These iMac G3s came out in 1999. And they are able to connect to a wireless network if you an airport card with the adapter so that you don't need a stick hanging out on the side. Or you can use the stick. And these things only had a 56K modem on them. Wireless internet on a 12 year old Mac now that is just awesome, and its not a laptop.
My bro found one and gave it to me cause he knows im a geek. He found it in the TRASH!!! I got Itunes 7, camino, and 10.3.9 on there and we're giving it to our mom for mothers day.
i beg to differ on the imac dv thing because the slowest imac dv they made was a 400mhz G3 and they said theres was a 266mhz model wich was a tray loading module
Uhm... For my stick, only 10.3 and 10.4 drivers are available, so I was lucky having Panther installed. I think it'll be hard to find a third-party WLAN device with OS 9 support.
I bought it years ago at Reichelt Elektronik (biggest electronics supplier here in Germany) for about 15 €, I think. Of course you can get it cheaper, e.g. at the big auction house with the 4 coloured characters ;-)...
I got a graphite 700 mhz summer special edition for $10.50 ($55 w/shipping tho). works like a charm, except the ethernet port is dead but I'll get around that :)
Hey, nice, I've been looking for a solution. Picked up a 400 mhz G3 on eBay for $50 shipped, right now I'm using my Intel iMac as a bridge, but I think the best solution is a stand alone bridge.
Not only is it faster then USB 1.1, there is no potential driver issues, plus I've seen them on Google shopping for about $35-50.
great vid, I have a g3 500mhz slot loading Imac with 1gb mem and 80gb hd, I have been looking for a wireless solution for the g3 instead of the aiport (what a rip off) do you know if all usb wifi cards are compatible with the g3 imac? and did you have to install drivers? can I purchase any kind?
If you wanna use USB wifi on a Mac, you ALWAYS have to install additional drivers. Fortunately, there are OS X drivers available for the card I've already owned (it's a ZyDas ZD1211B). There aren't Mac drivers for any card, so please use Google before you buy a USB wifi device!
Wow Alot has changed since Beverly Hills Cop 3!

thats a cool song what is it called?
Ab1045 3 years ago
reply to Ab1045 - The song is called Axel F
topsyandpip56 3 years ago
Nope. Axel F is just a cheap remake. It's the original soundtrack of "Beverly Hills Cops" composed by Harold Faltermeyer (great German guy ;-)).

I just noticed that the original song IS called Axel F. , sorry...

does run panther fast on your g3?
omit94 4 years ago
Relative to my PC: Yes.
Relative to newer Macs: No.
Well, it's running quite well, but if you open up more than 5 apps at the same time, it gets sticky...

allright thanks!
