@Absoltastic I had to buy a new LCD. Except..I think it only has 4 screws...........I think. I can't see the screws on the top after i took out the rubber stuff.
I would only like to ad that $170 is really expensive to invest in an older laptop. I know you can get screens on ebay (nothing wrong with used) for less than $30. You can be an awesome computer on ebay for $170 working.
Hello, I have a Satellite L305D and I recently thought the Lighting on the screen had broken, But I realize the connection of the lighting is just loose, (Figured it out randomly when my brother went to get on WoW [we have it connected to an External mon] ) My question, if I follow this guide, would I be able to get into the internal casing and secure the connection of the light?
Dude, went into one of the local big box shops to have them change my lcd screen that I purchased on ebay. They quoted me 300 bucks! Found your video and did it myself in about 30 minutes. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good video. Lose the music, it's pointless and annoying and distracting. Talk instead. Explain in words what you are doing. Again, good video. Well done. Thanks.
hey there very helpful video my toshiba l510 pro satellite laptop has a cracked screen ...were would i buy a new screen? and how would i know witch screen to buy sorry im useless with laptops lol
I have a Toshiba A305D and I just replaced the screen today. I have lines flashing in certain spots of my screen now. Not constant though, it'll blink, then stop and then on another part of the screen it'll flash a line. (Does that make sense?) I was wondering if you know what I did wrong?
Well, i need to replace my screen ,and this will be my first attempt to ever fix something like this. The thing is, what are the materials i need to get this replacement done? I'm scared i might mess my laptop even more. What are the key things to know before attempting this? Do you think i should just have the repair done by Best Buy, I have warranty but will it cost as much as me repairing it myself? thank you
I have a question about my screen. About 4 months ago is started doing this weird thing with the color but I could just ajust the bottom (hinge) with my hand and it worked fine. Now, I cannot do that anymore and it is mostly white. Everyone says I need a new screen, but if I hold it in just the right spot (with both hands) then it looks fine. But I cannot use it like that. Where is a safe reliable place to buy a screen? Thanks!
hi i have a toshiba a100 599 laptop and iam having backlight problems :( the backlight works wen the screen is opened about 10 degrees but as soon as i open it more it turns the backlight off. do you know were i can disconnect the switch or sensor that tells the backlight wen the screen is opened or closed? any help will be great
TYVM! I had never even thought I could do this myself, matter of fact I paid a tech shop $75 a few months ago to replace a netbook screen. Was very nervous, but did it in 35 minutes (kept dropping the teeny tiny screws). Again, TYVM!!!
@Commandos12 Because the interwebs is awesome! Ummmmm.... check yellow pages and there might be one. You could also always try a computer store and see if they sell screens. If they don't have one for your computer in stock, you could always have them put it on back order for you
@Absoltastic every PC store i've went to, they only order stuff for me IF i get it fixed by them *so they can charge u labor fee*, but i can do it myself D:
i checked the part i need cost about 150 dollars *canadian* on most online stores, and if i go2 a pc store and order/fix it, they'll charge 400 bucks O_O
Unless you live by a manufacturer, they aren't sold in any retail that I've seen, quite frankly because the retails would rather you buy a whole new computer instead. I'm sure they do it for other reasons, but that is certain. I've a friend in the business.
mart all laptop screens open relitavely similar to this, there's not much to opening and replacing a screen if you know what your doing, but yeah its exacly the same, "bumpers, screws under the bumpers, pull off the bevel and un-do the screws on the side holding the screen in place"
gaz did you plug the inverter back in, if you have'nt plugged that back in, the screen with not light up. "just be a dark screen" seeing stuff on the screen very faintly
Great video thanks mate..just struck one problem compared to you....I've got a Toshiba M200 and the screen doesn't lie completely flat like yours..and so bevel doesn't come free at the bottom hinge..have tugged to the point of nearly snapping...must be some other lock there...any clues?
Great video! I just ordered my new lcd screen off Ebay for my Toshiba Satellite A215-S5822. This video will be very helpful to my installing the new lcd screen in my Satellite. You did a great job by the way at showing everything! Thanks again from a T-Mobile G1 hacker! I hack anything and everything that I can! He He He!
I just paid a repair man 160 pounds to replace my laptop screen (Which is a dell), i cant believe i didnt do this myself, would have saved some money f.s, thanks for this video man, i think ill be able to do this in the furture
WOW thanks i was about to just smash my laptop my friend told me u couldnt fix the screens after they screwed me over on a warranty (PRICKS) but thatnks so much u saved me another 1000
hey thnkx for the vid. i hv the same laptop as urs. my problem is the screen of my laptop gets blurry and becomes white as it gets worse. i hv to push the screen in order to see the image clearly. do u know how i can fix it?? im thinking to disassemble the lcd screen and put it back together. thnx
dude. thnx so much. i work on pc,s but not on laptops an wanna my customers had a broken screen. i googled it and got this. helped out a ton. Thnx a bunch for the vid and tutorial. peace
The connector on the back of the LCD itself SHOULD be the same all round, I replaced the screen on a Toshiba from one out of an old Gateway, the only issues I had was that the brightness controls were wired the wrong way around and when you press the hotkey to turn it up it goes down, luckily the reverse is also true :D
@Absoltastic I can say your answer is correct. I have a messed up HP Compaq lcd (which incidentally is a lot harder to remove than this. You have to take apart the whole thing before you even get to the screen..) Anyway, I was looking at an LG screen which was only £20 =) Unfortunately, the connectors are the completely different way round to my laptop, hence why this wouldn't work...
I'm saving up for the monitor and someone else to repair mine :)
thanks for the tutorial. i followed the steps to replace the LCD screen on my compaq presario v2000, but it doesn't work. when i turn on my computer screen is just black. got the replacement screen on ebay--is it likely that the screen just doesn't work or am i doing something wrong?
Take it back apart and try reconnecting the wires. When I first did it,the ribbon cable wasn't connected well enough, and the exact same thing happened ti me.
hey i got 1 quest do u know where to get a toshiba monitor screen??? i got the old toshiba A105 and i needa get a laptop screen do u know where i can order 1?? like a cheap 1
I also have an acer travelmate that needs the screen replacing. I was just wondering how important is it to have a screen from the same model as a replacement? Should you replace the inverter as well if it is not the same screen or would it just work? Is there much difference in the connectors? Thanks
Is replacing a LCD screen for a labtop with a webcam and mic any different or is it still the same basic instuctions. I mean I could change it on a regular laptop but laptops with webcams, well it just confuses me.
About the same, a little harder to work the bezel off around the cam and mic areas. Panel inside is the same, cam and mic sit in the edges around the panel.
hey mate thanks a friend told me it can not be reparied as I can see it does thanks to youtube and you guys . lucky me I got Toshiba satellite how and where do I find a screen and what do you call the screen what model is for toshiba satellite ????????????
