@TheVicFlo I wish I had tried plasti dip. just be sure to tape/plug the ear holes really well. BTW the hairspray just flakes off for what seems like months. Looks like the phones are recovering from a sunburn.
It is so frustrating that this happens to headphones advertised as "perfect for exercise". Exercise produces sweat, something these headphones can take very little of. If they came from the factory with an epoxy/silicon coating then yes, they would be perfect for exercise. As it stands they're pretty good but not perfect. I'll give this a shot, if I can remember I'll come back and let you know how it held up. Thanks again for the tip and taking the time to get it out there!
I think moto is coming out with a second gen of this headset, I thought it would be solid black, maybe it went blue... Where did you get your blue headset at?
I cant find much on where to get my hands on gmask via a google search. Install vids look to be a good fit for players, I am wondering how well it would wrap the head phones.
I just got back my third replacement headset from Motorola. Before using it to work out, I followed these instructions, spraying it with hairspray. I used TRESemme Tres Two extra hold hairspray, which meets all the ingredients requirements as far as I can tell. The next day I worked out, and within five minutes three of the buttons were not functioning properly. The hairspray fix did not work for me.
Next I bought Silicone Water-Guard by Sno-Seal. I covered the buttons with this waterproofing spray using several coats, but the next day my headset is worse. After listening to the headset for a couple of hours (not exercising), it began to repeatedly invoke the "previous" button. With that behavior, listening to any audio is pointless.
Listen up... Hairspray will build up and look like you need to clean them, OK? so just go to a foot wear or boot shop and get come of the waterproofing spray and spray it on liberally.
It will NOT harm the electronics or the plastic and will prevent corosion from sweat=saltwater.
If you load it up once in a while I would be surprised if you couldn't drop them in water.
BTW. The sicilone spray waterproofing works great on the distributor, plug wires and wire connections of cars.
This is how I first thought of it. I had a jeep and always sprayed the plug wires and boots and dist. so I could go through deep water and not flood out.
Yeah, I just went to Cancun and forgot to bring my vinyl hairspray, so as I stated to continue the application of vinyl... well, I didnt and the headset got horked up when I was working out on the treadmill. Back to the store for a return/exchange. Crud!!
what for me works is smash hard with my lighter on the buttons now it works again

i havent had any issues with my headphones, i thought they were supposed to be sweat proof.
Well i have electronic epoxy, so i may take them apart and just coat the internal components with epoxy and lubricate the buttons with silicone.
I rarely use them during work outs so that may be the issue with them breaking down.

Why don't just gmask the headphone.

HEY! You are going about it all wrong!

DO IT and thank me later, it is just silicone!

Right! This waterproofing silicone spray may be the real trick. The hairspray does build up an looks like ass. Thanks for the post.
