right but how many people had to keep re-recording there video entry because it was over 5 minutes and they wanted to follow the rules. Who knows one of there original recordings over 5 mins may have won. Then you have the top ten with videos over 5 minutes and if they actually followed the rules and had to keep re-recording some of there personality that shined through may have been lost and they may not have made top ten.
@TruBeauty4Life I personally recorded mine in 1 take. That was it. idk if you saw my video or not, but I went to school for broadcasting, so I know what fits into 5 mins (I do a lot of news broadcasts) I know mine was too announcer-ish. I see what happened with mine. I could've probably did another take and sounded less "radio personality like" But what someone submits is what they feel confident in submitting. And what rule wasn't followed by the finalist? Was it the name of the video?
The proof is in the fudge, rules were stated at the beginning of this challenge and half the finalists didnt follow rules. What are rules there for then. Others that may not have made it followed the rules and maybe they would have made it in if they werent so concerned with staying under 5 minutes. I actually didnt create a video at all, i was simply reviewing videos.

I saw a lot of the videos that were on the finalists list BEFORE the vid. announcement, and I was really impressed. I'd watch a lot of these people again, regardless if they were finalists! And I think that's the point. She wanted to pick people that we would WANT to watch. And she had a huge range of personalities on that list. It was very well rounded I think :)
@Tayzerfun This TruBeauty4Life person made a comment on my own video, stating "Weak video, weak personality, I hope this doesn't make it". She also made some rude comments on other videos, including one of the finalists (BoyWithBrushes). I wouldn't hold anything she says to much merit, as she's too 'weak' to make a comment with her own account (she participated in the contest on her real account), and all she's doing is ruining this experience for others. So imo, disregard her :)

Once I figured out how to upload with out it freezing my computer, I have really enjoyed doing videos as well! @BeautyBent Hi! :) My MUG review was the first video I've done (besides a small entry for a contest from a while back) I plan on doing more. :) Might not be always about makeup. I might throw in some cooking, self-defense demos, and how to make beaded jewelry. My channel will have a lot of stuff going on. (I hope!) :) I checked out your video about a week or so ago. @BeautyBent That is such a great idea. Regardless of the outcome of the competition, if something positive could come out of this that would be a great thing.
Have you all reviewed alot of the videos and left feedback on the videos of your thoughts towards there personality shown in the video or knowledge relating to products. I just hope Marlena picks someone who is fun in there video and excited about the products they talk about. None of us wanna see her hire a person or people that are boring with no personality. Makeup should be fun!!!!
@TheWikedObsession i think there is quite a bit you can learn about someone in 5 minutes, whether you are face to face or watching a video on the internet. Especially those characteristics and traits MUG is looking for, those are definetly visible within a 5 minute video. And i dont know what question you are trying to answer, I made a statment!!!! Ohhh the suspense!! Hehe. I started my channel to make a contest entry for the MUG challenge, and since then, I've made quite a few more. It's been really fun, not to mention highly entertaining-- So, no matter what the MUG results are, I'm going to keep posting videos. I hope everyone else does too, 'cause I love watching y'all! Especially you quirky, crazy ladies. :)
@reallygraceful I had a channel for a long time, but I never did post videos until the MUG opportunity came up! Every time I put on a new product, I always think of things I'd like to share about it, and what I'd put in a video. It's totally ingrained in me now! :)

@TheWickedobsession your suggestion is decent however it seems like that would take Marlena and her staff even longer to identify a candidate. Also correct me if im wrong but isnt your video well over the allotated time of 5 mins. Your video shouldn't be exceeding 10-14 mins or even the 5 minute mark....
@TruBeauty4Life@TruBeauty4Life. It seems that Marlena and staff are struggling over the canidate to hire, not to give away make up so I imagine it's more of a difficult decision. For myself, I don't think I'd be able to hire someone based off of a 5 min video, which is why I offered my suggestion. So I'm trying to address your question completeley, but I really don't see how my video would fit into the equation. At this point, I'm not concerned with my video, but thanks for your 2 cents.
I did have an idea & wasn't sure if it would help you, but here goes...Instead of picking 10, why not pick 20 or 30 that you & the MUG staff like and have them do a round 2 w/another product chosen by you...limit the product selection to 3-5 items. This way you get to see how ppl hedge against each other and plus you get to see more of their qualifications. The only reason why I didn't say 1 product is because of product availability reasons, gotta make it feasible somehow! ; )
I almost feel that Marlena and her team should just choose the final 3 since they are going to be the ones working with these individuals. I hope it doesnt come down to a popularity contest with voting for those top 3, that would be unfortunate. Again, good luck ladies, hopefully here soon we will find out the next steps in this process......
Just as mymakeupobsession agreed with my comment, if those videos were eliminated that didnt follow instructions that review time would be cut down quite a bit. Marlena still has her hands full with this decision.
@TayzerFun the problem is, is that there are tons of videos that are over 5 minutes. Not saying that Marlena chose to review those videos however, if she did than you can add several hours to that total review time. Either way I just hope that Marlena takes it easy on herself but wraps it up as quickly as possible.
@TruBeauty4Life yeah, that's true too. But I also saw a lot of videos around the 3 min. mark also. I took the average video time (and the max that was listed in the rules). She's the CEO and hiring someone for a job, if she took another week to decide, I personally wouldn't sweat it too much. A lot of people are forgetting that it's a paid job position, and not just a contest. She has to pick people that she can trust and thinks can represent her company well.
So lets break it down: Number video entries= 326. Average length of each video, about 5 mins lets say. So 326x5= 1630 mins! and 1630/60mins.....is about 27 hours and 15 mins!! That's a long time to watch youtube videos! Especially when your tired and still recovering from a major surgery. Marlena, you just go pop some popcorn and take your time! (Or grab some snap peas!) You are going to be hiring one of the winners, so you just do "yo boss thang!" and pick great people!
@mymakeupobsession ur welcome for the update, and 13 hours ago she was finalizing the list of finalists so you would think it would be done by now. and your right mymakeupobsession, if the people who couldnt follow instructions were eliminated then Marlena would have it easier and the process wouldnt take nearly as long. She must be reviewing all videos even videos improperly labeled and over 5 minutes. Good luck ladies, the suspense is killing me.

I received an email from the MUG team that says the following: "Marlena is buzy watching the videos but there were hundreds of them and it takes much more time than she thought it would. She'll be announcing the winners as fast as possible, so hang in there : ) " The MUG team.
Can you guys imagine if there would of been over 1000 entries? Geez.... out of all her subbies its actually surprising there was only just under 400. I would think that 8 days would be enough to choose, but I guess we are all that great! Isnt that right peeps? But yeah Im with you all on this.....I am soooooo anxious already!!!

Has anyone elses video just disappear off the video response pages? I entered it last saturday, and yesterday it just vanished. Its still an active video and its on my channel still. Does anyone know what happened?
I am NOT trying to be a hater but I really think it's not fair when youtube partners or already youtube gurus that have hundreds of subscribers are trying out for this challenge. I mean come on....everyone who posted a video response here is obviously new and it's hard to compete with someone that has been doing this for a very long time...not to mention when they have SOO much experience/subscribers. It's just not fair.
@ilovemakeup234 I don't see what is not fair about it. The contest is about finding the best person for the job, whether it is someone who has 1 subscriber or a million subscribers. If you were looking for a paid position, you would want the most qualified person. It sounds like sour grapes more than anything else.

i really love all the positive comments on here. its great to see that we can be adults about this competition and not let it get to our heads (eventhough the suspense is killing us) but i def. agree we should support eachother bc i am a beginner as well and will continue to do videos. anyway u. should check out my channel and if u.like subsribe and ill return the gesture. i kno ive already subscribed to a few of u :) good luck guys

I was very nervous and kinda serious in my video :), but I guess that's how that goes. Once I figured out how to upload with out it freezing my computer, I have really enjoyed doing videos as well! There is always room for improvement as far as my editing and lighting goes, but if you all want to, we should subscribe to each other and see if we can start a following together!! @BeautyBent Hi! :) My MUG review was the first video I've done (besides a small entry for a contest from a while back) I plan on doing more. :) Might not be always about makeup. I might throw in some cooking, self-defense demos, and how to make beaded jewelry. My channel will have a lot of stuff going on. (I hope!) :) I checked out your video about a week or so ago. I liked it a lot! :)

Have you all reviewed alot of the videos and left feedback on the videos of your thoughts towards there personality shown in the video or knowledge relating to products. I just hope Marlena picks someone who is fun in there video and excited about the products they talk about. None of us wanna see her hire a person or people that are boring with no personality. Makeup should be fun!!!!

@TheWikedObsession i think there is quite a bit you can learn about someone in 5 minutes, whether you are face to face or watching a video on the internet. Especially those characteristics and traits MUG is looking for, those are definetly visible within a 5 minute video. And i dont know what question you are trying to answer, I made a statment!!!! Ohhh the suspense!! Hehe. I started my channel to make a contest entry for the MUG challenge, and since then, I've made quite a few more. It's been really fun, not to mention highly entertaining-- So, no matter what the MUG results are, I'm going to keep posting videos. I hope everyone else does too, 'cause I love watching y'all! @TheWickedobsession your suggestion is decent however it seems like that would take Marlena and her staff even longer to identify a candidate. Also correct me if im wrong but isnt your video well over the allotated time of 5 mins. Your video shouldn't be exceeding 10-14 mins or even the 5 minute mark....

@TruBeauty4Life @TruBeauty4Life. It seems that Marlena and staff are struggling over the canidate to hire, not to give away make up so I imagine it's more of a difficult decision. For myself, I don't think I'd be able to hire someone based off of a 5 min video, which is why I offered my suggestion. So I'm trying to address your question completeley, but I really don't see how my video would fit into the equation. At this point, I'm not concerned with my video, but thanks for your 2 cents.

I did have an idea & wasn't sure if it would help you, but here goes...Instead of picking 10, why not pick 20 or 30 that you & the MUG staff like and have them do a round 2 w/another product chosen by you...limit the product selection to 3-5 items. This way you get to see how ppl hedge against each other and plus you get to see more of their qualifications. The only reason why I didn't say 1 product is because of product availability reasons, gotta make it feasible somehow! ; )

I almost feel that Marlena and her team should just choose the final 3 since they are going to be the ones working with these individuals. I hope it doesnt come down to a popularity contest with voting for those top 3, that would be unfortunate. Just as mymakeupobsession agreed with my comment, if those videos were eliminated that didnt follow instructions that review time would be cut down quite a bit. Marlena still has her hands full with this decision.

@TayzerFun the problem is, is that there are tons of videos that are over 5 minutes. Not saying that Marlena chose to review those videos however, if she did than you can add several hours to that total review time. Either way I just hope that Marlena takes it easy on herself but wraps it up as quickly as possible.

@TruBeauty4Life yeah, that's true too. But I also saw a lot of videos around the 3 min. mark also. I took the average video time (and the max that was listed in the rules). She's the CEO and hiring someone for a job, if she took another week to decide, I personally wouldn't sweat it too much. A lot of people are forgetting that it's a paid job position, and not just a contest. She has to pick people that she can trust and thinks can represent her company well.

So lets break it down: Number video entries= 326. Average length of each video, about 5 mins lets say. So 326x5= 1630 mins! and 1630/60mins.....is about 27 hours and 15 mins!! That's a long time to watch youtube videos! Especially when your tired and still recovering from a major surgery. Marlena, you just go pop some popcorn and take your time! (Or grab some snap peas!) You are going to be hiring one of the winners, so you just do "yo boss thang!" and pick great people!

@mymakeupobsession ur welcome for the update, and 13 hours ago she was finalizing the list of finalists so you would think it would be done by now. and your right mymakeupobsession, if the people who couldnt follow instructions were eliminated then Marlena would have it easier and the process wouldnt take nearly as long. She must be reviewing all videos even videos improperly labeled and over 5 minutes. Good luck ladies, the suspense is killing me.

I am NOT trying to be a hater but I really think it's not fair when youtube partners or already youtube gurus that have hundreds of subscribers are trying out for this challenge. I mean come on....everyone who posted a video response here is obviously new and it's hard to compete with someone that has been doing this for a very long time...not to mention when they have SOO much experience/subscribers. It's just not fair.

@ilovemakeup234 I don't see what is not fair about it. The contest is about finding the best person for the job, whether it is someone who has 1 subscriber or a million subscribers. If you were looking for a paid position, you would want the most qualified person. It sounds like sour grapes more than anything else.
