An idiot? No. Let me be more accurate: Woman do have a falsetto, but in my opinion Whitney doesn't use it very often. In a few of the clips it might sounds as though she is, but I think that's more an issue of volume. For Whitney, there isn't a marked difference between the timbre of her 'head' and 'falsetto' voice.
Actually, there IS. And I know them. She doesn't use pure head very often. And pure head sounds sharp and therefore can be connected with chest. Those are pure falsetto notes.
PS: it's not uncommon that every an amateur vocalist can't distinguish head and falsetto.
Well, I'm not a vocalist at all. I'm a pianist. Whatever the case may be, Whitney Houston is an incredible singer; I respect her, and that's why I made this video.
She was just incredible. Power and soul combined seamlessly and everything she sang was magical. Too bad she threw it all away. "The voice" is gone. She still has power, but the soulfullness and range that defined her before have been destroyed. Truly one of the great tragedies of music. Just think of what she would be today if she hand't gotten involved with drugs?
Because if you are gifted of God and rely on HIm you can do ALL things :)
Yes at that time she was relying more on the drugs BUT who of us can say we're perfect? She is forgiven. This is the reason Jesus died for her and for you and for me. Celebrate Easter this weekened and remember everyone.
the term falsetto came to live in the 1600's when women were't alowed to sing in public, so men had to sing there parts in plays aswell. ( as a result boys were castrated so their voice wouldnt break> they're called castrate singers) but n e way... the men singing the female parts were called falsettists> but the register they sing in could also be called head voice
therefore it isn't wrong to say a man sang in head voice, but a woman sang in falsetto is wrong
Evidently, people have missed the point here -- I didn't post this video as a means to educate amateurs. The video was intended to serve as a singing lesson for the other so-called "Divas"...
Those notes toward the end definitely sound like falsetto notes to me. If that's her head voice, then it's a pretty weak head voice. I think her "head voice" is actually a mix with her chest voice, which is why she has so much power - she is using two resonators.
I think she can make a comeback and hope she will. I think because of her training her head voice is not as bad as this video makes it seem. I think it had more to do with the fact that she has had issues in her later years. Although, I know her voice has changed as everyone's does.
There is one person who said that Whitney Houston does not use/have what "vocal pedagogues" term "head voice"; this, of course, is false. Whitney is one of the only popular music singers who has a PROPER head voice, one which is resonant and focused, even at low volumes. Sadly, age and other factors have partly diminished this part of her voice, but it is still there. You're going to be blown away by her new material.
Love "Welcome Home Heroes". All of my peers in high school thought I was strange for loving Whitney so much. I thought I was alone. Now all of a sudden all these other fans here on youtube who love her as much as I do. Right On!!!
Nice video. I'd almost forgotten how brilliant Whitney Houston WAS. But, I think she can make her comeback. She has to, she's the best thing that ever happened to female singing.

"The Voice" is not gone and very much alive. Just because you heard some "tragic" performances recently does not mean she doesn't still have it.
In her recent performances, she's sung certain parts of a song with equal "amazingness" (Lol, I could've find a better word) as before.

I wonder how Whitney sang so great even on coke. It numbs you and I don't how well you could feel yourself resonate when your face is numb.
