I love how at the end Levine says, "Fabulous." Absolutely right.
@skykyj322 - there is a video on here where he talks about the passaggio and covering. Of course, it's much easier said than mastered like the Maestro.

Pavarotti??
There are songs that are owned by a particular singer and Luciano owns this song. He also owns Core N Grato, Che Gelina Manina (La Bohem), Nessun Dorma, Panis Angelicus, and Torna Sorriento to name a few. No one sings these songs better than this supreme lyric tenor.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for uploading these particular performances. They are moving, romantic and leave me speechless and yearning for more of him.
Vaga luna, che inargenti queste rive e questi fiori ed inspiri agli elementi il linguaggio dell'amor; testimonio or sei tu sola del mio fervido desir, ed a lei che m'innamora conta i palpiti e i sospir.
The Maestro was gifted with the ability to sing softly/piano and fill a concert hall. This is amply displayed at the end of this piece. I believe it's an underrated/under appreciated gift.

@uncjim Sorry, but no he really didn't. Pavarotti had truly astounding passagio control, but his projection was actually quite lacking (despite his resonance), which is why he was very often miked.
@uncjim Yes, interestingly enough, I saw him dozens and dozens of times. Also, very strong and clear. Perhaps danielsferguson had no real experience hearing Pavarotti live.
@Doooku I do not know about him being 'miked' - meaning there was a microphone for him (I will ask around!). But his voice was actually not as big as people think, albeit his big size! Those who have heard him 'live' in operas will notice that he was quite soft.
@Doooku Me too. I just heard from a friend who has seen him LIVE a few times in Italy, in operas. She was still a student then, and was rather surprised by Pavarotti's soft voice. But one thing is for sure...his unsurpassed technique, as though everything was so natural to him. So much so that some people say he has 'no technique'.
Pavarotti's projection was never an issue. All artists are amplified in the major houses in the States and have been for some time. Pavarotti always had wonderful resonance that carried, but the sound was more white than burnished. Most of that is attributable to his frontal placement and his a vowels being a bit nasal. I can say with much confidence/experience that his voice carries.
One of my favorite arias

The Bellini bel canto is where Maestro Pavarotti excelled. Both he and Bergonzi shall serve as models of beautiful singing forever.

so beautiful song and so beautiful sung by luciano pavarotti, the great tenor ever, ever and ever.

Bravo, maestro, mais vous auriez pu prendre un rythme plus lent, de façon à ce qu'on ait le temps de "rentrer" dans l'histoire...

Yes, I always doubted his voice wasn't big enough. What did you mean "miked" and "projection"?

I agreed with you. His voice could be pretty small. But I never had the chance to listen to him live--he passed away before I could come to his LIVE.
