This lovely song brings back sweet memories for me, as our Collegiate Chorale from Bowling Green State University sang this while we were on our 27 state, 6-week tour of our country in the US, back during the summer of 1997. We had 18 men and 30 women in our ensemble and had a glorious time. Definitely miss that group!! Bravissima in being the "Choir of the World", again!! You're the Choir of My Heart (Cor de mon coeur)!! :-)
Congratulations to this amazing Choir with 4 perfect score and a 99 out of a 100. WOW!!! to score a 499 out of 500 in a competition is awesome. TO CLOSE TO PERFECTION. University of Santo Thomas Choir from a 300+ yr old university from the Philippines. Congratulations
The entrance was extraordinary, they came on like a magnificent pride of golden lions, but instead of sinking in for the kill it was as if they resurrected all their prey with their voices. I will admit the dresses are kind of goofy, but ladies you wear them well and the moment your voices ascend you could be wearing a plastic wal*mart bag and still be beautiful.
I remember the first time I sang this....maybe 18 years ago...I love this piece. This group is nice, but like most their dynamics need to be more refined. WAY TOO MUCH SOPRANO!....
yeah.. they're actually doing great.. hindi sila nagfa.flat... dala2 ko pa nga ngaun yung tuning fork ko and i do a little checking.. its still A major. i have a piece on this. we sung this 2 years ago.
Not to sound corny, but it's amazing how music connects us everywhere in the world. WE just sung this at church last Sunday in Toronto where I sing and I was thinking I'd rather listen to it and enjoy it, and here we are, it couldn't be any better! what seamless singing... hope to sing with some of you one day in either hemisphere! :)
I would hope that anyone out there that is posting here and was a member of this group would appreciate how good they were-I have left my job, am moving and going back to get my masters in music and persue a career in music education, largely due to the inspiration I have gotten from hearing this little choir on utube!
God bless you all-we are truly one world!! I don't know who is out there, but please accept my heartfelt thanks for reawakening the singer in me and putting me on the right path!
I remember sitting in the church when they came in, just like in this concert, to perform this song. It was an incredible moment, one of the best moments of my life.
Such presence with a small choir. They're amazing. Their control is incredible. This is an incredibly hard piece to sing, and they sing it like it's easy. Only problem I have is them singing it a half-step higher than written. I like it in A flat, not so much in A.
What you're referring to here, I think, is a choral conducting "trick".
Many conductors will pitch selections a half-step higher than written as "insurance" that the choir will end up in the "as written" key at the end of the piece.
As you mention, though, this group stayed in A-major and never slipped (no pitch problems here).
A masterful rendition of a charming and delicate work by C.V. Stanford, the "bluebird" of English Romantic music. A pity the mics were too near to pick up solitary voices. Nonetheless, lines were seamlessly woven, tenderly sung, and felt deeply. Bravo, Fidel, UST Singers, you are a national treasure.

Aren't there some professionals among these (sometimes older-looking) students?
JSC1401 2 years ago
Of course, this is a University choir, and obvious auditioned so one would imagine that there would be veteran students who are indeed professional.
