yea i went to church camp last year and we talked alot about believing and if yuo dont what will happen. but really like you said its balckmail. because we have free will but if we dont believe we will burn in hell? ok
i disagree actually, the free will is meaningful because it has consequences, it would be meaningless if free will offered little to no consequences, but one important part of the Christian philosophy you are forgetting is that apparently, we're all evil, and god will save us, and purgatory is what happens to everybody who does not submit themselves to gods power... etc etc
rubber dickhammer, lol. Anyway, along the lines of your point, I find it amusing that a god with infinite power, would get upset because one guy here and there didn't believe in him. As a matter of fact, this pisses him off so much, he's gonna teach you a lesson, and send you to eternal damnation! With a whole universe to preside over, why would a god really give a shit that some random dumb humans didn't believe in him. Sounds a little egotistical to me. And some insecurity issues at hand.
I was going to post something based on the binary nature of the choice offered by religion but as I wrote it I realised that another of " God's" offers is a hollow gesture. The gift of eternal life to those that accept Jesus. All of us get it either way, we just get a choice of weather we spend it in eternal bliss or torment. Cheers dude. It's like someone wrapping up something you own and giving it to you as a birthday present. Only with more burning if you don't like him.
I thought about it, I want to respond with an example: a man is shot and bleeding to death, you have the "free will" to help the man, but if you don't he'll die. As the bible simply says : the person that doesn't chose for me isn't going to be saved. as a consequence you'll go to hell. God isn't forcing you to go to hell(he wants to save you) but if you don't chose(just like not helping the man) it's a sad consequence.
You give an interesting view but from the wrong side i personally think.
But as Blunty said it is NOT free will if your basically being forced to do something and you don't have a proper choice. It's not choice if you suffer a terrible consequence by not choosing believe in it.
I give you the nod of approval blunty, agree completely with your video. One argument that I have heard before that paints God in a strange light is in regards to fossils. There are those who claim God placed these fossils on earth as a test of our faith. So basically God is a prankster...and now also a blackmailer.
"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones...Marcus Aurelius"
Lol.. I Was Looking Through All The Comment's Like. Holy Crap So All The Educated people On Youtube Converge Here?!.. Finally A Have..Oh Wait He's Just Locked The Comment's...Nevermind. But I Totally Agree, There Are So Many More Things Apart from Freewill That Just Make It Impossible To Believe in God. For Instance Did You Know That If A War Isnt Directly Caused By Relegion It Involves Some Sort Of Relegion Related Argument... EVERY War. Show's How Much God Loves Us. ;)..If He Is Real Of Course
Wow that is so true i never thought of it that way. Me personaly beleave in god cuz i would rather beleave in him and there not be a god. Than not beleave in him and there is a god. So watever your religion idk. But that is so true if god gave us free will why would he punish us for eploiting our ''free will''
i always thought the same thing. thats why i don't believe in half the crap i hear in church. i mean these guys are always talking about saint 'X' did this and saint 'Y' did this using miricales... ya right! most likely these guys were rich motherfuckers who gave the church lots of gold to become saints. i mean no one can prove otherwise.
As Christians, we believe that loving God is to Love the people around you, and to have faith that good will come after any hard trials in life. Not loving him, on the other hand, is being a douchebag to people. And as humans, we're aware that we are aware, and we can choose to help, or we can choose to be pillocks. Technically, if you don't believe in God, then you wouldn't care would you? You wouldn't believe in an afterlife with Hell and whatnot, right?
Giovani Pico della Mirandola (No idea how you pronounce that) made an interesting point about this, basically it boils down to the idea that man is by nature miraculous because of our free will and intellectual abilities, his view of christianity was one which didn't really allow for sin as a result and saw human beings as in control of our own ultimate fate.
Unfortunately he said this in the 15th century and it did not end well for him.
I don't know if you're atheist or not but I believe in god...
and you know what? I totally agree with you on this
actually I choose not to get tied up in religon just because I think religon shows just how stupid people can be,I mean how many religon's over ONE god!?
I choose to believe in him but not to follow any specific religon, just believe in him and be a good person
Life, when you reach adulthood is all about free will and consequences. We all have free will in life, forget religion for one minute, I have the freedom if I wish to go out today and murder someone, but if I do I will spend the rest of my life in prison, this is where the consequences comes into it. We are all responsible for our actions, both physically and spiritually. You will reap what you sow. It's up to you.
oh i just love the religeous people who try and make the man feel bad. it's funny cus they're sposed to love all people or somethin like that. oh well.
This guy right here, it pointing out an obvious fact, and a contradiction, just one of many in religeon. And he did it extremely well, too. I tried reading the bible once. i got so frustrated with the rediculous amount of contradictions that i put the book down.
but to this video, i applaud thee. Extremely good work, my friend.
"Verily God changeth not the condition of a people until they themselves change their own condition (13:11)."
Verily thou (O Muhammad) hast no concern with those who have divided their religion and became sects. Their affair is only with God Who will inform them of what they did. (6:159)
The above is from the QURAN. You have free will, and God is patient and kind, do as you will but at the end why would God want to know those who don't want to know him?
Well despite that - God still asks non believers to enjoy THIS life - especially since this is the only life they think they have, so in the mean time God doesn't say curse you here and there - if you dont want anything to do with God and to have amazing fun, then your physical body will be pleased (which God have you) - yet your spirit/soul will suffer for this imbalance.
So your physical body has free will and no consequences... yet your spirit body still suffers? Both are undoubtedly parts of you that make a whole so no matter how you spin it at the end of the day you are still punished for not believing in god. ergo you don't really have a choice in not believing in god. Unless you don't mind eternal damnation...
God is LOVE. But He is also HOLY and RIGHTEOUS. His Divine attributes demand JUSTICE. He must judge SIN. If he did not He would not be who he says He is. But He desires that none should perish. Thats why Jesus died on the cross. He loves us and gives people the choice, and allow them to suffer the consequences, be it life or death.
This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life (Deuteronomy 30 :15)
In Essence what blunty is saying is true. As some understand it. But as Christians we Know God is good. We have tasted His goodness and love. But...
With our limited understanding of things we can throw into the mix about 2% of the bigger picture. With that 2% of limited knowledge we judge everything... This is a mistake.
Paul says everything is permissable but not everything is beneficial.
Blunty makes a simple obvious point. But i think the conclusion is made without all the facts.
I dont believe that God has said that we'll go to hell if we dont follow him, I'm pretty sure he said that the judgement is about how good and wholesome we have been in our lives. Some people just seem to take it the wrong way. I mean, it sounds stupid, be nice and you'll go to heaven, but I think if you do something bad you would feel remorse or guilt afterwards and you'd be forgiven. Thats just my understanding and my belief as a Christian.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though. :3
but when it comes to free will, my understanding(i could be wrong) is that god loves us so much to respect the fact that we don't believe him, the way i put it doesn't help my argument, but its freedom between the boundaries that jesus not that old testament jewish bullshit sets us, but also when you become a christian, the point is that your going to want to serve and obey god, so essentially we know god has a good point. like sleeping around, he told us not too because we get STD's good point.
you have an incredibly good point, im a christian... and i swear, i do all sorts of stuff, but i do not judge other people, when it comes to asshole christians(believe me, i;ve met them and i hate them...)i try not to say anything out of line, i'm polite and i tell them "dude, you really should take a look at where your at with god and change" i've had to do that myself many times when it comes to god, the point is, you need to realize that some christians are hypocrites and others aren't...
Today's born again christians are hypocrites! They don't come close to practicing what they preach! most all of them haven't even read the entire bible!
now my problem with this whole thing is .... even if i live a peaceful existence loving my neighbor giving money to charity helping the poor and just be a regular nice person to everyone i come in contact with ... But not go to church and love jesus ... i will still burn in hell for all eternity now thats just mean
blunty ur on the wrong here lets say god does exist and he has given us freewill ..... should he not punish the ones who choose to do wrong ... the law says dont go over 40k/h arnd schools ... but we have the freewill to speed if we wished to ... so if we do speed ... should we be punished the answer is yes freedom or freewill is good when its given to us by the authority(god) but some people will misuse it so they deserve punishment .
You, like so many here are trying to compare a man made legal system designed to keep us safe cooperative (for the most part) directly with what is supposedly the very nature of our existance... are you an idiot, can you really not see the difference and the utter stupidity of trying to compare the two?
ok maybe bad example but u missed the point i was trying to make ... god gave us freewill we choose wat to do and who to love ... now lets say we choose to do the wrong thing watever it was shouldnt there be consequences shouldnt he punish us for doing the wrong thing or wat he just gave us freewill and we do watever we want
In essence you are indeed agreeing with me... but what you're failing to understand here is that with the threat of consequences a choice cannot truly be considered free, to go back to your own flawed metaphor, we are not "free" to break the law, we CAN do it, but we are not considered to be freely ALLOWED to do so. Please tell me you comprehend because I can't dumb this down any more. the POINT here is that "god given free will" is an oxymoron that cannot be reconciled.
oh now i understand what ur saying u really did dumb it down for me so basically wat ur sain is god hasnt given us any real freewill and they preach and say that god has given us freewill so there contradicting themselves and thats christianity contradicting itself even though u were insulting ... thanks allot dude
Just to clarify though, I don't like putting christianity under the title "a religion". The reason is that the word religion brings with it an idea that it's JUST a set of rules and regulations or practices. FIRST and foremost, christianity is about a RELATIONSHIP with God. This relationship is what causes christians to follow and serve God. This is a misconception and obstacle for people who can't make sense of christianity... Which you openly admitted.
the guy makes a good point and u flame him? fucking troll. i love how instead of coming to their own opinion and beliefs, people will choose to slander other people's beliefs. and more often than not it's the atheists that do it more than the christians. however i guess their comments are completely meaningless
I appologise on behalf of any of my christian brothers or sisters you say have called you names or judged you. I don't believe that an entire religion, be it Christian, Buddist, Hindu etc. can be judged purely on it's followers however as the bible explains that "there is no one righteous, not even one". I would encourage you to go to the bible itself and make a judgement according to it rather than a follower. You can also see the life on earth of God himself when Jesus walked the earth.
So, the point I'm getting to is that it's not about US. LIFE is not about US. God is outwardly focussed and he created us in His image to be outwardly focussed too. God loves us lots. At the same time He is God and can do whatever He likes. That's why HE'S God and WE'RE not. It was God's FREE WILL to come to our tiniest speck of what we call earth. It was God's FREE WILL to die for us rather than blowing us all to smitherines. It's God's FREE WILL that He loves us and desires that we love Him!
60% of the people below me are complete and utter idiots. Use critical thinking, the scientific method. Stop the bullshit. You're embaressing humanity. Just as the use of crude tools are looked down upon in ancient times, people are going to remember when we actually believed in religion. Who knows, an alien race could be observing us and see our churches and go..."No, they're not ready to join the galactic council, they're still religious."
You used the word "meaningless" quite a few times in your video. From the bible Solomon draws the conclusion at the beginning of the book Ecclesiasties that "Everything is meaningless". Solomon gained everything a man could set out to aquire in his lifetime: Wealth, fame, wisdom, women, understanding, honour. He came to the conclusion that everything is meaningless without God. Why is this?? It's the way we've been designed. We were designed to worship and serve God and to serve each other.
Christians = lol. Me praying to a magical rainbow farting lazer shooting unicorn that resides in my head makes more sense. At least I realise he's fictional.
What's not to get? God gave us free will. Do what you like. That's why some people go to Hell and some go to Heaven. Choosing not to be 'blackmailed' is making a free wilful decision. Its not blackmail, but rather an obligation. It's not hard to understand.
Ima propose my religion to you. Pray to me and I'll spare your life or you can continue believing in your book of fairy tales but I'll blast you and your family with a shotgun. You pray to me to save yourself and your family, a free willful decision according to your logic right? but then you beleive in god so logic isn't realy your fortay innit?
hey blunyt, big fan right here... but not of this vid.
while it is ur opinion, i'm not going to say ur wrong, just point out a flaw. while you say it is a token gesture and meaningless it is not. the free will that we are given is not to love and worship him, but to believe in him at all. the free will god gave us was the choice of our own beliefs hence why thousands of religions have popped up over time. anyways keep up the vids, hopefully i don't get flamed by fundamentalists 4 this lol.
then where is the freewill of children who were never exposed to God, raised in some village with their beliefs thrust upon them? say the kid died due to malnutrition, technically they burn in hell for eternity for not believing in god right? Tell me, where was their free will there? Or you just gonna use the infallible god/ignorant logic and say it was Gods will.
no i won't say that mate. all i'll say is that the free will of beliefs does not justify the holding of some people that if they don't believe in god, they're going to BURN IN HELL!!!!
ok here's wat i believe. the bible says we were made in his image right? therefore our conciencousness of humanity is based from god. so if u were god, would u cast that poor soul to the never ending sulfur pits of hell? or would ur concience win over. god isn't some heartless bastard as ur making out mate.
um, how do you know people will burn in hell? Has anyone ever been there and come back to tell you? And please, pleeease don't say "It is written" or "The bible says.." because that is not evidence, not hard scientific examinable evidence - it is a book of fairy tales written by MORTAL MEN more than a thousand of years ago. It even says the earth is flat! (Isaiah 11:12)
ha ha the truth is that i don't know. again it comes down to faith and whether u believe or not. i'm a proud christian however there are some passages of the bible that i believe cannot be taken literally. and yes it was writtn by mortal men, do you know any other kind? :P for example the bible says that one million people marched behind moses...... i mean ffs. thats a lot of ppl lol. it's a literary exageration in parts. people just need to use their common sense and judgement to decide on it.
Okay blunty. You have mad that decision. God gave us free will so we can choose to love him and whether you accept that r not is your choose. Free will adds another dimension to life otherwise you do would be under his control. You should be praising him that he loves you so much that he is letting you and gave you life!! He will still forgive for you have not met God yet, God is much more than you think. Oh and if you disobey God like the devil did you will join the devil and ways... have fun.
ultimately there IS NO religion. its that easy and simple. god does exist and whether you CHOOSE to have a relationship with him you just follow the law thats from the bible. i just hate fundlemental christians that put their dicks on revelations and scream out when god?? fuken when??? is the end of the world gonna happen so that i may go out and spread the word. you know??? oh and FREE WILL was given to us because god wants us to choose what to belive and want cause we have free will
you have no idea how right he is, christians say "come on guys could you please worship god" but they mean "if you don't worship YOU ARE DAMNED FOR ETERNITY MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!"
....like a lot of christians you are confusing this issue, for instance there is no "burning hell" mentioned in the Bible and the burning lake of sulphur is a vision in a dream, its not real and never will be, its just a representation like the giant statue with the feet of clay, theres no actual statue.
Ok well I thought about what you said and slowly it made more sense (I am a christian, Stop turning me against my beliefs!! XD) and so i decided to ask the person that i think could give me a decent answer, my english and devotions teacher. He said that technically speaking nobody has "ultimate free will" and that nobody can do whatever the hell they want. There are limitations to our "free will" And that if we wanna do what ever the hell we want we can.....In hell!? Personally i thought that..
what i don't understand is why our calendars are based off of Jesus' death...specifically because that wasn't the start of time so we should be some where in the 13 billion range for our year number....btw i just figured out why we don't use BC and AD anymore
I like to counter people like you but first i want to know what you are really refering to in this vid so i can give you a better response are you just questioning our free will our gods existence all together?
Ok, your understanding of the Christian faith is wrong. Winding up in Heaven has nothing to do with what we do. If we all do the right things, and say the right things, and go to church every week, that doesn't get us into Heaven. The only thing that gets us into Heaven is faith that Jesus died to pay for our sins. You obviously don't believe the same, and I'm not judging you, I'm simply saying that the belief that the good things we do gets us into Heaven is not what is taught in the Bible.
everyone showld have there opinione on everything. that dosent meen yo should need to rage about it. you new what you were gonna get the name make it blatently obviouse
I'm Catholic and I don't believe that nonbelievers go to hell-St. Thomas Aquinas said nonbelief was not a sin because you have to believe in G-d and have a relationship with Him to know that you have sinned against Him.
I'm not sure any system on Earth works without natural or artificial consequences in store for making the "wrong" choice. If you don't follow the laws of the your nation, set down by some higher power, you suffer too. What's the difference?
There you have it. You just admitted that free will is indeed not bullshit. Your meaning of the "purpose" of free will is inaccurate. Free will is the power of making our own unconstrained choices. Nothing else.
While it may not sound like a great trade off, free will does still indeed exist none the less, and you display it in this here video.
Hey Blunty. I love you man. I love your rants... truely good stuff. I call myself a Christian (heck... I'm currently sitting in my office... in a church... where I work) and I totally understand where you're coming from. What you have to understand though, is that our understanding of what Heaven and Hell are has been seriously tainted by centuries of "religious" teaching. It's not a "or else" clause. Even the believers will be judged
I think you should understand both of those concepts to their entirety before you say things like that...I'm not going to explain them myself because it doesn't matter what I say, I'm not going to change your mind.
In the UK,USA and in you homeland their is freedoms that are give and freedoms that are not."ie you can kill rob or rape"no one can say that it is imposable.Even though these thing are possible you will be punished.Same thing you have that choice. If I was to beat, rob, rape,or kill it would be on my head.Mayhaps your just tring your hand at being a troll.
hmm the color in this video looks different.......and i agree fully blunty but theres probably gunna be a bunch of comments now argueing over religion and some will say "god still loves you" lol
For the love of God (lulz), don't just be another voice in the crowd. Read the literature, formulate a coherent and rational opinion based on fact, and THEN add to the flame wars.
I'd be willing to bet that not many of the "DUDE UR SOOOO RIGHT" people haven't even read the Christian catechism or other literature, but rather formulate their opinions on what they see on TV or read in the newspapers, which often singularly depict the christian fundamentalists as the crazies they are.
Hell is not created as a punishment as such. Hell is simply a place where god is not, and yes this means there is no hope or happyness. Hell is a place of isolation, so on. We can choose to follow God and he will forgive us and let us enter a place of perfection (heaven).
If we choose not to folow him we turn away from him and choose not to know him. This means we reject his love and forgivness and essentually send ourselves to hell.
If you are going to criticize a religion, have the common courtesy of reading the literature. Christianity (talking about the non-fundamentalists) explicitly states that no one act will send you to hell. In fact, the "hell" most of you refer to isn't even accepted by most christians. the accepted interpretation is that of eternal alone-ness. if you spend your life loving yourself above everyone else, you get that for eternity --> hell. if you love everyone, you get that for eternity --> heaven.
The 1st part is somewhat true. The 2nd part about "keep loving God or go to hell" is meah. That concept depends on the denomination. Certain denominations believe that, while others do not. Plus you kinda generalized it, & it's more complicated than that.
As for the idea of a universe without some sort of divine intervention, it doesn't seem likely. After all, nothing cannot create something (hydrogen comes from something), & since divinity can be beyond time...well...you catch my drift.
Who do you think you are telling him he shouldn't speak his mind on an open forum? Why should he be like every other mindless YouTube drone who cares more about how many subs they have then about expressing their honest feelings? You mention freedom of speech yet you seem so eager for Blunty to stifle his freedom of expression for what? for the sake of subscriber retention? Blunty is better then that!
Well, if you REALLY think about it... if there is a god, and let's say he did give us free will and what not, then, well, he probably did, but since it was not god himself who wrote the "bible" and all of it's magical laws and such, but mere people who deeply believe in him and wanted people to follow god no matter what, then in reality, maybe god does promote free will, but since what we base our knowledge of god off of is a man made object, it's mostly likely extremely inaccurate.
Ah so you believe that not believing in god is akin to "death"?
It's a softer version of "BELIEVE OR DIE!"
but it's still a form of argumentum ad bacculum
No I don't! Don't put words in my mouth. Surely you know death or alienation will happen as a punishment in a society or community. And the whole believe or die DID HAPPEN
Ava
know you're history since that shit existed in the past as it does now.
it's not a softer version either. What I wrote is completley different!
"no according to what i wrote you were contradicting yourself. the bible doesn't tell you what to do, it tells you to worship and follow these rules. that is telling you what to do. and as far as im concerned its not blackmail, its being an ass"
Religion is useless, if I'm alive, I'll focus myself on my problems, not on beliefs of a supposed "God". After I die and go to Heaven or Hell or whatever, I'll worry about them...
If there's nothing on the other side... Well, I'll have nothing to worry about, since I'll not even exist anyway :P
Atheist in general don't accept any notion of "super natural" without any supporting evidence.
You are perfectly fine to believe that a deity set it all in motion, the trouble comes when you claim publicly that
"there's this unknown entity that cannot be proven to exist, and all the evidence we have, doesn't point to anything like that, but he set it all in motion, and belief is good"
I think that is an appeal to ignorance, or an appeal to emotion.
no atheists/the scientific community say: in the beginning there was hydrogen and (some other gas from space time) came together in a mass cuz of the gravity and then explode because the atoms where smashing into each other at high speeds exploding etc etc etc, i really cant explain it all in like 500 characters noir im a rocket scientist hope that helps abit
I disagree. I think about free will like this. God gave us free will to make right or wrong choices in life. Just like I do for my own children. So, a person has the free will to go out and murder someone. Ok, but when he faces his father in heaven he'll have to answer whethre it was a right or wrong choice. And hence be judged. Which also pertains to the freedom to worship god. Will god send you to hell for choosing not to worship, probably not, but there will be consequences to all choices.
Being of christian faith, i dislike the extremist "you're all burning in hell" christians. But i also dislike the prick atheists who try to force all other people to be atheist. Because what is more bull-headed, to believe in something that cannot be 100% proven false or true. Or to disprove something that cannot be proven 100% false or true? i think it is the one who proves false what cannot be proven true or false.
ps: i am tired of these extreme christians making the normal ones look bad!!
Ia gree with you man. Atheists are as full of shit as fundamentalists. There could be some deity who just created a big bang and said "Good luck, call me if you need something."
Believing in God is someones choice. If they are trying to pressure their beliefs on someone then fuck them. The right thing to do is to just stay out of other peoples business. Stating an opinion is perfectly fine.
I am not that religious although I got to say one thing. "here's some free will, if you love me cool if you don't what ever" no let's be honest it's more like "here's some free will, if you love me were cool but if you don't..... fuck you ya jerk." Really not saying I disagree with anything but wouldn't you give the finger to someone ya just gave a favor too.
Instead of calling god a hypocrite why don't try to find an answer. you could read the bible a little more, ask another Christian (there's millions of us), or pray for an answer.
If hes looking for a logical answer none of those options would work. That clusterfuck of ideas and beliefs called the Bible works for understanding the basics of Christianity, not explaining the loop holes in the idea of there being a supernatural being in the sky.
Lust like "OMG look at her tits, I hope her husband doesn't mind. I would sooo love to fuck her and squeeze her tits." In the olden times women in the US would wear veils so that people would not be tempted like that... Not anymore though :P.
religions are used to enslave. but god exists and yes, we have free will. That's why god don't interfer. We all are its creation and it created us to be what it is. That's why we are what we are.
When you start to understand the science behind conscioussness you understand what god really is, and that we are created.
Also, the religions mislead. The real god is uncondtional love. The fake gods are conditional love.
Free choice as presented by Christianity isn't the problem. Choosing to be, for instance a "villain" vs a "hero" and having that choice result in God separating himself from you and all things like you if not outright destroying you is only bad if you want to be a villan. Such a choice is indeed meaningful because to choose to embrace all things good (love, joy, kindness, life) is always better than purposely being evil(hate, sorrow, cruelty, death). And we all long for Heroes to crush villians.
Gah, don't bring religion here. Religion, by definition, cannot be reasoned with as logic has no place in faith. Faith being, by definition, a strong belief that is unsupported by any evidence whatsoever.
P.S. I agree with you. Refreshing to see intelligent people on the internet.
yea i went to church camp last year and we talked alot about believing and if yuo dont what will happen. but really like you said its balckmail. because we have free will but if we dont believe we will burn in hell? ok

Way to hit the nail on the head, Blunty.
Don't let those Christians that think god is nothing but good pull ya down.
And I repsect those who do believe in christianity that don't take the time to start a flame war with Blunty and keeping an open mind.

So basically God is a prankster...and now also a blackmailer.

i always thought the same thing. thats why i don't believe in half the crap i hear in church. i mean these guys are always talking about saint 'X' did this and saint 'Y' did this using miricales... ya right! most likely these guys were rich motherfuckers who gave the church lots of gold to become saints. i mean no one can prove otherwise.

Hmm. Fair point, but nothing new.

You have free will, and God is patient and kind, do as you will but at the end why would God want to know those who don't want to know him?
ramio1983 2 years ago
thats the same as saying "why wouldn't God punish those who don't believe in him"
End of the day there's still strings attached in not choosing to follow God.
dikwad123 2 years ago
Well despite that - God still asks non believers to enjoy THIS life - especially since this is the only life they think they have, so in the mean time God doesn't say curse you here and there - if you dont want anything to do with God and to have amazing fun, then your physical body will be pleased (which God have you) - yet your spirit/soul will suffer for this imbalance.
ramio1983 2 years ago
So your physical body has free will and no consequences... yet your spirit body still suffers? Both are undoubtedly parts of you that make a whole so no matter how you spin it at the end of the day you are still punished for not believing in god. ergo you don't really have a choice in not believing in god. Unless you don't mind eternal damnation...
dikwad123 2 years ago
God is LOVE. But He is also HOLY and RIGHTEOUS. His Divine attributes demand JUSTICE. He must judge SIN. If he did not He would not be who he says He is. But He desires that none should perish. Thats why Jesus died on the cross. He loves us and gives people the choice, and allow them to suffer the consequences, be it life or death.

LaMOi1 2 years ago
I dont believe that God has said that we'll go to hell if we dont follow him, I'm pretty sure he said that the judgement is about how good and wholesome we have been in our lives. Some people just seem to take it the wrong way. I mean, it sounds stupid, be nice and you'll go to heaven, but I think if you do something bad you would feel remorse or guilt afterwards and you'd be forgiven. Thats just my understanding and my belief as a Christian.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though. :3

samyb1234 2 years ago
but when it comes to free will, my understanding(i could be wrong) is that god loves us so much to respect the fact that we don't believe him, the way i put it doesn't help my argument, but its freedom between the boundaries that jesus not that old testament jewish bullshit sets us, but also when you become a christian, the point is that your going to want to serve and obey god, so essentially we know god has a good point. like sleeping around, he told us not too because we get STD's good point.
goFroggY2 2 years ago
you have an incredibly good point, im a christian... and i swear, i do all sorts of stuff, but i do not judge other people, when it comes to asshole christians(believe me, i;ve met them and i hate them...)i try not to say anything out of line, i'm polite and i tell them "dude, you really should take a look at where your at with god and change" i've had to do that myself many times when it comes to god, the point is, you need to realize that some christians are hypocrites and others aren't...

blunty ur on the wrong here lets say god does exist and he has given us freewill ..... should he not punish the ones who choose to do wrong ... the law says dont go over 40k/h arnd schools ... but we have the freewill to speed if we wished to ... so if we do speed ... should we be punished the answer is yes freedom or freewill is good when its given to us by the authority(god) but some people will misuse it so they deserve punishment .
someguy198949 2 years ago
You, like so many here are trying to compare a man made legal system designed to keep us safe cooperative (for the most part) directly with what is supposedly the very nature of our existance... are you an idiot, can you really not see the difference and the utter stupidity of trying to compare the two?
Blunty3000 2 years ago
ok maybe bad example but u missed the point i was trying to make ... god gave us freewill we choose wat to do and who to love ... now lets say we choose to do the wrong thing watever it was shouldnt there be consequences shouldnt he punish us for doing the wrong thing or wat he just gave us freewill and we do watever we want
someguy198949 2 years ago
In essence you are indeed agreeing with me... but what you're failing to understand here is that with the threat of consequences a choice cannot truly be considered free, to go back to your own flawed metaphor, we are not "free" to break the law, we CAN do it, but we are not considered to be freely ALLOWED to do so. Please tell me you comprehend because I can't dumb this down any more. the POINT here is that "god given free will" is an oxymoron that cannot be reconciled.
Blunty3000 2 years ago
oh now i understand what ur saying u really did dumb it down for me so basically wat ur sain is god hasnt given us any real freewill and they preach and say that god has given us freewill so there contradicting themselves and thats christianity contradicting itself even though u were insulting ... thanks allot dude

So your saying murderers and really wickid people who torture others and love doing evil

I appologise on behalf of any of my christian brothers or sisters you say have called you names or judged you. It's God's FREE WILL that He loves us and desires that we love Him!
sdcno123 2 years ago
60% of the people below me are complete and utter idiots. Use critical thinking, the scientific method. Stop the bullshit. You're embaressing humanity. Just as the use of crude tools are looked down upon in ancient times, people are going to remember when we actually believed in religion.

What's not to get? God gave us free will. Do what you like. That's why some people go to Hell and some go to Heaven. Choosing not to be 'blackmailed' is making a free wilful decision. Its not blackmail, but rather an obligation. It's not hard to understand.

hey blunyt, big fan right here... but not of this vid.
while it is ur opinion, i'm not going to say ur wrong, just point out a flaw. while you say it is a token gesture and meaningless it is not. the free will that we are given is not to love and worship him, but to believe in him at all. the free will god gave us was the choice of our own beliefs hence why thousands of religions have popped up over time. anyways keep up the vids, hopefully i don't get flamed by fundamentalists 4 this lol.
StevoImmortal 2 years ago
then where is the freewill of children who were never exposed to God, raised in some village with their beliefs thrust upon them? say the kid died due to malnutrition, technically they burn in hell for eternity for not believing in god right? Tell me, where was their free will there? Or you just gonna use the infallible god/ignorant logic and say it was Gods will.
ti3nt 2 years ago
no i won't say that mate. all i'll say is that the free will of beliefs does not justify the holding of some people that if they don't believe in god, they're going to BURN IN HELL!!!!
ok here's wat i believe. the bible says we were made in his image right? therefore our conciencousness of humanity is based from god. so if u were god, would u cast that poor soul to the never ending sulfur pits of hell? or would ur concience win over. god isn't some heartless bastard as ur making out mate.
StevoImmortal 2 years ago
um, how do you know people will burn in hell? Has anyone ever been there and come back to tell you? And please, pleeease don't say "It is written" or "The bible says.." because that is not evidence, not hard scientific examinable evidence - it is a book of fairy tales written by MORTAL MEN more than a thousand of years ago. It even says the earth is flat! (Isaiah 11:12)
jpmahone 2 years ago
ha ha the truth is that i don't know. again it comes down to faith and whether u believe or not. i'm a proud christian however there are some passages of the bible that i believe cannot be taken literally. and yes it was writtn by mortal men, do you know any other kind? :P for example the bible says that one million people marched behind moses...... i mean ffs. thats a lot of ppl lol. it's a literary exageration in parts. people just need to use their common sense and judgement to decide on it.

Okay blunty. You have mad that decision. God gave us free will so we can choose to love him and whether you accept that r not is your choose. Free will adds another dimension to life otherwise you do would be under his control. You should be praising him that he loves you so much that he is letting you and gave you life!! Ok well I thought about what you said and slowly it made more sense (I am a christian, Stop turning me against my beliefs!!

1:30. "I gave you free will."

This is my understanding anyway.
haydentkd 2 years ago
If you are going to criticize a religion, have the common courtesy of reading the literature. Christianity (talking about the non-fundamentalists) explicitly states that no one act will send you to hell. In fact, the "hell" most of you refer to isn't even accepted by most christians. the accepted interpretation is that of eternal alone-ness. if you spend your life loving yourself above everyone else, you get that for eternity --> hell. if you love everyone, you get that for eternity --> heaven.
FallenWarrior7 2 years ago
The 1st part is somewhat true. The 2nd part about "keep loving God or go to hell" is meah. That concept depends on the denomination. Certain denominations believe that, while others do not. Plus you kinda generalized it, & it's more complicated than that.
As for the idea of a universe without some sort of divine intervention, it doesn't seem likely. After all, nothing cannot create something (hydrogen comes from something), & since divinity can be beyond time...well...you catch my drift.

"no according to what i wrote you were contradicting yourself. the bible doesn't tell you what to do, it tells you to worship and follow these rules. that is telling you what to do. and as far as im concerned its not blackmail, its being an ass"
oh it's not black mailing anymore...
In that case the goverment is an ass
Since it's the same thing (except for worshiing)
finnsia 2 years ago
i meant to say god is an ass, not to say the government isn't either.

ThallesNinja 2 years ago
actually..you will exist....
after you die....

Believing in God is someones choice. If they are trying to pressure their beliefs on someone then fuck them. The right thing to do is to just stay out of other peoples business. Stating an opinion is perfectly fine.

I am not that religious although I got to say one thing. "here's some free will, if you love me cool if you don't what ever" no let's be honest it's more like "here's some free will, if you love me were cool but if you don't..... fuck you ya jerk." Really not saying I disagree with anything but wouldn't you give the finger to someone ya just gave a favor too.
evilmonkeyg1 2 years ago
Instead of calling god a hypocrite why don't try to find an answer. you could read the bible a little more, ask another Christian (there's millions of us), or pray for an answer.
PriceCornell 2 years ago

Fair enough, but it is more fee will as in "go to hell if you really want, but I'm always here otherwise". :)
thenintendoman 2 years ago
