I am surprised that they are discussing Islam and there is no mention of Quran and Allah in their talk.

In Islam nobody is allowed to issue FATWA. It is the highhandedness of the so called ulema that they give Fatwa.

"They ask you for a FATWA; say, “Allah gives FATWA .....Allah knows all things.” (4:176)

Also C 2:219,215, 217, 220, 189, 4:176, 5:4, 7:187, 8:1, 17:85, 18:283, 20:105,

Whenever there is question relating Islam the reply should essentially be "Allah says that.."

Can any body answer if I am sinful or not or any possilbe ideas? One day as I came back home from work in America, I saw my wife and her family all together gathered up right next to the imam. She wanted me to divorce her based on the reason that She and I are not fit to be with each other. The imam mentioned that she were to return the dowry since there was no legimite reason for divorce. She refused to return the money bac, and so I decided to divorce her. Am I sinful in this case?

@a0578877 In the name of Allah the merciful and truthfull It depends did you try to solve your problems and listned to each other and talked about wht you liked about her and she about u.And wat she hates about you and wat you hate about her.then if you tried to resolve the matter and it didnt work then no you have not done a sin but she did not devorce you,you divorced her because she did not return you dorwy then it would be a sin.unless you have tried to get back thoughter.

Duty of a Muslim husband is to divorce one of the four wives b4 taking another. Beat with a stick thats not tooo big...and then only in places not visable (like a pimp would) and to treat her like the Quran says...as tilth i.e. fertile soil for sowing seed....

@ellinida010 A salam o alikum, i don't know of all the details there but i know it is a last resort and there are specific rules involved...stirking on the face is not allowed, leaving a mark on the body is not allowed, it is like hitting with miswak (like a toothbrush). The Quran and the Hadees expressely tell the husband to have good conduct with his wife..
