this is actually done because everytime jiggly's shield break she's sent flying straight up pretty much for an instant KO, it has nothing to do with ness
@Eragon1476 lolololol i KNEW that waaaayy back! its funneh cuz i just wanna know if you knew that this vid was meant to show ness pressuring a sheild! lol
Ness can cancel the momentum of his second jump by using an attack. All characters can cancel their first jump by using their double jump. So, Ness jumps, cancels his first jump with his second jump, then cancels his upward momentum by using an aerial. Then, he hits the Z button before touching the ground to eliminate the landing animation lag of the aerial. The easiest way to do this is to slide your thumb across the right and down c buttons, and the A button in one motion, then hit Z.
@Ebbzzor It requires practice, but it's pretty easy. You just slide your thumb across those three buttons really fast, and you can literally spam the Z button in this game, so you don't have to worry about timing on Z-canceling. I can break shields with it, there's videos of Isai breaking sheilds with it; it's possible. The only thing you have to watch out for is when you string them together, you have to hit the ground before you slide your thumb again or you'll full hop/ tilt instead.
@bishiknight helpful information, but some of it is a little off. the reason ness can djc is because his second jump follows a circular motion. it is very slow to gain upward momentum in the beginning of the jump, so when you cancel it with an aerial attack, you just fall. try doing the aerial later in the second jump, and you will see that the attack itself does not cancel momentum. pk magnet is the only move that cancels vertical momentum for ness.
@iamamastar Thanks for the clarification. You are correct, however whether the aerial cancels his upward momentum or just stops him from getting to the part of his jump where the momentum is greater is really just semantics. Also I find that z-canceling everything not only helps my timing, but also makes me safer if I ever accidentally bair or fair while executing the fast inputs required for consecutive djc aerials. My explanation is good enough to teach and this is youtube, not smashboards.
@bishiknight I didn't mean to post a pompous "well ,actually" comment. I just think it's important to understand why Ness and Yoshi can double jump and other characters cannot. It helped me understand ness better personally.
If you haven't already figured it out since you posted this, the easiest way I've come up with to DJC with Ness is to hit the right C, the down C, and the A buttons all in one motion, then kinda just spam Z because it'll always Z cancel. I've never been able to do it too fast, and am usually doing it too slow or not Z cancelling if I mess up. And yes, I realize how old this post is. XD
Hey. How do you do that? And how do you do that thing where you run around left and right and keep taunting? When I try it, Ness stops running and taunts.
double jump really quick, then nuetral air right at once for double jump cancelled moves, the other thing is called taunt cancelling, running off the edge cancels the taunt
Ok. I just learned doing both of these thingy mobobers (pronounced like mebobers). The double jump canceling is easy but I need to work more on the taunt canceling.

Very cool. I've tried DJCing but can't seem to do it smoothly for the life of me...do I need a quicker thumb or just more practice?
I taunt cancelled for the first time the other day though, made my day.

you attack immediately after the 2nd jump.

Ha thanks, yeah I can do it semi-consistently now when I do play (sparingly), but that does seem like a good way of doing it.
