@Davospace1 In reference to your comment. I was asking a question about Andrew's exposure settings for my own knowledge, not critiquing the quality of his film. regards.
@Davospace1 thanks Davo - you will see BigFred tossing his Siting 3 glider around under me as I was having my first flight at Stanwell in the Sports2 155 (next video) - this day was in the floater. The GoPro works best in full overhead sun in green/blue colour range, with its wide angle it captures a LOT of light onto its small digital sensor. Though I'm no expert, a low air time pilot in comparison I have fun and glad you enjoyed it :-)
@bigfred190 hey Fred - no exposure setting and the little GoPro struggled a bit as a lot of the time it was getting a lens full of the setting sun. It was just a bit too light on this day for Long Reef and a bit less to the north would have made it easier and I can understand that Hill60 wouldn't have given much lift when it was such a light day. How is the whale migration looking compared to previous years? It is a great place to live! cu at Stanwell on Thurs hopefully :-)
Mate as a newbie your vids are awesome for seeing the landing approaches and visualising flights at new sites. Not flown Long Reef yet but this will make it easier when I do!! Keep 'em coming! :)
@gnohara Thanks..i often do the same! This site can be a bit tricky for launch, and wise to get some advice before flying and the locals are very helpful to new pilots. The other two pilots helped me off in this flight. I would have liked to have been higher before making the run to the beach and wasn't expecting the tumbling air on the northern cliff, if I had been any lower I would have headed back to the sandy point as the safer option. Thanks for posting :-)
@indigocrystalC6 yes, it depends on how close I am to the other glider and whether I'm in their wind path. I have a bit of turbulence from the other gliders at 1min29, 1min45 and 3min38 and that causes me to visibly rock a little. Generally I can predict it and pull on a bit of airspeed to keep good control, especially in that last one as I knew I would be closer, and I was staying lower than him so that his turbulence would be going upwards with the breeze and I wouldnt cop all of it.
like that flight!

Did you adjust the exposure setting on the camera for the late afternoon light Andrew? I had a sleddie at hill 60 & did a spot of whale watching.

Do you experience any degree of wingtip vortex turbulence from other gliders?
