What I like in the second half of this movie is Carrie's morale and subtle transformation. She's still majorly withdrawn and introverted; however, Carrie is slowly coming out of her shell that her mother has encapsulated her in for the past 16-18 years. Carrie's defenses are still very high as they should be because anything can come down the pipe now that she's stepping out. Her awakened telekenetic psyshock has stabalized for now and lets hope that it stays subdued for some time.

I really think you're right. There are also some moments in the movie you see a bit of love towards Carrie, even in a smile or so. She's got some psychological illness and doesn't know how to treat people she loves. She's scared of her daughter and doesn't know how to behave. She thinks the way she does is the best and the only way, poor woman.
I know I'm gonna get tons of thumbs down for this, but whatever. I think in her own sick twisted way, her mother really is trying to protect Carrie. Take the religious stuff out of the equation and all you have is a mom knowing her daughter is "different", and knows that she's going to be tormented and ridiculed by people once they find out what she can do. She feels that she needs to "save" Carrie and is only doing what she knows how to do, or thinks she knows.
So, I definitely just read Ezekiel 13 and I could not find a verse that said that for the life of me. (I was using the New American version if anyone is interested). And at 6:30, I definitely fell in love with Carrie.
I was at the bottom of the " food chain" with nowhere to go. Strange enough Carrie in the book is described as looking very much like me which served to make the connection I had with her character stronger. If I'd had Carrie's powers I wouldn't have needed to leave public school to be home-schooled, I'd have gone insane (as she did in the book) and killed many of my tormentors (and a few teachers) in creative ways.
@tweethang1 Bullies always hurt the most innocent, kind people who are too sweet and nice to not fight back. In middle school, I was bullied because I'm quiet, and way too nice. I didn't have the courage to be rude back or stick up for myself. I wish I had. It wasn't fair. I had never said one mean thing to anybody, and never did, even when they made my school days horrible. I'm so glad that's over now. It's horrible how cruel people can be to others, especially to those who don't deserve it.

There's a girl like that in my school too. Everyone wipes the floor with her and she's being constantly tormented too. And some of you say that you would hug her, date her or help her, but it's not that like that. It's not easy to stop picking up on "the loser" once you used to it and you don't expect any consequences. It can be fun sometimes. @Beemanq I agree with you. Everybody says they would be friend's with Carrie and even date her, but when we were in high school and there was that one girl everyone picked on nobody did anything. Saying we would be friend's with a misfit is one thing but doing it is another. In high school I was a loser and I would try to be friends with others who were bigger losers but I was no saint I just tried to be nice to them.

But in our year books we have things like, "best smile," "best dressed," "shyest," "funniest," etc. But honestly, American high school is not as bad as in this movie, or in movies like "mean girls." Some things are true, like there are cliques, but it's not that dramatic.High school is what you make of it. I love high school. BUT I go to a private high school. If you're bullied...your life can be miserable.
IMO carries mother is clearly distorted because her husband left her and she fels sick with herself for letting him have sex with her and then he leave her, she resents Carrie because she is the reminder of that. She blames herself as a woman and carrie too using Christianity as a forefront for that.

I know I'm gonna get tons of thumbs down for this, but whatever. I think in her own sick twisted way, her mother really is trying to protect Carrie. Take the religious stuff out of the equation and all you have is a mom knowing her daughter is "different", and knows that she's going to be tormented and ridiculed by people once they find out what she can do. She feels that she needs to "save" Carrie and is only doing what she knows how to do, or thinks she knows.

I was at the bottom of the " food chain" with nowhere to go. Strange enough Carrie in the book is described as looking very much like me which served to make the connection I had with her character stronger. If I'd had Carrie's powers I wouldn't have needed to leave public school to be home-schooled, I'd have gone insane (as she did in the book) and killed many of my tormentors (and a few teachers) in creative ways.

@tweethang1 Bullies always hurt the most innocent, kind people who are too sweet and nice to not fight back. In middle school, I was bullied because I'm quiet, and way too nice. I didn't have the courage to be rude back or stick up for myself. I wish I had. It wasn't fair. I had never said one mean thing to anybody, and never did, even when they made my school days horrible. I'm so glad that's over now. It's horrible how cruel people can be to others, especially to those who don't deserve it.

There's a girl like that in my school too. Everyone wipes the floor with her and she's being constantly tormented too. And some of you say that you would hug her, date her or help her, but it's not that like that. It's not easy to stop picking up on "the loser" once you used to it and you don't expect any consequences. It can be fun sometimes. And no, I'm not cruel and I don't support such behaviour but in today's world you've got to learn to stand by yourself or be crushed. That's kinda sad...

@Beemanq I agree with you. Everybody says they would be friend's with Carrie and even date her, but when we were in high school and there was that one girl everyone picked on nobody did anything. Saying we would be friend's with a misfit is one thing but doing it is another. In high school I was a loser and I would try to be friends with others who were bigger losers but I was no saint I just tried to be nice to them.

If you associate yourself with somebody who is considered a "loser," you also become a "loser." And most people would rather not be a loser than to give a "loser" a friend and become a loser themselves. It's so sad. I'm quiet and nice. Yes, in front of a large groups. I am not one to tolerate anyone who feels the need to belittle another person. I think the people who stand aside and laugh or call it "normal"(yes I am talking to you.) are cowards. and it's funny, my classmates and co-workers still love being around me. But in our year books we have things like, "best smile," "best dressed," "shyest," "funniest," etc. But honestly, American high school is not as bad as in this movie, or in movies like "mean girls." Some things are true, like there are cliques, but it's not that dramatic.High school is what you make of it. I love high school. BUT I go to a private high school. If you're bullied...your life can be miserable.

IMO carries mother is clearly distorted because her husband left her and she fels sick with herself for letting him have sex with her and then he leave her, she resents Carrie because she is the reminder of that. She blames herself as a woman and carrie too using Christianity as a forefront for that.

@ultrage4 there are just as many kinds of chrisians as there are people. There are christians who are good, nice people. Christians who go to church easter and christmas but don't really care that much for the word of God, and Christians who say that they are christians but are just horrible people in their everyday lives. there are most likely a couple people out there like carrie's mother, but I hope that they are few.
