2. They're not endangered (look it up on IUCN Red List yourself)
You're grossly misinformed.
Of course you're just teenagers, so I will only say you can thank your racist country's media for being completely worthless and only printing anti-Japanese propaganda, lies, and misinformation.
That 761,000 figure is actually composed of two species, and is being reviewed by the IWC Scientific Committee, but it in not way represents an "overpopulation". Pro-whalers are fond of quoting this figure, but it's completely inaccurate.
Japan is whaling in the Southern Ocean Sanctuary and inside Australia's EEZ, in defiance of the IWC, Australian law, and international scientific opinion.
The main threat to whales is not hunting. It is pollution. The whales of the Yangtze are all dying. China is surrounded by dead zones because of pollution. Only jellyfish can live there. But American consumers have a huge appetite for cheap junk from China. Within one year, it will be filling American landfills because Walmart designs it to break after the guarantee period. That selfish consumer society pollutes double Japan per capital.
yeah but what are the japs doin to help? nothin they are making the problem worce, and whats even worce japanese fucks like ya self support it, n they take the whales out of aussie waters how bout no japan fuck off!
are you fuckin retarted? japanese to japs in no different from Australians to aussies... changes the subject from whales to jellyfish and green house gasses you got no leg to stand on mate you cant admit that japan is in thw wrong as far as travellin to australian waters and pretend to do research of aussie whales, n dont pull shit out sayin its traditional coz the tradition died a long time ago mate have a think about it... by the way fuckin leave the jelly fish alone ya slit eyed fuck
Who says that they are Australian waters? I only recognize four nautical miles as the perimeter of Australia. I do not include Antarctica as part of Australia.
Are you like Qaddafi with the "line of death." Because I think the same thing will happen to your tug boats as what Reagan did to the Su-22s in the Gulf of Sidra incident.
Nobody recognizes your absurd territorial claims of Antarctica.
"Jap is a term originally used as an English abbreviation of the word "Japanese." Today it is regarded as an ethnic slur, though English speaking countries differ in the degree they consider the term offensive. Japanese Americans have come to find the term controversial or offensive, even when used as an abbreviation.[1] In the past, Jap was not considered primarily offensive; however, after the events of World War II, the term became derogatory.[2]" Wikipedia
love you, and thanks for standing up. It's what New Zealanders did against Nuclear testing in the 80s. That's what makes the difference! Standing up! Oh and yeah, fuck the Japanese bastards!!!
Today the Japanese whaling fleet head towards Australian waters AGAIN. This time to hunt the endangered humpback whale for the first time since the 1960's. Yes they are not just Australian whales they are everybody's, they just happen to swim along our coastline and japan just happens to harpoon them in our waters!
I admire your courage and I support the "anti-whaling" message, but I'm a little wary of your saying it's only because they're "Australian" whales. I believe that we should protect ALL the whales in this world. Still - great job! Rock on.
Thank you, we too want to save all the whales, but are focussing on our humpback whales at the moment.one step at a time,Im only 14 and determined to wipe out whaling permanently
Great video. We have to do everything we can to stop the killing, not only of the 50 ozzy humpback but the 2000 other whale japan iceland and norway want to kill over the next 12 months. I hope you can be involved in my Flight of the humback project. see... flightofthehumpback. org
You're my inspiration to get off my butt and stand up for what I believe in. Thanks for being so extraordinary and unreasonable with yourselves in your quest for preserving this beautiful planet and all its magnificent creatures.

Many activists, scientists, and politicians believe that the IWC
should regulate the hunts and fisheries involving small
cetaceans. However, the public display industry opposes
this extension of IWC authority, apparently because this
much-needed oversight might interfere with the display
industrys ability to capture animals for its collections
in various locations around the world. Naomi A. Rose PhD-2009

BTW, did you realize while you were in Alaska that Alaskans were hunting whales that actually were endangered -- right there??

Japan is catching Mink whales whose number is 761,000 (IWC,1991) and are overpopulated.
Japan is whaling in the Atlantic Ocean, not Australian territory.
Some Aussies are misunderstanding the points.

What do you mean "Japs"? Are you trying to use a racial slur?
Japan is trying to deal with the jellyfish from these Chinese dead zones that are killing other acquatic life.
