  • do you need to glue stuff

  • its neutral grey you where suppose to use...not sky blue

  • no its not the one from perl harbor and the doolittle raid the doolittle raid bombers were the earlier B version

  • no its not the one from perl harbor and the doolittle raid the doolittle raid bombers were the earlier B version

  • I built one of those as a kid. My neighbor came over one day and sat on it and smashed it all to fuck. I was pissed, later we jumped him in an alley and beat the shit out of him.

  • im building mine right now lol

  • this is what i like to build the most, warships and gun ships, and a personal favorite aircraft, just finished my USS Missouri ship came out good, now i have this plane an a F-101 voodoo

  • Didn't you paint the cockpits canopy frames? Why?

  • @ichmalealsobinich

I painted them later on. Just not when I made this video.

  • Just bought the same model today. Its been quite a while since Ive built any models myself. So far Ive got the window frames masked off and will spray the green tomorow...

  • yours has a lighter color than the waty i painted mine, but i messed up the propellors and they dont turn :(

  • i cant get my freaking wings to stay on

  • @huey187 what glue are u using. is it plastic model ciment glue if so thats what i use and it works fine.or sometimes u have to much paint where u put the glue and it makes it take way longer to dry.

  • excuse me for my typos. and i dont want to sound too critical in my comments, but they're just my observations. again, great job on the plane!

  • now a couple words on the raid itself. the planes actually had to launch about 400 miles from the original launch point and, as you sais, didnt have enough to fuel to make it to china. some of the planes ditched into the see, many crews parachuted, some crash landed, and one plane even managed to land in russia, but the crew was interned. the main point of the raid when it was planned was not necessarily to cause great damage, but to raise the morale of americans which it did

  • i say this because the plane in the movie was strafing with four .50 caliber guns whereas the only nose guns the B-25B carried was a single .30 caliber. in the movie they show crews removing waist guns.....waist guns wer enever present on a B-25B. the only guns it had were the one nose gun and the 2 guns in the top turret, which was further back on the fuselage than on the J model. tail guns were present on the J but never present on the B.

  • i have a couple notes on the doolittle raid bombers too, but have to do so in multiple posts due to length issues. the first is that the whole scenario in the movie Pearl Harbor is not very accurate. your right about the B-25J being the the plane in the movie, but B-25Bs were used in the actual raid. this makes the scene of the B-25 strafing japanese impossible.

  • there a couple inaccuracies on your build, but not doing it for 7 years or so, its a great job. the only problems i see are with the paint colors and the machine guns. if it wa sme, i wouldnt have the machine guns flexible, but thats just an opinion. with the paint, standard colors were olive drab on top instead of flat green and neutral gray on bottom instead of sky blue. also, the wingtips on this particular aircraft were flat white, and the fron of the egnine cowlings yellow.

  • overall how fun it is to built this model?

  • i thought they used b29's in pearl harbor...

  • You mean in the movie?

The United States Navy and Air Force chose to use the B-25 Mitchell for the first American bomb strike on Japanese soil (a.k.a., the Doolittle Raid) since it could easily be launched from the aircraft carriers without the use of a land base, it carried just enough bombs to make an impact on its target, and it had heavy armaments that consisted of .50 Caliber machine guns and 75mm cannons (on the later wartime production models).

  • Sure, the American fleet was detected about 200 miles from their original launch position, they did not get enough fuel and prep time, they had to sacrifice some of their guns so that they could take off from the carrier deck, and most of the pilots felt like the raid would not make a difference because they only had 16 planes when the Japanese had over 300 at the Pearl Harbor raid...

But nevertheless, America got its point across with the Doolittle raid.

  • @joshguy64 Your knowledge of WWII history needs more work. Admit you don't know something if you aren't sure. Honesty works best. There were no 75mm cannons or m.g. ever used on any plane in WWII (does such an animal exist?). Yes they used .50 cal mach. guns for defense. B25s were used for the Doo. raid because they found it was possible to launch it from an aircraft carrier, but they didn't know it could be done before they began to practice! It was a gamble. Watch the History Channel!

  • @joshguy64 You are wrong,B-25 couldnt EASILY be launched from aircraft carrier, but they didnt have any other choice.Actually Doolittles plain were only 3 metres from water when he launched off,so it was pretty close to become a disaster raid:)And B-25 were, like I said, their only option, and of course they were heavily modified for that cause

  • @shevah2 They used B-29's to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki[ atomic bomb], the plane was called the Enola Gay

  • @bringlizthehorizon i built that model.

  • @shevah2 The B29 was developed late in the war. They didn't even exist on Dec. 7, 1941 when Pearl Harbor was bombed. A flight of B17s were approaching Pearl Harbor when the Japs attacked.

  • @shevah2 B 29s were not operational until 1943 and it was the plane that dropped the nukes on japan

  • nice model good job

  • fu##ing nice man

  • is the model need painting

  • No... I already painted it.

  • i have a p51 kit

i want the b-24 libarator kit

  • B-24's are out of production. They can be bought on e-bay but are extremely expensive

  • oh... thanks though

  • @kf103 check out my B-24 kit in 1?48 scale

  • you sad or mad

  • I tend to drone when I talk alot in my videos, and it makes me sound like I'm mad about something or sad.

  • I'm thinking of getting one of these, does it have any large seams?

  • No, it doesnt have any large seams.

  • I have the kit. It's very easy to build and was one of my first kits.

  • looks really big as for 1/48 model

  • I know... it seems larger than it describes on the box.

    Hmm.

  • nice work by the way

  • thanks

  • It's a bomber...

  • Greetings from Canada! Nice model! Whats the scale?

  • its a 1/48 scale model.

  • The competition is closed! Thanks for your entry.. this is the second judging (by me)! Please allow a few days for the results to be posted! Thank you!

  • sure thing.

  • Josh, thats a stunning entry, and nice voice over gives this entry a nice personal feel..good luck.

    Leo.

  • Thanks Leo.

  • Hi Joshguy64 great build really impressed with it mate, I must get around to getting a couple of them, I would personally like to see some weathering on her and that not a criticism by the way Josh I just believe it brings more realism to the model, but thats the great thing about building models you can put as much or as little as you like to them, again great stuff

  • I'll have to get some weathering paint if I am gonna put some weathering on this model.

But thanks for the kind comments.

  • Nice work! Love all the moving parts.

  • thank you!

  • Hey Josh, looks great your aircraft!!

five *S*T*A*R*S* for you and greedings from Germany to your sunny and nice hometown LA^^

  • thanks! ^^

  • Hi Josh, Cool model you got there. Exiting to see that you have picked up your hobby of building scale models. It looks really good. Thanks for sharing and keep us posted - Cheers - Robert

  • Thanks for the kind comments bud.

Yeah I have decided to go back to my model airplane building, I havent done it for so long and one day I thought I would give it a try, and surprisingly, it turned out good.

  • Not bad, I only just got back into the hobby after a 10 year break. The Mitchell is a very nice looking bomber, well defended too!

Ever tried painting the canopies - masking off the window panels with scotch tape?

  • Well, since this was the first model ive attempted to build in nearly 7 years, I pretty much avoided scotch tape since that was something I did back in the old days of my model plane building. And the real problem was I was terrible at it and it made my old models look like shit.

  • So do mine :)

  • ...and thanks for the entry.. :)

  • no problem.

  • Brilliant... :) I've got a couple of Mitchell kits, the Revell and Airfix kits, both in 1/72.. Looking forward to doing at least one of them whenever I next get into 'bomber mood'.. :) You did a great job!!

Is that really 1/48 scale, though?? I thought it would be bigger??

  • Thanks for the positive comments! I didnt expect it to turn out as good as it did since this is my first model I've built in nearly 8 years, but surprisingly it turned out alright. Thanks dude! And I plan on gettin some more Revell models like the P-40 and the P-51 fighter planes, so there will be some videos of those pretty soon. :)

Well, this is a Revell model and well... on the box it says its a 1:48 scale, but who knows, they might have messed up on the size measurement.

  • If it says 1/48, then no doubt it IS 1/48..

Mind you, Revell did a mistake like that a couple of years ago, they printed 1/144 scale on a kit that was 1/72.. Those boxes are worth a bit of money now, I have been told.. so I won't be building mine (just yet) I think they re-printed the box correctly later..

Revell kits are overall very good, but they sometimes rebox other manufacturers kits, and you have to be careful..

  • hmm, I never heard about the misprinting on the boxes where it describes the scale of the model. And I'll be careful when I check out some more Revell kits, because I am planning on doing a build of the P-51 Mustang and P-40 Warhawk Revell models probably this week, so there will be a video about one of them by next weekend.

Oh by the way, are you still accepting entries for the modeling kit competition? Cause I was interested in entering my B-25J Mitchell.

  • Please do.. the last date (after recent extension) is May 6th... so you're nowhere near too late.. :)

What scale are your Mustang and Warhawk?? :)

  • I havent bought them yet, but tomorrow I am gonna head to the store where I bought my B-25 model from and get both of them and some different modeling paint for the P-51 Mustang model.

  • Take a quick look at my Mustang video, if you like, it covers the Academy AND Revell 'B' Mustangs in 1/72 scale.. or are you perhaps thinking of making the Revell 'D' Mustang in 1/48? That is a VERY nice kit.. :)

  • I just checked it out, and yes, it is a VERY awesome kit.
