This might not still apply, but AFAIK the Elite still uses the old chipset. I got an arcade version with the Jasper chipset and the thing doesn't even overheat, even with the fans OFF. Much more efficient design and the thing is dead quiet. Haven't had any problems with it, unlike my other Xbox which died in 2 weeks and sounded like a vacuum cleaner.

I dunno if these tips work, but I usually keep my Xbox up vertically, I believe it reduces the contact with stuff around, hence it loses heat faster. Never bought one of these coolers, cause apparently the void the warranty, yet mine was fixed 4 free and I also got 1 month LIVE

Vertically is the worst way to put it. One it blocks the big vent on the bottom that sucks in air and two it makes it so that (heat rises up) all the heat travels through the system and the hard drive., Also only the old coolers void it because of what they did but the new one (intercooler ts) doesnt do that and it works great. I bought one and it cools the xbox down like seriously 20 degrees even after like 2 hours of playing.

Well you see I put it vertically, but what it stands on is essentially not a flat surface, but this metal bars thing. I'm pretty sure the vent isn't blocked that way.

Yea i think mine was 20 or 25 dollars or so. I got it at wal mart and that was like 7 months ago so it may have dropped somewhat. The Jasper motherboard's were shipped at the end of 2008 and supposedly never get red rings. So if you are planning on getting a new 360 at walmart, look for a Jasper instead of a Falcon motherboard.
