this is a great song. they put so much emotion into they're songs. i also love love love the level of energy these guys have, they rock out and do their own thing, and its so awesome.
This surely is a Tootin tune and wwhen I play it on my record player it makes me think back to a time when life was so much simpler and even though we didn't have a lot we used to love chewin tobacco and filling the spittoon as we supped whisky and danced on the front porch as we played tunes on our banjos.
But then our wifes would return from their shopping trips and puncture our happiness balloon with their sharp tongues.
I was trying to decide what was missing from this performance... then I realised, the crowd are all standing still... Such and awful crowd! And as much as I love the Maccabees, I think I would have been jumping more to mumford and sons than them!
Is it just me, or does it look like Marcus just spotted a banker out of the corner of his eye, and he is fixing on taking him out as soon as the song is done...
Being a metal head, liking this song and music realy shows my musical variety. I like and appreciate music made by real artist with their instruments. Not by posers who just throw stuff together or by computers and auto tune
@jmprunner More specific, he said he drew inspiration directly from John Steinbecks "The Grapes of Wrath" , a terrific book about the depression. Terrific lyrics as usual, Mr. Mumford.

Hidden from the naked eye, cold and so alone,
Moving along lifes path, with only my inner moan,
The journey is a selfish one, with habits that wont break,
Many times i'm offered help, of which I do not take,
Catching up and passing the person I once knew,
Cover my heart with honest intent and maybe make it true.
