Awesome! I still have the original tape and CD which I got exclusively for this song, at the time I was only about 4 years old. It's so nice to have a face to go with those lyrics, and the music along with Ray's voice in this performance sounds as spot on as the original recording I have. Wonder if they played that, but at the end he spoke out of song and it matched. WOW no change in voice from '84-2005! AMAZING!

And as a fan of both Huey Lewis and RPJ, yes, this does rip off the progressive rhythm from "I Want a New Drug". I doubt RPJ did it maliciously. But still, he went too far into trying to capture Huey's sound.

Anyone who can't hear the similarity is trying not to. Huey may not be #1 anymore, but RPJ will only be remembered for this song.

There clearly are similarities to "I want a new drug", but i think "Ghostbusters" has enough unique elements not to be considered as copyright-infringement, but thats just my opinion. Lawyers might disagree.

Yes he did lip sync in that one, but after the performance was done, he got asked "Don't you get sick of always singing this song over and over again all those years ?" and he answered "No, I really love this song" and he started screaming out the funky bridge "If you've had a dose, Of a freaky ghost, Maybe.. you'd better call" with his incredible voice, so he's still got it!

One hit wonder my ass LOL. Ray laid it down for years with Raydio, Stevie Wonder, New Edition, etc. Granted, Ghostbusters was a commercial success, but his other music wasn't really underground, neither.
