I'm confused. There is some debate as to WHO sang the opening version of this song in The Searchers. Some maintain it was Tex Ridder...but this is clearly not the same voice we hear in the movie. Interestingly, Ken Curts, the fellow who plays Charlie (and later Festus in Gunsmoke) sang with the group Sons of the Pioneers and he is said to be the singer. Anybody know for sure? P.S. John Ford was also Ken Curtis's father-in-law.
Tex sure could sing a song, and his son John was such a fine actor too.
