Thanks for this lovely reminder. Oh yes it was Denny- the guitar player's "guvernor"- now replaced by Albert Lee who remembered him with great fondness when we met in Glasgow a couple of years back. I met Denny briefly as a schoolboy in Edinburgh late 50's- what a guy- was playing with Johnny Duncan then- remember the guitar solo on Last train to San Fernando? Thanks for keeping those great artists alive for us birdman
does anybody know who the guitarist would be in this line-up ?
the guitar break sounds to me like the work of the incomparable Denny Wright, who certainly worked with Lonnie later on, but I don't know if he was in the group in 1957 ...
Yes it was Denny. Denny was the first guitarist, followed by Jimmy Currie, then Les Bennetts. I played drums in the band from 68-73. I was lucky enough to a couple of gigs with Denny, but most of my time was with Les. Sadly both Les and Denny are no longer with us, God bless em!
No I'm sorry I don't where Jimmy is. You could check out the Lonnie Donegan site, there is a forum on there and lot's of knowledgeable people ready to divulge a lot of the LD history.
Thanks must go to ppl who put these on line. My goodness what a treasure.Sometime during my R.A.F. service May 1956 to 1960, we Police Dog Handlers formed a group and played mainly on camp. I remember Les Townsend, from Yorks, big Harry, and Josh who I used to sing Everley Bros with, and argued who had got the words mixed up. I know that such a show was in my home town of Darwen, Lancs, in about 1902, and have pics of a concert in our local park. , in a book about my town. Best wishes John B

This is lovely thank you very much. I also know C H very well. C H is a touch straight laced and this is a lovely contrast.

Do you know where Jimmy Currie is now, as I know an old friend of his from Scotland, who would love to get in touch.
Thanks for your contribution to the band
