  • One word, talent.

  • An incredibly powerful voice, each note stronger than the previous.

  • @mitch1234129 Searched, listened, dismissed. She doesn't sing badly, but this kid is no Judy. Trying to compare her to Judy is like trying to compare a nicely made dollhouse to a real mansion. What ever you put inside it, you simply cannot live in it. You can live in Judy's music,

When she was fourteen years old, she sang "You Made Me Love You" in "Broadway Melodies of 1938". Go listen to it and tell me you think Ariana Grande compares well in any way. If you do, your taste has been corrupted!

  • She is the only one of her kind. Magnificent! The only female singer that approaches her talent is Barbra. No one else. What a shame she died so young. I didn't see this till I was fifteen or sixteen, but I saw "Over The Rainbow" quite young, around seven or so, and fell in love with Judy instantly. Never fell out. I'm almost seventy, but I like lots of current female singers. Whitney, for instance, & Beyonce, etc.. I love Leona Lewis. But there has never been anyone like Judy.

  • George Cukor, the director of this movie, could not believe that Judy Garland thought that she was worthless. He tried to tell her she was special, but she wouldn't believe it. I say Judy, you were unforgettable, God bless your spirit.

  • Everybody search ariana grande and listen to her singing one of judys songs!

  • every word.........i feel like she means it. she's so powerful.

  • Her gestures here really remind me of Liza Minelli's in 'New York New York', when she sings 'The World Goes Round'. They are both utterly wonderful.

  • The greatest performer that ever lived with a song that's all hers...forever. Thanks so very much.

  • My Idol. I love you so much Judy!

  • No one did it like Judy... No one ever will do it like Judy.... No one can do it like Judy.... Just Perfection...

  • I can't even .... speechless.

  • My absolute fave Judy song...ever!

  • beyonce is going to attempt to play the fab judy garland ((((puke))))

  • Harold Arlen (music) and Ira Gershwin (lyrics) wrote this for Judy to sing in the film. Skip Martin arranged it, and the studio orchestra under Ray Heindorf accomapanies her...

  • Have a look at a new version of this. The John Wilson Orchestra at the BBC Proms with Caroline O'Conner singing. Fantastic !

  • She is so unreal. This performance is so unreal. Completely takes my breath away.

  • Judy Garland, I love you.

  • She sure belts it

  • This is the greatest performance by any singer....ever.

  • genius

  • who dislikes this song!!!!?????

  • This is absolutely beautiful.

  • <3

  • The greatest singer that ever came out of North America. I just wish she would have had more personal happiness.

  • No words.

  • I am speechless, perfection. Class and elegance. I love this movie and introduced it to my daughters. I have seen this movie and this number over 100 times. Still get goose bumps, still brings me to tears. The pain is in every note. And, ladies, we all have been there. Never has there been her equal

  • At her best........ class!

  • 4 people are the men that got away. From good taste.

  • I love this song! Even through it is sad

  • God said let's send them a musical genius and he sent an angel named Judy Garland.

  • i will never EVER forget the first time i heard this when i was a young boy about twelve and we had maybe seven channels of tv. i was clicking away (when you had to get up and do that) and 'a star is born' came on one of the uhf channels. a voice like no other ...STILL.... and i yelled to my mother 'who is this singing?' and she said " oh, that's dorothy darling." absolutely mesmerizing ! her magic still works today and i agree with many here who have commented: no one comes close !!

  • She put all of her effort into her music, but this is just perfection!

  • I wish there will be someone who comes along very soon that has even 10% of the talent that she had. There will never be another person just like Judy, now they're all driven by fame and money. She was driven by her love of music and entertaining her fans.

I can say with great disappointment, I was born in the wrong era =(

  • Judy's still the greatest....awesome!

  • She was just as beautiful here as she was in the wizard of oz she is so pretty. She should've won the Oscar for this role I saw it for the first time on tcm on june 10 Judy's b-day a couple of days ago Grace Kelly didn't deserve the award Judy did. This is such a beautiful song and movie. She always did sing her heart out.

  • @cinderelmo I also loved her singing "A new world" from the same film.not posted yet.

  • w.o.w...

  • This should be required viewing! A legend at the top of her game!

  • This is how I feel

  • The greatest entertainer of all time still brings the house down with the simple memory of his most momerable moment in film. We'll never see the likes of her again.

  • @welovecheesecake123-3 idiots

  • I've seen it a hundred times and she is always amazing. It's interesting seeing it in this different perspective. Thanks

  • Okay I am under 25 or 30 years old and I am speaking with honesty every film up in to the 60s had decadence class grace and eloquence the stars of the Hollywood golden era are my favorite and I cry because never again will there be another time in film it's such a shame film after the 70s were all porn sex and violence but gene Kelly Judy garland Debbie Reynolds Fred aistaire all those films musicals MGM classics and walt Disney classics and modern ones too.

  • Wow! Are you sure this isn't Liza?

  • @Broadwayfan100

Where do you think she got it from?

  • I think Judy did this scene, without Making-People Sad, or Cry. (Watch her interactions with the musicians, during the Film...). She sang this song, many times, it became a signature-song, yet: Please don't Feel Sad. Judy Remains All-Around, BLESSINGS!

  • who could disike this?:O

  • I watch this video every single day. There is honestly no other person like her. Watch her face and hand motions, you're only going to see that once. RIP Judy, one in six billion.

  • What a gorgeous song sung by the incomparable Judy Garland. Sinatra does an equally moving male version of this song.

  • Almost as good as Britney!!!

  • I guess a lot of men have gotten away! : (

  • just so much emotion! amazing idol and forever alive

  • PS I love you :)

  • Thank you, God for allowing your Angel Judy Garland to visit us for

    a little while.

  • @zerty3 so do i, judy was a fantastic woman that died too young, and i appreciate this spectacular music, i mean, i am only 14 years old,and i prefer this to new music!

  • Clint eastwood plans on doing remake with beyonce as judy garland role

    Just no

10000000000 No's Judy garland not beyonce

  • @RobotMice

I have to agree with you. I really like Beyonce, but shes not Judy. People shouldn't touch perfection.

  • @RobotMice You're kidding. Please, no. Beyonce is beautiful but she shouldn't kid herself, neither should Clint.. She cannot stand on the same stage as Judy. Presuming to do that would be a travesty and an insult to Judy's memory and all of us who love her still.

  • Truely haunting.... I fell in love with this song in the movie, "P.S. I Love You" and found it here on YouTube. Thank you for sharing, this will always be a favorite of mine.

  • that little laugh at the end:'), wow she does give it all! she has something i call talent

  • What a voice!

  • there's nothing better!!! PERFECTION!!!!! have loved judy my entire life and this clip shows why!

  • P.s. i love you!

  • the very best

  • I love the very last part were she goes "uuuuuuhhh waaaaaaaaaaaay" and she has this sweet little mile-long stare and also very Triumphant. Like shes thinking to herself "yessss!!! I just nailed this song"

  • Such a heart rendering song sung from her very soul and then that little giggle at the end... mind blowing!

  • Best place to find lsian women **busizz4me.info**

  • this is my favorite from her <3

  • This knocks me dead every single time. Groucho Marx was right.

  • I think that there are only two people who can sing like this. Her...And some Kid out there who wants to go and be as Famous as she still is. I swear when that kid comes along, they are going to be just as amazing as she is....I hope.

RIP Judy, You are still Marching On. <3

  • I got goosebumps all over, I've loved Judy Garland since the first time I saw The Wizard of Oz at about age 3. :) I'm only almost 15 now, but this is true talent. No one today or after her has ever or will ever compare to her.

R.I.P. Judy, we know you are somewhere over the rainbow now.<3

  • This is not called the golden era of movies for nothing. These artists could really sing, dance and act. You needed to be versatile to succeed in those days. We will never see another Judy Garland in our life time. She was a diamond in the rough.

  • Icon and Legend

  • @ThePharaoho The wonderful thing about Judy is that she was also an unassuming and personable young lady in her early years. I had the pleasure of chatting with her backstage at The Hippodrome in Birmingham, England in, I think, 1953 and it was one of most the precious hours in my memory bank. As an icon she was most approachable. Thank you Judy for a lovely memory.

  • now that's a true singing voice!

  • P.s I love you :)

  • They don't make pipes like that anymore.

  • What a beautiful classic song we are actually watching this Film in my Film Study class and i was left Speechless.

  • No one should ever redo this performance. It is, and always will be, absolute perfection. Thank you for making it more available to all of us. I'm very moved, very..................

  • JUDY!! Love her *tear*

  • I must have listened to this song 6 times in a row now. Magical!

  • Other than Streisand and Midlertoday's singers don't even compare! Can you imagine Brittnary Spears singing this song?No way no how!

  • Gilmore Girls <3

  • this gave me goosebumps i love it. I love how this song is in ps i love you

  • There is only one that came after her as far as giving her soul in a performance and that is Whitney like her or not she was our Judy. Not as talented but closer than anyone else, now only if she can make a real comeback will I ever mention the two in the same story again....

  • @fawnsworld81 Would be great for Whitney to make a comeback.

  • so true... the lyrics are so true for anyone whose ever gone through this knows this. No one sings it better than wonderful Judy!

  • she sang the hell out of this song.

  • @noirpoetix1

To quote Groucho Marx on Judy's Oscar loss: 'The biggest robbery since Brinx!'

  • @jackiescanlon I so agree with you AND Groucho and I am sure so many other people ..That was Oscar's BIGGEST BLUNDER EVER !! oh , that and Crash winning for Best Picture ...LOL .xoxo

  • I love this song so much!! when i'm sad, something about listening to it makes me feel better

  • THE Greatest song ever captured on film, PERIOD !!!! xo

  • No one sings like this. Ok, maybe Liza. Two of the brightest stars this planet has ever seen.

  • im 18 years old and love this song x

  • what key is this in?

  • @theatergirlll Pretty sure F major.

That's what the official music score shows anyway.

  • @NakedSalad Do you know where I could find the music score for this? xx

  • I saw a documentary on Judy that said this number was all shot in one take. She is just about the best there ever was. This is my favorite song and favorite scene in all of her films.

  • I think there was some bullshit about how alot of BITCHES (& I'm not talkin about women) in Hollywood told her she wasn't attractive enough 2 b a star they fucked themselves up there asses though well even though I think she's just alright nothin like Marilyn Monroe but she wasn't that horrible she sure was a GR8 singer

A kinda like this song better "Over The Rainbow"

  • @MicheleBell1 I think they already did release a DVD

  • I love her laugh at the end

  • Somehow this woman always leaves me speechles, even after I,ve seen and heard her songs many times ,what a talent!!

  • Probably the best filmed video and interpretion of a song of all time. Dam, it makes my furr stand up on the back of my neck.! RIP my beloved Judy! You were the greatest atrist of my generation!

  • I get the best chills in the world when I hear this song :)

  • @SUPERyoshi95 ain't that the truth! I love Grace Kelley but Judy's performance in "A STAR IS Born" was the greatest perfomance of an actor in a musical in Hollywood history. We will never see the likes of a PERFORMER LIKE JUDY IN OUR LIFETIME, other than Streisand

  • She was robbed of that Oscar.

  • pure class

  • She was just an absolutely stunning singer and performer. No one will ever sing this song like her, a pure joy to listen to:)

  • So sad that MGM referred to Judy as their "property", prescribing so many amphetamines to work her to death, and Seconal to sleep that the DEA looked into

how many drugs she was prescribed! ANd this was in the 40's and 50's when they were prescribed to people like candy. Louis B. Mayer was a monster.

  • This gives me chills EVERY SINGLE TIME. she's amazing....

  • .....has run off and undone you......... something I think everyone can relate to. Such powerful words!

  • !!!!amo esta cancion !!!!!!!!

  • Stunning.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just want to say THANKS for this clip. Judy is the only one who could sing this song.

  • I'm only 28, but this has definitely become one of my favorite songs. Judy is greatly missed.

  • genius

  • Probably the greatest torch song ever written, sung by the greatest singer of songs to ever stand before a mic or audience. You can't beat that combo. It's heartening to know there are still people out there who appreciate the talent(s).

  • By my reckoning, this is the greatest torch song ever written, sung by the greatest singer of songs to ever stand before a mic..or an audience. You can't beat that combo. It's heartening to know there are still people out there who appreciate the talent.....

  • Just saw this again via the wonderful TCM (June 19th 2010) I will have this WONDERFUL song in my mind and on my lips in the coming weeks Happy Ears!

  • @MicheleBell1 ~ Judy's masterpiece? How about George Cukor's masterpiece?

  • Perfection. Story is Judy did the performance on camera in one take. That's a pro!

  • This is my favorite song from Judy Garland, thanks for posting it.

  • A true raw once in a lifetime talent. Just a fabulous beautiful talent gone now forever other than what we have on film and on recording. She was truly a gift.

  • where can you get the sheet music for the band for this great music?

  • Arguably the greatest torch song sung by the queen of the torch song...Judy was total talent, she could do it all, drama, comedy, dance and sing, (duh!!)

I can't believe that Judy lost to G Kelly; the academy voters must have been doing some good glue at the time....that's nuts

I can't imagine Beyonce coming anywhere NEAR to Judy when singing this song in the new version of this movie. it would be a joke.. That band is fabulous, by the way, who is backing her on this tour de force??

  • another "classic" clip from a truly remarkable film simply an "OUTSTANDING performance from the one and only Judy Garland totaly PERFECT..........

  • Amazing song...and Judy's delivery on it is perfect! You can feel the emotion on every note!

Thanks for posting this...it's one of my favorite films.

  • The combination of Garland, Arlen, and Gershwin is heaven sent!

  • Iconic

  • Judy deserved the Oscar for Best Actress more than Grave Kelly! Just like Beauty & The Beast deserved the Oscar for Best Picture more than Silence Of The Lambs.

  • love her!!

  • No one could sing this song BUT Judy. I have the album on 78 & the film - it's primo!

  • this is how its how its done that stupid idiot Lauren from over the rainbow take note

love Judy and i have loved this song and finally go to see a star is born and i loved t one of judy's best performances

  • It's so rare when you get to see real perfection. And Judy gave the world that

  • I've heard this performance many many times and it's still the only song that brings me to tears everytime I hear it... There's never been anyone like Judy..

  • she is such a natural performer and you can tell this by little things the performer does like how she brushed her fringe away :) just amazing

    and obviously an amazing singer!

  • I get chills watching this.

  • UGH THIS WOMAN. She is untouchable. This number emphasizes that. Nobody will ever compare. I swear if anyone from Glee performs this number -- knock on wood -- and butchers it, I will cut someone or something.

  • This video was shot in one take!

  • Genius

  • Wow.

  • It was meant to be viewed according to the way director George Cukor envisioned it.

  • Too. Much. Talent.

This woman's brilliance ought to make any sane person get a grip.

Really ... no one can touch the mere hem of her skirt.

  • love the different perspective. love this song!!!!!!!!!

  • Have always loved this song and her talent. Thanks for the video!

  • She has so much passion and heartache in this song :(

  • Word is that Beyonce' is set to "star" in a remake of "A Star Is Born" alongside Russell Crowe.

  • @TornTeddy22 YIKES!!!

  • Simply beautiful!! No one will ever sing like Judy!!!

  • I don't eat. I don't sleep - i just watch this video! :)

    xxx

  • Why trim some scenes out? It's ruined.

  • i love it so so much when she laughs at the end it shows her enormous sense of humor goodness she blows me away marvelous great i loved it

  • Too bad the other one has been removed;-( was a better Q in sound and video, but I,ll take it ;-)

  • They filmed this song in one take.....just amazing!

  • I adore this song, real emotion thank's JUDY ! RIP merci !!

  • j'aime cette chanson !!! RIP JUDY !!! I adore this song !!!!

  • Adore this song. Amazing vocals and so much emotion.

I agree with DF09 These are the voices of the 20th Century. Thank you for everything you've given us!

  • <3 <3 <3

  • This and "that" sequence in Singin' in the Rain, for me, are the greatest clips in musical film history...

  • O shit still one of the most amazing films and for me Garland's best as an older Judy . The Oscar was hers by right sorry Grace Kelly...

  • damn right it was and it still is

  • Judy seemed to hate that head of hair of hers. She was always messing with it in some of the live performances I've seen, and to see it here in the final cut of a movie is kind of funny to me.

  • I think that my heart just fell to the bottom of my chest..... Judy thank you:)

  • Listen to Zing! and she'll make it pop back up again(:

  • @zjkrone That's how I feel when I hear Judy sing this song.

  • No doubs WHATS So Ever that Ms Garland was one of the vioces of the 20th Centurry, the other of course Ms Streisen, who both have us the songs of our emotional expressions we have for each other! Thank You Both. Of course, 5 Stars!!

  • beautiful :)

  • It doesn't get any better than this. No offense to Grace Kelly, but Judy deserved that Oscar. One of the greatest performances ever,

  • Judy Garland was always 'larger than life' itself, and her performance in 'A STAR IS BORN ' is nothing short of MIRACULOUS......a performance UNPARALLELED in motion picture history.--Judy Garland,56 years later, remains EASILY the greatest female singer in the entire history of film. Easily. Grace Kelly, winning the Academy Award for 'the country girl' is,i think, one of the LOWEST moments in Academy Award history...the Oscar was 'clearly' Judy's !!! Brad Savage ---

    Lifelong fan.
