  • thanks it was a big help for me!!!!!!!

  • thanks for taking the time man.

  • i know this movie is quite old , but binary of 9 is 1001 not 1010 :P

  • This is a good video.....thank you!!

  • 49 20 64 6F 6E 74 20 67 65 74 20 69 74 20 3A 28

  • 3:17 made me laugh my head off, "And, uh... As you can see, there is a letter in this number" ... What?

  • 54 68 61 6e 6b 73 21 20 54 68 69 73 20 68 65 6c 70 65 64 20 6d 65 20 61 6c 6f 74 21

  • mistake : 9 in decimal is 1001 in binary not 1010

  • so is that what compressing files does, it utilizes short hexadecimals for the data or what?

  • can someone do this for me

    215003 XXXXXXX

    Convrt the x into hexadecimal

  • I thought this was very well done, thank you for your contribution, it really helped me.

Comparing it to our regular number system and putting the whole number x base^place digit was very helpful. Thanks again. Happy computing!

  • His representation of 9 towards the end as 1010 is incorrect. 10 is 1010. 9 is 1001. 0 = 0000 1 = 0001 2 = 0010 3 = 0011 4 = 0100 5 = 0101 6 = 0110 7 = 0111 8 = 1000 9 = 1001 10 = 1010 11 = 1011 12 = 1100 13 = 1101 14 = 1110 15 = 1111
  • ok seriously, going into powers and exponents and all that is not a good way to explain what base 16 is. It just confuses and distracts from the main point. The best way to do it is to simply start counting in hexadecimal and teach it the same way you would teach a child the decimal system and show it along side the decimal equivalents showing how once you run out of digits you move over one place. Also constantly remind them that they are the same numbers, just written differently.

  • @Unclesamslair but if you learned decimal it's just not that easy.

  • *sigh* Too bad no one remembers that Hexadecimal is Megabyte's sister, and she's scary as hell.

  • Thanks, very informative!

  • not being funny but I thought thism tutorial was going to be explained and not just read out, as I could have done that myself!!!

  • yeah but he made the slides (i think) you dick

  • Slides Which I could have read myself, did not need someone else to read it for me. Anyway if he did "make" the slides how come he couldn't explain it isntead of read it?

  • i guess, but i would not watch a video for that long without audio... you have a point tho =P

  • Some people learn visually - others learn by listening... I created the slides as well as the explanations, to a concept which is bare impossible to make sense of the first few times you try - obviously I can't please everyone but why look a gift horse in the mouth?

  • I think kind of confuse people at 4:08 where you say 20 is 2 times 10 because it's by the power of 1. I would have said 10 is 10 by the power of 1 and so on. People just need to look up "The power of" in math. =P 250878 think 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 2 = 200000 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 5 = 50000 10 x 10 x 10 x 0 = 0 10 x 10 x 8 = 800 10 x 7 = 70 10 / 8 = 8
  • I just figured hex out, its not easy but the concept is. Thanks

  • thanks alot man, great video

  • thank you very much sir :)

  • Thanks for the info!!! I'm trying to learn how to program so this is very useful! Thanks again!!

  • I wana learn :D... hard

  • Wow, to think in the 80's they hade building and buildings of people making Operating Systems in Binary. Wow, ty 5/5 *****

  • Right at the end you made one mistake when you said F is 16, which as you know is actually 15. Good video, but that will confuse people.

  • Truth - my head was starting to hurt by that point

  • I am an IT teacher and it is a topic I like teaching to my students. Along with Binary and Octal, it gives me a chance to watch their heads hurt too. :o)

  • You're mean!! :(

  • when i write 100 in a text and open in it a hex reader it says 100 is 313030 ?:S wtf?

  • 31 30 30 is the ascii representation of the number 100. ascii is used for text, if the value was input to a program, the program would have to convert the ascii characters to a numerical value.

  • Oh ok. Thank you

  • 100 in decimal is 64 in hexidecimal. you can verify this by opening windows calculator in

    scientific mode.

  • @MerryChristmas2You so at 7:29 he made a mistake? I thought 101 in decimal to hex is 65. do you know where the 257 came from?
