  • Lovely! A national treasure. He'll always be Lucius Sejanus to me. Young Star Trek fans mustn't worry overmuch -- we all looked rather odd in those days. Nice to be reminded of Trevor Nunn's BBC days too.

  • The man is a legend

  • His hair is bigger in the past.

  • @drbrontosaurus yeah if inverse tachyon pulses in only three time periods make so much hair doing it in ten would make you look like an orangutan

  • I clicked on this video because the title said Patrick Stewart and thumbnail looked like Jeff Bridges.

  • Priceless! Thank you!

  • "Patrick, how would you describe Enobarbus?"

"Well, he just kept taalking, in one unbroken sentence, moving from topic to topic...."

  • lol Patrick Stewart is awesome! His hair looks so cool even though hes bald! lol he looks like someone off of planet of the apes or some master herbalist chinese guy hahaha.. very cool very cool :-)

  • WOW. He has totally different mannerisms. It's amazing to see the difference of him then and now.

  • Nice hair pat !

  • Patrick Stewart hasn't changed in over 30 years.

  • Is it just me, or did interviews dumb-down over the years?

  • @male20Colorado no kidding

  • Wow, Trevor Nunn looks homeless.

  • he looks somehow older than in trek

  • is this some kind of CGI on patrick here?..

  • Looks like Patrick was taking a page from Charlie Mansons style book.

  • Why are all the male captins in star trek bald? Picard was bald, Shatner is bald and Sisko is bald most of the time.

  • @leahcimrac Janeway was bald too, wasn't she?

  • @Jermybug Well, it depends whereabouts we're talking...

  • Wow. I'm playing Enobarbus and just happened to come across this searching him. I never anticipated being called back in for Enobarbus, thinking I am too young for the character. So it's....interesting.....to see Mr. Stewart played him at basically the same time of life.

The points he makes about ultimately talking about acting/feeling the text and there not being ONE way into playing Shakespeare (or anything)....all the real deal; very much so.

    Many thanks for posting, klizuck.

  • He looks older here than he does now O.o He found the fountain of youth!

  • @Rorschached he's just max level. no mystery there.

  • @ 1:24 - 2:32 kinda looks like Richard Dreyfuss

  • @peacefrog0521 No, no. More like Pete Postlethwaite.

  • that beard rivals connery's quite well

  • "What alarms ME most" is the fact that Sir Patrick Stewart has that much hair O_o

  • MAJESTIC BEARD

  • Patrick Stewart is such an amazing man. When he speaks you become inexplicably spellbound as if everything he says is like a book that must be read to it's conclusion before sleeping.

  • Moving from topic to topic quiet hypnotic

  • This was during the days he was cmding the Stargazer.

  • Watching Patrick Stewart being interviewed here gives me a much greater sense that he's playing a role than when I'm watching him play Picard.

That's the mark of a good actor. Or a crazy person.

  • OMG CUT UR HAIR NOW~

  • He literally hasn't aged a day.

  • the hair looks so fake ^^ but i guess thats just prejudice

  • 1979, he was 40 years old back then.... He hasnt aged a single god damn day... lol

  • 'Pat Stewart' looked older in 1979 than he does now. Time travel via Borg sphere confirmed.

  • One of the greatest actors I've ever seen.

  • this is staggeringly insightful commentary on acting, shakespeare, literature, life...

  • holy crap LOL!!!! I never seen him with hair.. shocker to me LOL he looks good in both ways..

  • ok, so, is Patrick Stewart young in this video or did he travel back in time. because he looks and sounds EXACTLY the same.

  • I think hes over compensated for his male pattern bolding.

  • Patrick Stewart is a god amongst men.

  • Picard looks like a hippie here!

  • Patrick Stewart looks like the most interesting man in the world.

  • @wcorsc "I don't always drink Romulan Ale...but when I do, I prefer Dos Equus."

  • jajajajajaj Este culiau no envejece más!! Me lo imagino en esa época sin barba y sin bigote con un uniforme de la Flota Estelar y es el mismo Cap. Picard!! ajajjaajaj

  • Me thinks he likes the color purple.

  • He does look better with a bald head.

  • OMG the other guy is such a douche!

  • @MrRefridgeration i am SO sorry... i voted you 'down' and i didn't mean to!!!! the other guy IS a douche. dang. i'm sorry. i don't know why this happened. forgive me, friend. i can't fix it and i don't know why. i hope you don't hold this against me-- misclick! misclick!

  • So is he actually saying "the poop was beaten gold", or does it just sound that way?

  • @19shea85 Poop refers to the Poop deck which is a part of the boat that Cleopatra was on with her throne. One of those random old words you never find out about until something like shakespeare throws it up!

  • @19shea85 it's part of a ship

  • OMG He looks like Richard Dreyfuss in 1973! :O

  • "The poop was beaten gold". I want that as my epitaph.

  • Wtf, where is patrick stewart?

  • Patrick Stewart NEVER AGES

  • Thanks for posting this. A gem.

  • Stewart is the man... in my mind he will always be Captain picard... lol even watching him act in the play made me think Captain Picard was in the holodeck showing data what shakesphere is all about

  • What a great find. Thanks for posting this.

  • 1:37

  • Jesus, he was already old in '78.

  • @LordOfTheGnus Dont say my name in vain

  • Ok as long as you don't say LordOfTheGnus in vain.

  • @JesusChrist5000

If I say "fuck jesus" with the intent to insult and offend you, and it works, then it's not in vain is it?

  • well yeah..traveling around the galaxy makes you old. Einstein said so.

  • @surgednb actually he said just the opposite. For the traveller time slows compared to those who stay on Earth. This is the only type of time travel that current physics recognizes as possible in this particular universe with all its stupid arbitrary laws damn it.

  • Nah, that' s just because his hair is grey abd ofcourse because he is bald.

I think he looks very handsome here:)

  • man, patrick is ageless, he looks just the same in the mid to late 80's as he does in the 70's.

  • little did he know he'd become one of the worlds most famous men...

  • When Patrick Stewart has that much hair it freaks me out.

  • @geffrod He was starting to go bald before he reached 20. This is obviously a hairpiece.

  • hzzn, try wikipedia and enter his name, you can see a picture from 1958 there. He doesn't look much different, though. ;)

  • You know what's amazing about this 30 year old clip? Patrick Stewart doesn't look at all that different than he does today. He simply has a few more wrinkles and that's about it. How far back do you have to go to see any difference I wonder. Did he look like this when he was in his 20s too?

  • Hard to believe Stewart once looked like Riker

  • ..Whoa. I didn't know Patrick Stewart could have that much hair.

  • Wow, I did'nt know Patrick Stewart used to be a hippy

  • Brilliant! Right, this really is Education - in how to read and appreciate Shakespeare! More please!!!

  • Thanks for posting this. I have seen photos of Patrick Stewart's work in the Royal Shakespeare Company in the70's but never thought of see a clip of him during this era.

  • thanks for this!
