John Cena really isn't as great as the marketing, commentators, and storylines make him out to be. Cena is really just hype and a marketing tool aimed towards the newer and younger fans.

I'm sure he's ok. I'm sure he knows how to wrestle since I still remember when he first arrived. It's just that he allows the creative team to mis-use him and he sais nothing about it, which is quite a bummer. He probably just keeps his mouth shut and agrees with every single thing instead of pitching his own ideas like The Rock and Steve Austin did. You have no idea how many people want to see Cena go back to being a heel rapper instead of a goody-too-shoes invincible Superman marine.

At this point, it would be the smart thing to do seeing as how Cena gets booed out of the house day in and day out. Unfortunately, WWE cares much more about making money now more than ever. They think that by turning Cena heel, they'll break the hearts of all the swarms of kids and thus lose money. And most wrestlers like being heel. Being a bad guy is way funner than being the hero. Without the heels, the matches wouldn't be as captivating. Stone Cold's heel turn from 2001 was his idea.

i'll give you stone cold, but i remember hearing y2j say in an interview the rock never had any original ideas about his character and that steph mcmahon told him the creative team even had to give him a complete script.

i'm not a cena fan, but he has his own ideas, jokes, lines, style, and he does not do what the fans want, just what he wants. thats respectable.

i think he is a big part of the creative process, but for his own character, he should fight their ideas a little harder.

There was always some sort of tension between Jericho and The Rock backstage. Not like they were at eachother's throats the whole time. But they preferred not to work with eachother. At least both of them were willing to put their differences aside and do what was best for the company.

The problem with Cena is that his target audience is children. It seems to me like he could care less about anybody who is not in that demographic and would prefer not to at least try and entertain them.

cenas more honest and real. he's himself while most other superstars are playing a character.

I suppose. It's just that Cena is still young and he's quite naive about many things. He's not evolving himself. I support The Rock for leaving to go to Hollywood. What was there left for him to do? He had already captured every title and had wrestled every guy on the roster. It was getting to the point where the same feuds and plots were starting to get recycled. Good thing he left before things really got bad in the WWE. Before WWE turned into a watered down family friendly shell of itself.

I guess you could say that in a way Cena is much like Ric Flair in the sence that they cannot change their style much less adapt to the changing times. Ric Flair stayed the same for his entire career. That was his biggest drawback. That and that he was pretty selfish. At least Cena seems to care more for his fans than himself which is a double-edged sword. It seems like Cena just isn't "evolving" when we all know he has the potential to be like Bret Hart and adapt to all changes.

I believe it's because most Cena fans confuse a wrestler's professional life with their personal. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure Cena is a really nice guy outside of the ring (Not as nice and cool as Mick Foley ;P) but I'm sure he's nice. They also think the way the storylines want them to think and they boo and cheer based on characters and based on what the commentators say. I try to have patience with those type of Cena fans. Although my patience runs very short for them.

Seriously! They really do. Most Cena fans confuse fantasy with reality. And they take everything so personally. I just got done dealing with this bitch Cena fan (no offense) that flipped out on me simply because I said that I don't understand why kids like Cena. I didn't call Cena a "Fag" or a "Bitch" or even a "Cunt" or anything like that and she still went berserk on me. Then she goes on to delete my comments even though I kept things mature. All she did was make Cena fans look even worse.
