I got to be honest guys I grew up in Brooklyn and have been a Kyokushin practitioner since 69. I 52'd as well with a lot of my friends who did time back in the 70s and they where real good with their hands. I learned from them and they learned from me. My point is this at the end of the day it is not the style but the fighter. There is no perfect style you will find out one day when you are on the streets and your life is on the line. MMA is what all who train do,we learn from each other.
Why would you show the Zab Judah/ Mayweather fight as an example..?? i still need to see alot more of this to understand it. seems to have some unnecessary movements that are designed to confuse and counter inexperienced fighters, not trained martial artist(nothing wrong with that, just more self-defense than sport fighting). the boxer was just doing western boxing to me, not different than other boxers. i see some areas where i question its strengths, but would have to see them tested. come of with more stuff. defense and attack with more than just hands for one

As a MMa fighter with street fighting expierence what I can say about 52 is, u need good boxing skills to pull this off. From boxing comes all the rest, this is definately effective for street fighting however, the elusive footwork and hand movement would throw 90 percent of people off. I would like to see it in MMa though, real time, full contact against real good fighters. But its definately better than Karate, and those other bs styles, anything that incorporates elusive movement is effective

My take on 52's is that is a style which can be picked up quickly and do excellent in small areas. if u run on a cat in a corner and he starts freakin with 52's, honestly do you know what to do with that? usually not. most people are used to guys being still, curling up, or estimated movement. 52's adds an edge. but i believe it to be incomplete as a martial art. but u can add it to other arts. its a beautiful piece.

Training MMA makes you the best "real fighter" possible, not just in the skill aspect (better striker than street fighter, better ground guy) but cardio alone shits all over a "street fighter". ive never seen (or heard) of someone who really trains MMA thats lost to anyone on the street, ever, as it makes you a better FIGHTER.
@Judojitsu I just said they were DIFFERENT. I agree that MMA fighters have amazing conditioning and technique. MMA training is still sport: no knives, sticks, multiple attackers, chairs, bottles, guns, whatever enter into their equation. Kicks to the groin and strikes to the eyes stop fights. You have a limited range of hand techniques while gloved and under rules. Small joints manipulation is off. Strikes to the back of the head are off. Balls are off. Breaks are discouraged - you want taps.

I got to be honest guys I grew up in Brooklyn and have been a Kyokushin practitioner since 69. I 52'd as well with a lot of my friends who did time back in the 70s and they where real good with their hands. I learned from them and they learned from me. My point is this at the end of the day it is not the style but the fighter. There is no perfect style you will find out one day when you are on the streets and your life is on the line. MMA is what all who train do,we learn from each other.

i still need to see alot more of this to understand it. seems to have some unnecessary movements that are designed to confuse and counter inexperienced fighters, not trained martial artist(nothing wrong with that, just more self-defense than sport fighting). the boxer was just doing western boxing to me, not different than other boxers. i see some areas where i question its strengths, but would have to see them tested. come of with more stuff. defense and attack with more than just hands for one

no form of martial arts can stop 52 blocks. theres just too many blocks hitting the fighter is impossible. Im suprised at it being a prison form, with like 2 million people in prison I can't wait for one of them to get out and start winning belts.

Yea it was working against Floyd for a good while. It just turned over because Zab couldnt break him down too well with it like he wanted. He likes to knock people out rather then to beat him each round. Also, dont try to make it more appealing since the only reason why floyd made that face was because Zab hit him in the nuts. Not because he was stumped

As a MMa fighter with street fighting expierence what I can say about 52 is, u need good boxing skills to pull this off. From boxing comes all the rest, this is definately effective for street fighting however, the elusive footwork and hand movement would throw 90 percent of people off. I would like to see it in MMa though, real time, full contact against real good fighters. But its definately better than Karate, and those other bs styles, anything that incorporates elusive movement is effective

Open up a training center called 52 Blocks, then train fighters to compete, otherwise no one will respect you and 52.

Your 90% percent right.... well as far as registration for hands... if your a boxer and ur licensed to fight (which u need as far as doing fights n such..) and u get into a street fight and beat some1 senseless n they find out then the charge is worse.. same if they find out your a black belt because they feel u should have discipline to hold yourself back..

My take on 52's is that is a style which can be picked up quickly and do excellent in small areas. if u run on a cat in a corner and he starts freakin with 52's, honestly do you know what to do with that? usually not. most people are used to guys being still, curling up, or estimated movement. 52's adds an edge. but i believe it to be incomplete as a martial art. but u can add it to other arts. its a beautiful piece.

@PlagueInfestedCheese while im a big proponent of jumping between marital arts, karate simply has VERY little to add to anyones repertoire. Lyoto machida does karate YES, and he is an exception, but his stance, the way he hold his hands and his strikes are more traditional kickboxing style, the only things he does that has remnants of karate is his "timing" and footwork. and he also just got embarrassed by shogun twice.

Training MMA makes you the best "real fighter" possible, not just in the skill aspect (better striker than street fighter, better ground guy) but cardio alone shits all over a "street fighter". ive never seen (or heard) of someone who really trains MMA thats lost to anyone on the street, ever, as it makes you a better FIGHTER.

@Judojitsu I just said they were DIFFERENT. I agree that MMA fighters have amazing conditioning and technique. MMA training is still sport: no knives, sticks, multiple attackers, chairs, bottles, guns, whatever enter into their equation. Kicks to the groin and strikes to the eyes stop fights. You have a limited range of hand techniques while gloved and under rules. Small joints manipulation is off. Strikes to the back of the head are off. Balls are off. Breaks are discouraged - you want taps.
