just make sure you got something to push those mosfets. as if your not pushing them into the saturation area without over-driving them, the internal channel resistance will be too high and they will explode. i found this out the hard way on my RC lawnmower.
This was not meant to be efficient. I built this controller to just get the golf cart going until I had time to build the 500A 15.5khz PWM controller I have been working on with some friends. It is constructed of 10-120A N-Channel MOSFET's and 10 Free-wheel diodes. It is designed to drive and EV car conversion, So it should move a golf cart very well.
@Adamj12b Nice work man! I'm currently working on a project simular to yours. I was wondering if you used a H-bridge or did you connect your FETS in parallel.
@KreyNeeUhm Thanks! This was just 3 transistors from radio shack that were used to control the coils of the speed contactor that were originally in the cart. Check out my other videos to see the digital controller I built based of the Open Revolt Motor Controller. Im working on my next controller now that is 1/3rd the size, 600A and waterproof.

very inefficiant. try using the BASIC stamp to build a PWM circuit with power transistors.
