When it closes the exhaust valve multiple times before firing it needs more fuel. It does this because it did not get enough gas to hit. very nice model :)
@Morkvonork ,at the beginning of the video, the needle valve was closed too much for fuel to ghet past the needle. After it finally started, it was opened too much and that is when I turn the needle valve in because it is too rich and the engine responded by going much faster. I have since made a "choke sleeve" to assist in tuning the mixer. I start it every time by hand now. Thanks for your positive comment and your interest. Later, Rick.
@manikmek , Dirtdign has uploaded a vid of it running on pure Hydrogen produced from electrolysis. She runs really slow because of the heavy flywheels. These guys are always experimenting with stuff.
@HonoluluHydro , thanks for the kind comment. You are right about the after putting so much time and effort into a project and listening to it finally fire to life. What I meant about its "first run" is when I shut it off when I want it to and not when it wants to. Just wanted to clarify that. Later.

@manikmek , thanks for the kind comment. Great feeling hearing it start for the first time and cutting it off when I want it to stop running.

Great job! Beautiful engine and what a feeling it must be to see and hear it come alive. Thanks for posting
