Like he says, you have to make sure the slanted part is facing you for this to work.

If not, break a window and climb into the room, and stand facing the slanted part.

Then you can do the door opening trick and gain access to the room.........

a suggestion go buy a packet of cheap plastic playing cards i buys a pack of 2 decks for 5$ and i can crack so manny times and btw plastic playing cards more flexable btw if u can not get it though the door gap cause there is a small gap u get it in above the lock and slide it in and your not cracking the door lock you bypassing the door lock like this

heres a tip for when that happens. slide the card in just above the lock and force the side thats in the door space downward. then slide the card back.

@leqaln0w If there is just a small hole in the center of the doorknob, just put a nail or something in there. There's a button you have to press down while turning the handle and BAM! You're in.

usually rounded part faces in and also has a small straight bar facing out (the "lock).  By pushing the rounded part towards back it will push right in (if there is room to fit card.

It doesn't matter if the door is locked or not, the bolt would move in whether it was locked or not when it encountered the credit card, as long as he didn't touch the handle, it truly doesn't matter, and would work regardless of whether the lock was actually engaged
