  • Voldemort in Star Wars?

  • I tried making something but is speeds up the video and mutes it

  • isn't this made with hitfilm?

  • @Bibliothekaresse This short film was made back in 2008. HitFilm was released mid-2011. If we made this today with HitFilm we'd do it very differently. :)

  • Counted, there were really only 10 seconds of actual lightsaber combat.

  • WTF, those guys at the beginning just stood there shooting their dinky little pea-shooters, while a jedi is coming right at them!

  • @RubberNinjaPwn Have you watched Star Wars recently? ;)

  • U guys rock!

  • this is really good but i have one question:

how did you make the lightsab break in half?

  • @dalesfilms Once the lightsaber is on the floor, it's actually a still image, composited in. For the break, it was animated in two parts to 'snap' apart like that, then a bunch of sparks were added for the break itself.

  • 0:22 Is that jesus?

  • @basmapajo11 lol that comment made me laugh so hard

  • Love it, awesome effects! The music is doing the job and I understand that you have to cut the focus somewhere in order to get it all done but I hope next time you give me the chance to score some music for a project like this! :-) Would be my pleasure!!

  • Starwars copied this

  • @PotatoOnFire Yeah, we thought about making a fuss, but decided to let it go.

  • This deserves well over FIVE stars!!!

  • @Calaxus Thank you! :)

  • how do you motion track everything?

the thing that irritates me the most about visionlab is that theres no motion tracking

  • I got one question that has been irritated me very much.

At FXhome.com you can go to download and you can download things like planets, ships and etc. But I have wondered very long, how did they make them? In what program?

I read their description and they say it is created by Sci-fi 3D.

What the heck is Sci-fi 3D? I don't want to create those things my self, but I just want to know what program they are using and what Sci-fi 3D is.

  • @Finni100 Are you referring to the really old AlamDV2 plugins/stock footage? If so, that was created using a variety of programs, no single one.

  • @fxhome Yeah, Thanks for telling.

Can you name some of the programs you know has been used or can be used to make such objects?

  • @Finni100 Those old plugins are from about 7 years ago, so I can't remember I'm afraid - plus a lot of the software used back then probably doesn't exist anymore, or has changed lots.

If you're looking for 3D software, you should check out Cinema4D, 3DSMax and Blender - all good starting points.

  • @fxhome Thanks. Love your work!

Your the best FXhome. You made my videos so much better :D

  • @Finni100 Thanks!

  • Hey FXhome, I love your programs, can't wait to continue shopping.

Hey, you know what you should do? You should make music and sell them :D

But not like the one in this video. Much more action filled and sad music and scary. That would I surely buy :D

  • Much better than I thought it was gunna be

  • @2ndThispersonsaid Thanks, I think!

  • It Was pretty good, but the music was not so good.

I see that you tried to make your own movie and not Star Wars likely, but when it first seems like one thing it is hard to make it look different.

I know you couldn't use Star Wars Music, but you could have made music which was very similar to the star wars duels.

    Else form that pretty good

  • that was awesome.. Great effects, the movie had the right feel to it. Those backgrounds are cool too. The money i spent on purchasing FXHome VisionLab was some of the best money i've ever spent.. Unlimited creative possibilities!

  • the effects was awesome! acting was terrible and cheesy. but overall it was great. 10 out of 10. cant wait to gett his program

  • @philgunman Thanks! With the acting we were trying to match the style from the Star Wars prequels. Sounds like we did a good job! :P

  • I can't seem to get HD footage with Effects Lab Pro. I need to change the format from MOD. to a compatible one with Effects Lab Pro. I use Pinnacle Studio 12. Please help.

  • @thepaniniguy The resolution of the footage isn't generally related to the format. You will indeed need to convert the video to AVI or MOV. Pinnacle should be able to export to one of those formats.

  • i have 2 questions. 1. is cinema 4d hard and second is teragen 2 a good software if u used it. p.s. is lightwave good too?

  • @gabrielandrose They're all good and they all have their own technical challenges. As to whether you find it 'hard' will depend on your own experience and skill. I'd say try the demos and see how you get on. :)

  • F!! DUDE THAT RULES!!

  • Wow, that was really cool! Well done.

  • Thanks!

  • is there any matchmoving software that works well with visionlab

  • Not currently, no.

  • I ordered this software recently, and am waiting for it to come. I loved the lightning effect part, where you had put the extra bits coming off and then the sparks. I can't wait to start making movies with it!

  • adobe after effects has best lightning

  • What kind of video camera would you recomend to use with vision-lab? Im guessing no noise...

  • It depends what kind of thing you're doing. It's not so important what kind of camera you use with VisionLab specifically, but what kind of camera you need for your particular projects.

ie, are you making movies for yourself, or for clients? Do you need HD? Are you primarily making dramatic movies, documentaries or holiday videos? And, of course: what's your budget?

I'd recommend checking out the FXhome forums, where there's lots of camera discussion.

  • I am ince again reminded why im getting the Blockbuster movie kit for christmas

    5/5

  • Hope you like the kit! We think it's a pretty cool combo.:)

  • What is the commercial licence for in Visionlab Studio?

    Thanks

  • All of the FXhome Lab products can be used in commercial and non-commercial products. CompositeLab and EffectsLab require that a credit be included, however - this can be something simple in the normal end credits.

VisionLab does not have this credit requirement.

  • Thanks

I'll probably give credit for the amazing effects anyway.

  • Heh, thanks. :)

  • I'd probably credit it anyway :) it is a great piece of software and more people should know about it ! i definitely like the blockbuster kit and considering buying it !

  • That was blummin brilliant!

    Very well done guys!

    5/5

  • great vid but you can tell its all greenscreen

  • have you done all the scenes on a green screen???

  • Yes, the entire thing was greenscreen.

  • my only problem is the fact you have to use AVI format. I prefer wmv. AVI tends to use alot of space.

  • How much space an AVI video takes up depends entirely on your codec and compression settings. We support AVI and MOV as they tend to be compatible with just about everything and provide lots of versatility.

  • Very nice work, I bet that took you a lot of time :D

  • awsome you should make a tutorial on this video :)

  • We're making an entire behind-the-scenes DVD about it. :)

  • Those two guards deserved to die, they were the worst shots ever !

  • To me this felt like one of those trailers for a classic star wars games like Dark Forces, just ramped up by 10,000 volts of uber-ness. :P

    I loved it 5/5*

  • Awesome, thanks. :D

  • Impressive work!

  • pretty Good job.

  • lol they use fxhome. =.=

  • @EdderLoco Yes, FXhome uses FXhome software. How remarkable!

  • PWND.

  • Comment removed

  • i know! (sarcasm)

  • Amazing! Almost professional, what would you say is harder to use? FXHome or After Effects.

  • Sorry I meant to say Effects Lab Pro or After Effects?

  • after effects without a doubt

  • Yeah, After Effects is generally difficult to learn because it's a broader toolset at a VASTLY higher price.

However, the learning curve for ANY program will depend more on the user than the software. Some people find software really easy to pick up, others find it really hard.

The best thing to do is try the demos of both products to see which you like the most.

  • It's just I use After Effects, and I find it time consuming, so if I can achieve similar effects with Effects Lap Pro, quickly and easily, it would be ideal for me.

  • fxhome is 903590348057238-0 times easier to use then after effects, and also much more fun ;) oh and one more question fxhome, i downloaded the demo of your visionlab studio and for some reason when i press the ram button to preview it it comes up with a "macromedia projector has stopped working" message. anyway to fix that?

  • Hi Dayboy - head over to the FXhome website and submit a support ticket and we'll be happy to help you out.

  • Apologies to anybody that commented on this video earlier - that version had the wrong title card at the start, which has now been fixed.

  • hi um do u have a video of how u do theflying effect in effects lab pro

  • nice work
