I'm impressed with your knowledge and love of the game, but I still don't think the 4th Edition is truly worthwhile. The "role-playing" of a fantasy civilization is gone, as is much of the Tolkein feel. 4th Edition is too much an attempt to turn a tabletop game into a video game. As for the Character Builder, its still in beta testing, 18 months after 4th Ed was introduced in June 2008. I much prefer using Fantasy Grounds virtual tabletop (which is a 1 time fee) which works for many games
