The only problem is that China's population will still add about 250 million or so before levelling off, because there are so many more women in the reproductive period of their lives. Considering the fact that the United States is the fastest gorwing industrialized nation in the world with a very high fertility rate, a population of 1 billion is not out of the question by the year 2100. The USA grows by approximately 6 million people a year. And likewise, 1.5 million acres of American farmland every year is depleted due to urban sprawl. The USA has a young workforce and a much higher fertility and immigration rates than that of Europe, Russia, and elsewhere.
The sad thing is that we are at 30% of our carrying capacity meaning there's plenty of food in the world for everybody, yet people are still starving.

Don't know when this video was made but the world pop is around 7.5 billion, NOT 6.5 bil. It was 6 billion in early 1990's and trust me, we have grown more than 500 million in 18 years.
People who have more than 2 children per family are selfish, THE PLAGUE OF HUMANS will get worse, rich people will eat poor people and insects cause animals will not exist, and you can blame religious and greedy people, but the planet will rebuild after humans are gone.
I enjoy my life, because I'm raised into a small intelligent hardworking family. We follow limits on what we can eat, and that we believe that people must slaughter animals quickly to reduce their pain or we could just gas them, and that we don't drink wine or bring expensive decorations. If only having alot of kids and doing it at a young age was forbidden by every religion, then we would have no overpopulation problem.
You know, I'm wondering. Would I like it if I had the choice of being born into a poor large family in a rural area with no water or electricity or no medicine or would I rather just not have been born for the time being, which would absolutely not affect me? Gee I dunno.
you see or hear reports of rampant starvation in the ignorant world. If that occured here in USA, that child would be removed from their parent and the parent would be punished for neglect. No one is holding these people responsible for their actions, except Nature.

Our entire environment is ruled by strict laws that must be learned to avoid unnecessary sufferings. How do you suppose living the right kind of life if no one tells you what's right and what's wrong? Should everyone assume then should do whatever they want? Or should we accept the laws that are actually working?
Mother Nature's laws prevail in this situation. Humans are no different than animals. If the environment doesn't support them their will be migration or starvation. Sometimes Nature is a cruel master. She teaches what is right and what is wrong. The Natural Law is the one we should follow not flawed man-made laws.
I agree with you yet, If people really were responsible for their own actions we wouldn't have a need for laws, And we do need them. Also if it were as simple as you stated you're not taking into account that a lot if not most pregnancies are accidental. We're programmed to reproduce. Girls get pregnant on birth control all the time and condoms break. Once a girl's pregnant you're not going to base the decision on whether or not to have the child completely from a financial standpoint.

Although population should be controlled through education, it doesn't have to be the problem that it is today. Every person in the world could have their own regular sized house lot in the state of Washington. The troubles we are facing is with criminal leaders... including the church. The grown men and women who govern the world today actually believe a CORPORATION is a person. Corps are not allowed to vote, yet they are the only ones who are enjoying huge profits while all else are struggling. Just one CORP, say 'Blackwater', is allowed to spread itself everywhere and gobble up more resources than ONE PERSON has a right to. Repeal CORPORATE law and save our resources for the living.
Stop the over population of unwanted persons on Earth, the corporate ones. Corporate entities are seen as persons, by our laws. Those are the persons the Earth has too many of. We have all the resources available for HUMAN life. The Earth can only be destroyed by the corporate entity if we abuse the greatest of resources, HUMAN WILL. Rid the Earth (who itself should be considered a person) of corporate monsters.

We are making great strides in many areas including food, medical, and technological fields. We have the technology to produce enough food for the entire world. As well, we are curing many health problems everyday. And there is plenty of space to continue to grow in. There is plenty of room. The number of people per square mile in America is like 75. Even in heavily populated areas, such as New Jersey with 1100 people per square mile, everyone is able to live pretty well without any problems. Overpopulation is a myth used to try to keep power by a handful of people. Science is able to keep over population in check.

But don't delude yourself, at some point, mother nature will solve the problem for us if we don't, just as she does for Australian rabbits, lemmings, and any other speicies that tries to outgrow it's environment. Trying to convince people in europe and elsewhere that they need to have less kids will only make a slight difference which isn't worth the strain it will have economically. To have a worthwhile effect, you need to focus on developing nations.

There are a few ways to fight overpopulation, a current plan is trying to get nearly everyone to live in large cities because most human activity is centred there and leave the countrysides to forests and wind turbines. Another one is encouraging and forcing people to have less children. But just in case this doesn't work, scientists will also send humans to the Moon and Mars by the end of the century.

How about actually doing some real research. Within the next 30 years medical technology will be able to give humans life span that basically could potentially become infinite, and they're not worried about over population! Why? Because it's not the real problem. People consume more than they need, it's not that there are "too many" of us, BUT, even if you don't believe that, by the end of this century many scientists believe that we will be able to expand our civilizations to the moon and mars!

war makes very little impact actually, it only causes a slight slowing down.
The only noticable times it caused a population decrease in the 20th century were the population of france in ww1 and even then it didnt go down by much and it quickly recovered after the war.
Even Soviet Russia with its vast losses in ww2, it didnt cause population decline because of new births and having a young population at that time.

Overpopulation does cause great damage. the sad thing is that overpopulation will eventually meet a balance, not by sensible family planning but through large scale poverty, and consumer good, food, and energy shortages, even starvation in places.
Only then will the people take it more seriously but nontheless, we will pull through it.

This video really over-simplifies the problem of over-population. Yes, the world's population as a whole is growing, but in almost every developed country, the problem is the reverse. look at the fertility rates in britain (1.87), Germany (1.41), and Japan (1.22) (the number needs to be above 2 btw for growth). An aging population has terrible consequences economically in the long term. It's developing countries that need to have less, not us, we need to have more.

No matter how much charity we give those African countries it will never be enough until they lower their oppressive tax rates down to reasonable levels. I n some African Countries the 30% rate kicks in at just 400 dollars of income. Also they have a 20% added value tax thats added to every thing they buy. It makes it impossible for large companies to set up in those countries which would only help those countries infrastructures. Their own taxes are "raping" their own countries. Not the west

The only problem is that China's population will still add about 250 million or so before levelling off, because there are so many more women in the reproductive period of their lives. If you have 4 times as many women that can give birth than in the US, it's like every woman here having 4 to China's 1 child if it were to equalize reproductive output in the two countries.

People usually have kids because they accumulate frustrations and they expect these kids to be doing all those things they couldn't do themselves.
I think we need to to make people more capable to understand they are able to reach their own goals and make their dreams come true by themselves. If someone is happy, he/she won't need to have kids to "pass on" their dreams to the next generation.

there is an easy way to overcome overpopulation: Mass-castration. Each Father and each mother who are adding kids to the population make the problem worse and let their children run into a serious and obvious struggle. They want it! So they should cope with the consequences themselves. There is nothing good about helping the over-productive parents. It makes the problem worse. Let them die.

Considering the fact that the United States is the fastest gorwing industrialized nation in the world with a very high fertility rate, a population of 1 billion is not out of the question by the year 2100. The USA grows by approximately 6 million people a year. And likewise, 1.5 million acres of American farmland every year is depleted due to urban sprawl. The USA has a young workforce and a much higher fertility and immigration rates than that of Europe, Russia, and elsewhere.

U need to realize that is much more complex. and as the carying capacity for an area is taken up by humans we take it from other plants (jungle) animals that WE DEPEND ON to SURVIVE. we arent the only thing on the planet and we need to stop thinking like that. artifically increasing an environment's carying capacity is setting up starvation when you cant supply food to that area anymore IE Africa. we did it to sell them shit then left and now starvation. dvd food production and populaton growth

As for taking it from plants and animals sometimes we can keep those populations increasing regardless (through agriculture).

overpopulation is the only problem as far as i'm concerned. everything including peak oil, global warming, pollution and extinction would all go away if there were just less people in the world. the developing countries are the worst about it, they just make as many babies as they can and if half starve to death they just make more. breeding licenses and mandatory IUD's for all fertile women, it's the only way. unless you prefer to watch billions of people starve to death in a few decades.

I enjoy my life, because I'm raised into a small intelligent hardworking family. We follow limits on what we can eat, and that we believe that people must slaughter animals quickly to reduce their pain or we could just gas them, and that we don't drink wine or bring expensive decorations. If only having alot of kids and doing it at a young age was forbidden by every religion, then we would have no overpopulation problem.

Although population should be controlled through education, it doesn't have to be the problem that it is today. Every person in the world could have their own regular sized house lot in the state of Washington. The troubles we are facing is with criminal leaders... including the church. search on wikipedia "overpopulation". There you can see a world map from 1994 with 5 billion people... the overpopulation is a result of industrilization. If we burn all fossil resurces (petroleum, coal etc)the overpopulation will go away by itself.
