How to" download information.

  • Nice!!! Reminds me of Close Encounters

  • @AmbientElements Thanks!

  • You certainly create atmosphere.

Isn't the entire world of sound a fascinating thing! To think that all of these vibrations - some exquisitely subtle - come from a piece of wood and wire etc etc....

I enjoyed listening to your work - very imaginative.

  • @PhillipLWilcher Thank you very much Phillip. That's what I liked about the movie Close Encounters, the first time I saw it. I liked the concept that musical notes could be the basis of communication even between beings from different galaxies... Yes, pieces of wood, wire, and even silicon chips can make the vibrations to stir the soul.

  • @Halunlimited There's no more beautiful a way to communicate with each other than through music, be it with each othere here or with other beings "out there" -true! :)

    From James Joyce :

Strings in the earth and air

    Make music sweet,

    Strings by the river

    Where the willow meet.

  • Wow, very very awsome. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

  • @TheChico63 Thanks much for your note.

  • very, very Awesome...almost like the movie !! Very Creative ! Thanks..I am looking for the original of this from the movie, know where it is anyone??

  • @AWISHNSTAR Thank you very much. There is no original version of this (that I am aware of). As mentioned in the posting description, I only used the 5 notes that John Williams scored for the spaceship transmission in the movie. I then created my own music around this 5 note communication as a reply, as if I was communicating to the visitors via my own music. That was my intention. and this is how I would greet them. Peace.

  • merci a halunlimited pour cette belle musique.jaime le sinthétiseur lensenble est parfait bravo.

  • @livigedown Merci beaucoup!

  • That was fucking sick. You totally gave me an Idea!!!! Thanks Hal.

  • @melophace Great, I'd be interested to see/hear what the idea leads to. Let me know when you get something together. Thanks for the note. Creativity works best when stimulated by other people, places and things.

  • Fanthastic ,I still remember well the film and the synthesizers tones. Your interpretation this film Music, I find very well.

    Jens

  • @Korgator Thanks much. I appreciate it.

  • That's fake. The instrument don't correspond reality.

  • Nice! But what's with the wooden dude on the end of the keyboard? Does he sing? Dance?

  • try jamming along to this. good shit

  • @WereTheImmigrants I jam, therefore I am.

  • Dude, I actually enjoyed this. The Williams theme is not present through most of the piece, but still very nice. Sounds like my old high school days in the 70's. Good disco dance music.

  • @johnhi00 Thanks man. I just used the 5 tones as a springboard, the rest is all new.

  • and enigma repeat this sound in:Back to the Rivers of Belief. on 1990

  • @algioshka Yeah, I was real surprised when I heard that on their album cause I had already used that years earlier before their album came out.

  • @Halunlimited so who created that melody in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" ?

  • These sounds are awesome imagine a chior and you create a trane for the human soul. Very spirit lifing from sorrow to uncontrolable joy. Good talent sir.

  • @MrWretchedman Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your comment. Yes, Choral voices can have a transporting effect. I enjoy using the the voice effects on synthesizers. It feels like I'm conducting a choir.

  • The aliens replied. They loved the song, but were confused about the part where you said you shaved donkeys.

  • Great song, something i'd like to know is if you can use the yamaha ypg-635 as a midi controller(connected to computer)

  • @fengshuay Yes you can use it as a midi controller via the USB connection. You can go to the Yamaha dotcom website and download the manual for free and check out all the specs and capabilities.

  • @Halunlimited Thanks.

  • That thing sounds amazing, for $700. That is around what it costs right? YPG-635?

  • @gjc82071 That's right.

  • 1 thing I F'ing HATE about some digital pianos & synths (Like my Yamaha PS88 digital grand & Korg Triton) Like, when you hold the sustain pedal down, if you let it off, then push on again, real fast (if changing chords), it like...holds over the last notes sustained! Sucks! Keep pushing on/off, it's like digital delay effect. When playing, everything get's all jumbled. Why the hell do they do that & shouldn't they enable some kinda of shut off? I wonder if this piano does that also?

  • @gjc82071 I would imagine that the Korg, at least, would allow you to change, minimize, and even eliminate any delay effect in their effects menu to compensate for any unwanted reverb or delay.

  • Logically you WOULD think that but it's not the case. 1 am not talking about ANY "effects". NO delay/reverb. Ok, say you play a note/chord (ALL "effects" OFF = totally "Dry") & press the sustain pedal down. If you release the sustain pedal & quickly press it again, it is STILL sustaining the last note/chord. If you're changing chords & pressing the pedal ON/OFF constantly in a song.....it keeps doing that. Dragging over the last notes played/sustained. Are you following me?

  • Who is playing this Keyboard and do they have a CD out?

  • I was listening to this while i was driving to the beach, and I sware I saw a grey alien riding a bike

  • Very soothing and mellow. Keep up the good work!

  • @natesplaceonline Thanks, soothing and mellow are nice places to be.

  • pretty trippy

  • @ChilloutSessionZ Thanks for commenting. Please do not operate heavy machinery while listening to this.

  • This is amazing. Great work.

  • I liked it. You could tell right away what it was, but then you also made it your own.

If I were an extraterrestrial, I'd think well of Earth after hearing this.

  • @SailorBarsoom Great! I'm real happy to hear that. Peace.

  • your synth is WAY more advanced than mine. All I have is a vintage YAMAHA. My relatives don't have one of this kind either.

  • You are inspiring. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my question some time ago. Sorry for the late gratitude. I love all your music. Wish I got the Tyros.

  • cool

  • This is a pretty crappy song. I think you need to differentiate between "inspired by" and "copied from."

  • kkt

  • Does this home piano feel like a real piano? And when you touch the keys, do they feel real (when you press them)?

    Thanks

  • Absolutely. For the money, this is the best piano you can buy. Believe me, I shop around. :0)

  • Thank you :)

  • Korg Oasys is incredible but it's around $8000.

  • Yes the YPG feels like a real piano in that the keys are weighted so that the harder you strike them the louder the sound. I also wanted a keyboard with the full 88 keys so that it would feel like you're sitting at a piano. Every keyboard has a different feel so try them all out before you buy. Good luck.

  • Ok, tyvm for answering my question ;)

  • @madisonen yes they are weighted. feels like a real piano and sounds like a real piano.

  • yes.

  • @madisonen it depends weather they keys are weighted and what they're made out of, but if they are, then yea, it feels like a real piano (:

  • Wow! Cool! We luved that, my German GF and I. I think you and my son have the same keyboard. I'll show your vid to him! Thanks and congratulations!

  • The lead-in wasn't very good but once you got going it was great. I'm ready for full disclosure!

  • I often struggle with whether I should build up slowly at first on a song I write, or get right into it and go full throttle. I'm not always sure which way is best to go.

  • nice. I may buy this piano. You make it look so good! But I can't help but notice...I think your "love dad" dude has passed out. Does he have a hang-over? Haha, I kidd, I kidd!

  • I'll give the little poser dude a breathalyzer test. He might have been hanging around the space bar too long.

  • cool

  • Nice to hear. Thanks you.

  • DANNNNG THATS EPIC STUFF RIGHT THERE!

  • Had to get it in just under the 10 minute YT limit. Otherwise I'd still be playing it right now.

  • wow, that's tripping.

  • Far out!

  • Nice! Good Job, i can't express more 'cause i from argentina, :)

Me gustó mucho que desde una simple melodía lograste desarrollar una composición de 9 minutos. Si vienen los aliens ponemos tu música!

If Aliens come to earth, we put your music.

  • Can you please give me the notes to it? BTW THAT WAS SOOO AWESOME!!

  • kinda funky!

  • kinda funky is pretty good. Thx.

  • Cool.

  • i saw this on the front page in the box that say recommended for you, well seeing ass im 3/4 through a documentary feature on ufos and nasa this spoke to me. nice job, and check out my doc, i have uploaded the first part, ( 9 mins version, the six mins version i uploaded is just a rough draft, ) you may find it your cup of tea, its called THE FOOTAGE, and it will be done sometime in the next 2 months. can be found via my profile, great sound and well done =)

  • Very Good. Good music. Thank you Halumlimited. I from Chile.

  • Thank you for commenting all the way from Chile.

  • The ARP 2500 in the movie was my dream machine but you caught the feel nicely!

  • I believe only about 100 ARPs of that model were ever made. Luckily Yamaha produced a few more of this YPG model. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

  • Nicely done!! What kind of figure is that in all your videos.

  • Thank you for your comment. The figure is an artists drawing figurine, recently renamed "The Poser Dude" by a fan of this channel. It was a gift from my daughter.

  • dude.. play with the volume knob less. Also, It sounds like you ripped off one of the spore premade tracks.. still not bad at all.

  • Any similarity to spore is purely coincidental as I was not even aware of spore. Anyway, thanks for listening. BTW, That was the only time I used the volume knob that way. It was an experiment. It worked for the effect I wanted at that time.

  • super cool :) sound a little like Jazz Jackrabbit a bit :)...

    nice :)

  • I love Jazz Jackrabbit!

  • The piano I have looks just like that, only smaller. Very well done by the way!

  • Thanks!

  • super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks!

  • ok.

  • cooollllll

  • Thx!

  • Patetic

  • yeah very good

    nice beat haha

    cool

    5*

  • Thanks much!

  • Grovey.

  • Thanks

  • My 6yr old started playing the first 4 or so notes that sounded like the close encounters song with some others she had made up, so I looked it up the song and came across this awesome song -Thanks it has inspired her more than I ever could after hearing you make something unique after the first few notes of the original song. She is running back and forth from the computer to the organ right now. Thanks.

  • Your note is such a pleasant and heartwarming story. It made me very happy to hear that this music could actually have such a wonderful influence and encourage your daughter to persist in making her own music. Thanks very much for sharing your thoughts. I wish your daughter much enjoyment in her learning. Looks like she's off to a great start already.

  • Cute.

  • sorry u r extremely talented, but u butchered that song...it doesent have the same feeling that the original theme song...

  • Ouch that hurts. I wrote this song and gave credit to the movie for inspiring me with the key 5 notes. This was not a song I covered from the movie. I thought I explained that in the "more info" but I guess, not well enough. So thank you for letting me know. I will retitle this so no one else thinks this is a cover.

  • oh damn now i feel bad...but think of it as constructive critisism^^

  • considering the "original song" was 5-notes I think you did a wonderful job spinning this off into other beats...

What is it about those 5 notes that sound so damned pleasing to my ears? =D

  • Considering John Williams, the author of those 5 notes is a genius, he must have chosen them very carefully to represent alien speak, just begging for me to reply to them. There's such a thing as musical ear worms, which are notes you can't get out of your brain, like "Who let the dogs out?" and these 5 notes. Check my "House of the Rising Sun" where I took the classic rock theme and added 3 of my own movements or alterations to take it into some new directions. Thanks for your thoughts.

  • Cool!!!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Wow! Nice take on a classic!

  • i have only one question about this cool music video whats that toy on the keyboard? lol great video.

  • The "Poser Dude" is a gift my daughter once made and painted for me. It's an artist's drawing figurine. Thanks for your comment.

  • I did not know that. good job keep it up.

    great video man!

  • OMG you're very good! Reminds me a bit of Duran Duran or their predecessors.. or maybe I just miss me wonderful 80s ;(.

  • Thanks. Just put up a new cover of "Human" on my homepage. Check it out.

  • Nice, i like it!

  • Thanks much.

  • Hey man i am sixty seven years old and that rocks. if allowed to say that at my age. LOL. Great work. All the best to you and your loved ones. Dwight.

  • Rock on ............ Thanks for comment.

  • Very cool -- and inspirational -- I have a low end synth and should power that animal up...

  • Thanks and, indeed, do get your synth out and start jamming and posting.

  • Good stuff!

I understand why you "wah wah'd" the opening, but it's just not my taste. Once the rythem came in, it only got better and better.

There are some other "themes" from Close Encounters you might try merging in somehow. It's a great inspiration.

    Thanks.

  • lol the dummy thingy for drawing painted in all kinds of colors

  • nice =]

  • What the hell are you doing with the volume knob?

  • That was my way of creating a kind of wah wah effect for that segment manually. Happy New Year.

  • Halunlimited recomended this and it was worth it! Amazing recording!

    5*

    John

  • Nice! sounds a bit like Krafwerk!:)

  • Kraftwerk...

  • It's amazing how far ahead of their time they were and one of my first techno influences. Glad the influence can be sensed.

  • what notes are those

  • ABG and lower G & D.

  • sounds a little bit funny but I like it ;).

    5*****

  • Thanks for your comment. Check out my House of the Rising Sun Alteration. I hope you will enjoy that too. Rock on.

  • Our 11 year old wants one of these....thanks, a whole lot. Looks like it's rice and beans for the next couple of months! Nice job!

  • Thanks for your comment. Your son will have a lot of fun with it and the great sound effects/voices may motivate him even more to keep playing. Check out my House of the Rising Sun Alteration for another demo of its capabilities. Good luck.
