  • This's a real Russia. The present Russia's not Russian, (A Saigonese-VN)

  • Magnificent editing to Shostakovich's Second Waltz - whoever put this together should get some kind of credit here. What is their name?? Wonderful cuts of movement to movement, camera moves to items moving within the shot, pan to pan.... it's literally a textbook on expert cutting. I cannot praise this enough - this is a total pleasure. AND the visual effects by MILL 3D are stunning and haven't dated at all! Beautiful work, you people!

  • What movies are those?

  • @andorhalier they not movies, they are just commercials.... i think

  • @TheFuryFighterX1 Yes i figured out that some are commercials but some of them just don't look like commercials, especialy that burning town xD

  • @andorhalier Why?

  • @andorhalier Why?

  • @Borkkas Who the fuck uses a disaster as a commercial? Maybe in Soviet Russia. xD

  • @andorhalier Commercial for what? This is not a commercial at all. It is a videoart.- A videocollage with a very suggestive music. Very temptation and nice piece of Dmitri S. One of his best!

  • amazing!

  • what a terrific piece of music!!! nice video. thx for sharing!

  • that was truly inspiring. i hope i can be as good as you one day.

  • this is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wiliya

  • the video is so...idk fucking awesome

  • Musique envoûtant! Comment Shostakovich ll´a composé?

Bravo!

  • Very well done ;O) thumbs up!

  • very artistic composition. nice.

  • 0:14 SENTRY GOIN' UP !

  • so perfect

  • PERFECT MUSIC TO HEAR. F A N T A S T I C!!!

  • PERFECT MUSIC TO HEAR

  • 2:28 was that lela from futurama?!?!?!

  • Love it!

  • The piece really does radiate some kind of irony, it's almost as if Shostakovich is trying to say "why worry, everything is alright" with a smirk in his face.

The only two other pieces that give me this feeling are the second movement of Gershwins Piano Concerto and Joplins Magnetic Rag. It's almost as if they are telling you that everything is perfectly fine while you get the impression that it isn't.

  • @playingmusiconmars everyone has they're own opinions so dont tell someone it doesnt make that person feel this way. yo have your feeling and we have ours so stfu

  • @guess6more

Well, because everybody is entitled to their opinion, everybody is able to express it. I did so.

And what are you talking about? I never evaluated the emotional quality of this piece, I just compared it with two other pieces that share the same mood. I see no problem with that, so just relax and enjoy the music.

  • Beautiful..

  • i finally found who the composer is! :D i absolutely adore that music!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • i love the music... but i don't like the video... :((

  • oh and... too bad there are so many comments about the apocalypse. And they tell ME I have a problem.

    Enjoy the video!

  • This video has been put together by someone who knew what this music is about. It enhances the experience... by adding visual stimulation of the same "frequency" as the song.

  • Stunning animation.

  • this video is fantastic! The rhythmic but calm music vs. the hectic pictures.... great!

  • From which movie is the scene at 0:44 ??

  • Lol, Shostakovich was all about the absurd and grotesque. With the ads, it kinda of works. Its a grotesque age after all.

Was soll das???????????????

  • beautiful.that's all i can say. :)

  • In general I don`t listen to classic music. But this song is really beautiful. <3

  • the tempo is perfect.

  • its an art!

  • What the movie 0:38 - 0:46 ?

  • That's a magical world of vfx.

  • This is the kind of music that we'll be hearing during the Apocalypse... It's got some strange kind of irony.

  • that and space odity i recon....

    gives me the chills too

  • @Zwijnhaat

if this is the soundtrack of the apocalypse, then the end is near i hope... better the right 3:16 min to live than a full lifetime with all that crappy hiphop-charts-lady gaga-shit...

  • @Zwijnhaat And 'Ears Wide Open', too.

  • For a lark, I got a pair of super-hyperactive toddlers to watch this video. The two boys, aged three and five, watched in total silence and hit replay immediately each time the video ended -- three times. They only started discussing between themselves what they saw in this fantastic video collage during the fourth replay. Then they watched it again two more times. That's how good it is. Obviously the classical music industry people have something to learn here.

  • this is such a beautiful song...Ana porgras uses it as her floor music! all russian classical music composers were AMAZING!

  • That is exactly why I was searching for this music!! Beautiful

  • real?? yeah I agree...thanks for putting it up! it is truly amazing! i listen to it almost everyday!

  • The Second Waltz !

  • The theme song in the movie "Eyes Wide Shut".. A hypnotic melody in the movie!!!

  • It's hypnotizing.

  • nice video! and beautiful music..

  • This is a nice way of making a classical piece really interesting, to those who think it's boring..... Nice work!!

  • neone who thinks this music is boring needs to have their head checked

  • I was talking about those who get bored by classic music. Sometimes by giving them a nice "picture", they might be able to sit down and listen to it and then they realise what they are "missing". I am one of those who can't live without this kind of music. This i why i play the violin..

  • awesome song, the vid is sometimes really strange, but very good!

  • Behlül ve Nihal iceri girerken calan Müzik müthis!!

  • where can i get this song?

  • as mentioned in the title, the waltz is from shosakovich....

  • wrong.

  • grrrreat music and video...i would like to know from what movie are the images

  • i thing the most of them are from advertisements^^

  • open mouth

  • The best waltz I have ever heard.

  • Gutes video aber nicht zu diese song.

  • I dont see this song as a mechanical waltz, but the video edition is nice.

  • Beautifull.. Music.:D

  • oh, suite waltz, no.2, I love this, the composer is excellent, he was a comtemporary composer, he died in 1975, he was a genius! I love his style of music, I chose one of his fugue to play in the grade 8 exam and I made it!

  • V I D E O

    B E L L I S S I M O ! ! !

  • It is a montage of commercials produced by The Mill. Not surprisingly, most of Shostakovich's Jazz suit pieces seems to fit for those contemporary visuals. And I've read that a French thinks of Shostakovich as the second, or even third pressing of Mahler. Oh well ... everyone is entitled to have their own opinions.

  • A waltz like this naturally works with the cyclic 360 pan for example around the skyscrapers and the race car engine which instills a sense of the profound.

Whats this about Shos, the French and Mahler?

Please elaborate, I am intrigued. Do you mean to say that Frenchmen consider Shos a refinement of Mahler or a ripoff? I just want to know. Please.

  • I was talking about Pierre Boulez's criticizing Dimitri Shostakovich's works.

  • Pah, Boulez can hardly live up to his own standards!

  • I don't know about the French...

I think you need to be cold, perhaps a bit hungry...

I think you need to leave materialism behind to listen to this song.

Yes it pans well, but it was written by a Soviet man ( trouble, subversive yes man I don't judge ) and its not about race cars and skyscrapers.

  • Shostakovich wasn't a soviet man. He was forced to join the communist party in 1960 which reduced him to tears. Stalin had shut down the production of one of his operas because it was too anti-soviet. Apart from that I agree with everything else you say. The piece conjures up the image of a snowy night in moscow, on your way to a ballroom dance or something..

  • I've been thinking about your reply for 2 weeks now.....

I guess that its all in the ear. I live in a cold snowy place, this plays well on a night like this to me.

And there were more, two opera were banned.

The Bolt and Lady Macbeth along with several pieces of music before 1936 and again he was in trouble in late 40's

  • strepitoso video!!!strepitoso Shostakovich!!

  • beautiful music

  • my mom looooooves this song its her #1 fav

  • nich schlecht

  • This music is fabulous. Was searching Youtube specifically for this piece. But not quite sure what the video is all about...

  • me too, searching the piece, russian waltz.

don't understand what the viedo means, and maybe ADs for a new car?

  • It seems to be a collection of campaigns carried out by an agency during 2003, amongst them are Carling beer, Blockbuster video, Toyota F1, BT Broadband, the Mercedes ad with Benicio Del Toro and many others.
