I started playing final fantasy 4 when I was 5. Played it 35 times by the time I was 10. Now I have played it easy over 60 times by now...Already speed run this game 9 times...I don't have an addiction at all. ;)
You know, I liked the voice acting in the DS port. I think they really did a good job (of course it would feel weird with 2d graphics). I haven't beaten that version yet. I love it but the problem is it's difficulty was sent through the roof.
eg. I had to grind to get reflect in the GBA port for the one, special, boss. I got it naturally in the DS port.
And so begins my favorite game of all time! And, this has probably become my favorite version of this game. It was given a modern overhaul, while still being completely faithful to the original. I like the remastered soundtrack, but I also like the decision to use the original one, because that one is awesome, too.
Then, @ 16:50, when the classic FF theme kicks in, and Cecil & Kain exit the castle to begin their adventure...it just gives me goosebumps!
This is what I thought the DS version would be like..update the graphics and sound and all, tweak a few things, and keep the difficulty roughly the same. I did eventually beat it but never want to play it again..now, this game doesn't look like it's worth getting the system for by itself..but if they remade FFVI...yeah, that would do it.
The original soundtrack is just upping the nostalgia factor that much more.
Wow...these are such wonderful graphics. They sure show that good old sprites can still be beautiful, even with all the high tech CGI that a lot of games use today.

Tell you the truth, I've never played FF4 when I was a kid. Only after watching your LP's of the older FF games (1-5) got me interested in playing them. And to say if I did play this game way back when, FF4 would definitely be on my top favorite FF games.
I had a dream lastnight that I had started over on this game, and found a rare drop straight away in one of the early caverns. I can't remember what it was called, but it was a Scythe and when I equipped it on T____ (spoilers) his attack went up to 26. Then I decided to put in a game genie code so that I could get all the rare drops. Then I woke up.
That moment of the game where Cecil and Kain, two childhood friends and comrades, depart on their adventure of a lifetime as the epic music's playing.... is one of my favorite RPG moments in my gaming life.

Oh I loved the GBA version. I'm not sure what people find so wrong about it. If there were any issues, I never ran into any of them. In fact, I loved the "new content" added to it, if you get what I mean? Best secret boss ever. Too bad they never expanded upon that for the After Years. Wouldn't that be something?
Im a big fan of the 2D Psp version , yet the cinematics and voice acting of the DS 3d version is great.=) Both give a similar yet distinctly different level of enjoyment. If you can , try both. =P

@RockBanned most difficult wow really? 1 wasn't at all tough and I figured out the rat tail to level up heroes classes without a faq, and 4 was not tough at all untill i hit the last dungeon. Many save state was done the day I hit the last dungeon in 4.
@rsmovingbush All those things are true. My point is that all of the other ones are still less difficult. Well maybe not 3..I've actually never played 3 to be honest, so I can't say for sure.
The helmsman on the air ship needs to cut back on the coffee. I doubt that the gears in the steering mechanism are tight enough to actually respond to those twitchy movements.
Okay, when you said you thought this version looked better than the DS version with its full 3D character models and scenes I didn't believe it, but holy cow! This is beautiful!
I would of liked it if they had brought some of the extra cutscenes from the ds version over to the complete collection. For example, I believe when you talk to kain at this point in the game for the first time it shows a scene of cecil and kain training.
I feel like this is a bit lazy compared to the DS version, they had voice overs and actual custscenes that looked AMAZING even with the DS's low poly count
HC Bailly, my only request is that when you encounter the "babbling giants" you keep the voice over to a minimum so that we can all enjoy the best piece of JRPG music ever written.

I played the PSP version of FFIV on a road trip, only discover that the text somehow became screwed up and mixed togeather on my PSP. No mroe FFIX or IV for me anymore. Thanks for the LP HCBaily.

Oh I loved the GBA version. I'm not sure what people find so wrong about it. If there were any issues, I never ran into any of them. In fact, I loved the "new content" added to it, if you get what I mean? Best secret boss ever. Too bad they never expanded upon that for the After Years. Wouldn't that be something?

Im a big fan of the 2D Psp version , yet the cinematics and voice acting of the DS 3d version is great.=) Both give a similar yet distinctly different level of enjoyment. If you can , try both. =P

@RockBanned most difficult wow really? 1 wasn't at all tough and I figured out the rat tail to level up heroes classes without a faq, and 4 was not tough at all untill i hit the last dungeon. Many save state was done the day I hit the last dungeon in 4.

The helmsman on the air ship needs to cut back on the coffee. I doubt that the gears in the steering mechanism are tight enough to actually respond to those twitchy movements.

I would of liked it if they had brought some of the extra cutscenes from the ds version over to the complete collection. For example, I believe when you talk to kain at this point in the game for the first time it shows a scene of cecil and kain training.
