The interesting thing about the discussion of political correctness around the use of a single word (which still has a different meaning overseas) is that there is really nothing politically correct about the entire poem. Guy Fawkes existed in a time of a great deal of political and religious strife, and the celebrations of his capture and execution often took on an anti-catholic tone, complete with burning the Pope in effigy. Now, of course, it's just a good excuse to light things on fire.

for those wondering its a FAGGOT of sticks. F-A-G-G-O-T. I really don't see how that can offend anyone. If I use the word pussy cat, it means kitten. if i call someone a pussy, that would be offensive. I believe you should've used the word faggot in this poem because its used in a way which is not offensive to anyone. Should they censor the term 'gay' in an od 70's tv show? I think not. It's a perfectly good word Dear. It is slang for a cigarette. It is also used in my families home town in PA to refer to a type of sausage patty. It may have a different meaning *now* but that doesn't make it a 'bad' word.

V for Vendetta was pretty cool, i've seen it a bunch of times but i never really knew the meaning behind alot of the things "V" said in the movie, mainly the poem. So thanks alot for clearing that up for me! Oh yea, GREAT VIDEO! :)

Given that you gave the explanation of the original meaning of "the word", I think it would have been better to just go ahead and use it. If people can't handle it's use in the context of it's original meaning then THEY are the one's with the problem. I understand not wanting to offend people but I effing HATE how Political Correctness has people changing stuff that ought not to be changed just because others are so overly sensitive that it's plain stupid!

There are many reasons as to why I absolutely refuse to utilize this word in my life. 1.) most important: I have friends & family who have been HURT by this word, so I am particularly sensitive to it. 2.) Thus, I would rather not have footage of myself ever saying it. 3.) While I agree that things should not be changed for pol.cor.ness, the fact still remains that I would rather not hurt anyone in the least. It's a sacrifice I will take for people I love.

On the other hand, you are sticking with a standard you believe in for reasons that are compelling to you rather than simply being one of the sheeple of this world who act out of the need to imitate everybody else rather than actually *thinking* and that's worth respecting
