To use an oscilloscope as a Spectrum Analyzer i believe to have to create a Saw-tooth waveform and input that into the EXT In on the back of most oscilloscopes. I had done something similar in Technical College. That way there the time domain is now the frequency domain, or something similar.
In order to use an O'scope as an SA, you have to have either a spectrum analyzer adapter between the input signal and the scope or you would have to hardwire the sweeper, VCO, mixer, log amp and a host of other junk right into the scope circuitry...and when using it this way you would have to increase the sweep rate for a meaningful display...maybe 15-30 sweeps per sec. ---and if you want to keep from frying all the phosphors right off the inside of the tube face..INTENSITY DOWN!
air-gear song, nice song crappy audio coming out but good idea

you just grabbed the "timebase" knob and turned it all the way to 1 sec/div, or whatever your scope supports...

This what they normally display, slowing the timebase doesn't make a spectrum analyser.

It is unclear to me why you think you're using an oscilloscope as a spectrum analyser here. All it looks like is a time domain display of the signal.
