  • Anything James Had or Was, Is a 1000 Times better Than We have Today. Amen.

  • dude nice eyebrows

  • I don't buy the idea that Cagney did "Yankee Doodle Dandy" to separate himself from Communism and give himself a patriotic aura. Cohan himself suggested Cagney for the part, and Cagney loved the part. In 1942, the US was allied with the Soviet Union. It wasn't til around 1950 that being associated with communists was bad for your movie career. In 1942, Cagney had no way of knowing what would happen in 1950.

  • @1970Tswan Amen 1970Tswan. 100% in agreement with you. We really Need Him {{Today}}________ Both He & Mr. George M. jmho

  • At the top of the list of my all time favorite movies....Cohan and Cagney...unbeatable!! Thank you!!

  • Are you out of your mind-DeNiro-Pesce and Nicholson could not hold up Cagney's pants!!! One and only-never be another like Cagney!!!!!

  • A true American classic. A masterpiece. As a kid, it was aired every day for a week and I caught it every time! Sadly, they don't make films like this anymore. It will live forever!

  • This is absolutely a wonderful, wonderful video. I think so very highly of James Cagney. I love his acting, I love his dancing, I love his voice & at a young age of two I saw this film & started learning the lyric's to the song & at three I was dancing along right with him that's how much he inspired me. I knew all the verses of Yankee Doodle Dandy and still do!

  • He s the Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Movie I've seen it several times and it does make you proud to be an American

  • @Boomer1947

i am an Englishman and have seen this film several times and the way it is put over makes you feel that you dont have to be an American to feel proud of this film

  • James Cagney was one of the greatest and most versatile actors of all time.

No one was more perfect in every way to portray George M. Cohan.

  • @TheGoodCrop

Have you seen him in "The Strawberry Blonde"? Versatile he was...for sure! Love him forever!

  • Regarding the questioning of Cagney's politics, from what I researched, Cagney was a liberal Democrat when this movie was made.

There had been some false rumors of him having Communist sympathies.

Over the years, he moved to the right and described himself as an arch-conservative toward the end of his life.

  • James Wong Howe is my great uncle!

  • Why they did that I will never know.
