  • Loggins and Messina > Poison by far...

  • Van Halen is one of the few Groups who does covers even better than the Original.

  • @BBQFanNo1 you have no idea what you're talking about do you

  • Comment removed

  • Dr.Hooks version has a blues, piano centric edge

  • classic.it also been covered by dr hook too,who version sounds almost like the original.

  • Why do you people think Poison "covered" this song. They knew great music when they heard it. This song is a classic in it's original state. Redo's and cover's of it are awesome as well, but it all starts with the original.

  • @dawhit10 Google it idiot. 1988. The album with a controversial demonic cover.

  • @BBQFanNo1 ..Your calling me an idiot...I was making a blanket statement about covering song....your a fucking moron asshole

I get so sick of assholes like you parading around youtube posting bullshit comments and putting down people...so I'll join the fun and tell you, when you mom quits laying out clothes to wear for the day you snotty assed nose punk then come and talk to me, otherwise if you don't know me SHUT THE FUCK UP ASSHOLE!!!!

  • Six people don't dance or rock-and-roll!

  • Poison's version is so much better

  • I like this version better than poison's version

  • they don,t write songs like this anymore, and thats a shame.I love this song and arrangement.

  • dude! you're my hero!

  • @FlyingAce1016 Ahhh, NO, doesn't sound like the late 50's. Much more "advanced" and "complex" than songs from early Rock n Roll of the late 50's. I don't know what year this song was done (I don't read it here anywhere), but definitely of the 70's.

  • @aspenrebel your right 72 to 73 is when it hit the charts

  • I love this song. It always makes me want to start tapping my feet!!! It's so much fun!!!

  • thats a good song

  • I was born in 1892 and I like this song too! When were YOU born?

  • @k9taxi your old

  • @k9taxi Don't you mean 1992? Cause if you born then, You'd be dead. (Note my Sarcasm)

  • I'm a huge fan of Rock n' Roll, Heavy Metal, and everything in between. Personally, I like Poison's cover more than this, but it's a fantastic song either way, so it doesn't really matter.

  • @RanMouri1995 No thanks. The only Rock Group that did a better cover than the ORIGINAL is Van Halen of Roy Orbison songs. Fuck the Poison cover. Loggins & Messina owns this Song.

  • wow this does not sound 70s it sounds almost late 50s the style of rock i mean its swing

  • i always loved this song.if my memory is correct it came out in the 70s ???.many sang but this was one of the best groups.

  • i would hate to have those parents

  • Lady: "How much will you give for this autographed album of Kenny Loggins?"

    Stoner: "Six dollars, lady..."

    Lady: "But it's autographed!"

    Stoner: "Ok, five dollars..."

    -Half Baked

  • grrreat song, in my opinion :)

  • This is my favorite song. Got to hear the two of them sing it LIVE at the Phoenix Dodge Theater. Kenny Loggins always puts on a beautiful concert anyway... Hope he keeps on truckin' forever.

  • @AmericanAirlinesRle, you're not kidding.

  • So this is where 'your momma' jokes came from ._.

  • My mom dances and my dad rocks and rolls.

  • My freind always says you can't spell CRAP without RAP. So, this song has to be good, to her. I love this song too, though. Shoot! I've had this song stuck in my head for two weeks now.

  • This is soooooooo good. Thank you for posting. What a great song.......

  • Love this song

  • In my dance recital, my tap class is dancing to this song :) It's the best!

  • @24Joyjoy me too! at rafa! who is this?

  • I just wanted to hear the "Outta the Car, long hair!" 'cause I heard it in "High Plains Drifter" by the Beastie Boys.

  • Kenny and Jim hit #4 in Billboard, 1-27-73. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • I can imagine white people rockin' out to this in their dad's car while passing around a joint...straight outta "That 70's Show".

  • And the next song you listen to should be "Smokin' in the boys room"

  • i totally thought i was the only one who noticed! this song reminds me of smoking in the boys room!

  • GET OUTTA THE CAR LONG HAIR! best line of the song

  • I wonder if in 30 years people will be wistfully remembering the good old days of Justin Bieber and Brittany Spears?

  • @MrBacchus18 they'll have no choice. sad really. this song was on the jukebox in the cafeteria in my high school. ahh such memories. talk about a rockin' lunch.

  • @LD088 Your high school cafteria had a juke box????? Damn. Where'd you go to school, man? Wish I had gone there! :)

  • @Daly1616 you seem to have made a major typing mistake

  • i love this song its awesome i love it and the 240 people who like it 2 have mamas who dance and daddys who rock n roll

  • 5 people have mamas who dance and daddies who rock and roll

  • Comment removed

  • Thats because the mama rock and rolls and the daddy dances .D.

  • @daly1616 WHAT!!!!!

  • Y&T have the best cover of this song!

  • lol

  • Jim Messina was formerly of Poco and Buffalo Springfield.

  • you NEVER tell a black person YOUR MAMA DONT DANCE ...

    a because its bad mannners

b because most black women can dance

c because most black people dont know their real mamas

  • @teehonky that shit was so funny, i thorugh they didn,t know the mama,s baby daddy.

  • @TheTrigger900 some cant even tie their shoes ..the ones they steal..so go figure

  • @teehonky i'm black and my mama REALLY don't dance, cause she can't. i don't care.

  • @victorspell1 good ..now go to church

  • @teehonky U dumb prick!! The hell does being on youtube to much gotta do with religion? FYI, I'm a Baptist! Don't talk to me anymore, ya jerk.

  • @victorspell1 wicca much?

  • Too bad these 4 folks don't appreciate good music, right, gang? Hit #4 in Billboard. God bless!

  • your moma dont dance, because she got a wooden leg

  • This was on the radio when I was driving on the way home from the airport! I was so happy to hear this again. Ah good times good times..Didn't they put this song in Footloose?

  • Comment removed

  • This some sort 70's Rock 'N Roll trowback to the 50's. Sounds a little generic and cheesy. Not bad though. A lot better out there though.

  • My mom does dance and rock n' rolls! my dad does neither.

  • Jim Messina (born James Melvin Messina, December 5, 1947, Maywood, California) was a member of Buffalo Springfield, then an original member of the country rock band Poco, before he joined with Kenny Loggins to form the soft rock duo, Loggins and Messina.

  • If your out on a date and you bring it home late, it's a sin.

  • Music was way better than back then. This is better than today's music.

  • @dbzgirl41 You got that right.

  • Love it, love it, so many memories.

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule not really they all right

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule yup poison, cenderella and alot of other glam bands suck, twisted sister and motley crue are the only ones i can stand

  • Out band is playing this song for stand music at football games this year! It does son\und really really cool, instrumental wise and original song swell too.

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule poison who? lol

  • this is what AMERICAN music is really about not rap or crap as the poster of this video put it

  • thumbs up

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule Poisons version is ALRIGHT, but NOWHERE near as good as this version. I don't mind poison, but they aren't that great. This kind of music is the real deal!!! :)

  • @sabroe89 is the cussing really necasary? oh and btw the original is the best!!!!!!

  • poison did it better.

  • 1971 hit song

  • i need the tabs for this song.. i love it haha so if someone gots some good tabs for the whole song reply to this or somthing please

  • "Out of the car, Longhair!"

  • @VgMrgn Please tell me you don't believe that!

  • Now this IZZZZZZ Rock N Roll!!!

  • I'm the only person in my class who listens to this kind of music, but i don't care. This song rocks!

  • I love music from EVERY generation ... before and after my own generation.

Gotta tell ya the truth as I see it:

"Today's music ain't got the same soul!" ... Thank you, Bob Seger!

This song came out when I was in college: THOSE were the days? Why? Because, music back then was made for joy and celebration and not for careers and money. Of course, there were exceptions.

There is plenty of good music out today too. It's all relative.

    Rock on ... FoJ.

  • @FanOfJanis omg.. u have to be the only remaining living fan of joplin.. "wink".. lol

  • @AlwaysOnMyMind1969 - Absolutely, and I will be until the day I pass away! As you know, there actually are others who remember and love Janis from back in The Day. She passed away the very day before my 15th birthday. There are many young people these days discovering Janis and loving her. Alright! I still wear my Janis shirts sometimes! Rock on ... FoJ

  • @FanOfJanis hahaha.. i just couldn't get passed bobby mcgee.. that song ruined me as a joplin fan.. but there are so many great singers/bands from that timeframe.. i have having it out with a guy right now on another vid.. he claims jefferson airplane wasn't shit to rock history.. i guess u had to actually be alive to know anything about grace slick and company

  • @AlwaysOnMyMind1969 - Actually, that guy is wrong about Jefferson Airplane. Here's why: Jefferson Airplane was THE FIRST psychedelic (San Francisco Haight-Ashbury) band to get a contract with a major record company, have top-10 hits on the radio, get nationwide and worldwide radio and TV exposure ... which got the attention of the major print media. This kicked-off The Youth Movement. THAT CHANGED HISTORY! Jefferson Airplane ... kicked it all off!

  • @FanOfJanis i have tried to explain this to him.. tried to tell him that no matter if he likes them or not "there exist 12-15 groups in rock history that demand respect" and Jefferson Airplane is one of them.. i explained to him how there would be no psychadelic rock movement if not for them

  • Classics rule

  • The original and best version. Hit #4 in Billboard. God bless! Thanx for postin', AmericanAirlines.

  • heck, i was born in 1990 and I love this song!

  • love it

  • My dad loves this song.

  • samsicka ~ my dad does too! lol

  • Loggins & Messina doesn't get enough credit or attention, IMHO. Check out their Mother Lode album - it's a brilliant blend of musical styles. I saw them perform on September 12 and they sounded great!

  • Ahhh, I used to have this album... Love that this song has been posted! Thanks!!

  • Tell you people what, this music is much better then what people my age listen to, which should be spelt like CRAP instead of RAP.

  • HA!

  • @tapstar84 haahahahaha i like the comment....... and its true

  • @tapstar84 so true

  • @tapstar84 You just made my day, my friend. :)

  • @tapstar84 I almost spit out my water reading that. Love it lol

  • @tapstar84

    Hey, stop being an ass.

  • @shiftergoddessathena um how am i being an @SS?

  • man, you are so arrogant.

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule That's pretty hilarious, what you did there. You made the name of a genre of music, rap, into a derogatory term; crap. Brilliant. Do you have a newsletter I could subscribe to?

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule Yeah you're right like John Entwhistle said 'If you can't sing, rap!'

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule

    Thank you, Karl Malone.

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule you know what you are absolutly right todays music is absolutely awful and derogitory tward wemon and minoritys i hope this kind of music will get popular again because the trash today polutes our minds

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule oh, you may be young, but you are pretty smart...

    have a great night...

keeps me believing everything is gonna be alright....

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule This is much better compared to Poison's cover version..

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule Its true, but we made this too. haha. you know who you can blame for commercializing rap music? cus it's not the black man. LOL. i wish we COULD blame THAT on them. but alas. There is one race controling all races, and they control the monetary system!!!! YIPPIE! Roots music is truelly from the soul. Long Live ROOTS MUSIC!!!

  • @AmericanAirlinesRule I'm with you. It's a contradiction in the first place - Rap shouldn't even be considered music. It's just profanity to a drum machine.

  • @Tanvan180

Or dubbed over stolen snippets of songs the wish they had the talent to write.

  • This song must be very difficult to dance to, especially for a bunch of middle schoolers.

  • I'm in charge of all the middle school dances where I teach and having a live DJ at each dance, I make sure he plays this song at EVERY dance. That's when I jump out on the floor and join in with the whole middle school! It's great and the kids love it! They look forward to hearing this song!
